    Clip the strings closer to the bridge so you have less to feed through. Also the other ends will be nice and long and you can coil them for easier disposal.

    with different sizes of strings the over the string gauges do not work properly you have to use the under string gauge for it to be accurately radiused.

    I have one of those Ibanez SR305-DX basses, Silver finish, quick-release bridge, and a stacked knob 2-band eq. Pretty meaty weight, and I absolutely love the tone.

    I almost thought that was an SR505. The only did the bottom input jack in the mid to late 90’s.. after that input jack was on the front. I have a 1996 SR505 and I freaking love it. Fieldy use to use one..

  • @KozmykJ

    Nice. I've got 2 SR 5 strings. An SR05 fretless and an SR1305PD. I really love the SR05. She has pedigree as well.
    The 1305 is sweet but it's really a backup for my Q5.
    As it happens I've recently taken to winding the G backwards myself; less of an angle to the nut. A bit OCD maybe but hey...

    I've got two of those in 4 string and both of the necks are fucked up. The truss rod doesn't affect the 1,2 and 3 frets so when you back it off to where they play, you can shoot arrows with it. If you crank the rod so the 7-9 frets are playable the 3rd fret is a carter inch higher than any others.

    Ibanez basses are usually solidly built. Even though they make most of their models in factories, the guys at Ibanez use some quality places to make their stuff so even with low end products the parts usually fit extraordinarily well together. Only set up and electronics on low end models tend to be shit. But once you go over the 500 €/£/$ price range you get pretty good work horses for your bass needs.
    Just like with this bass right here. Electronics were the main problem and beyond that it was pretty smooth sailing I'd say. :)

    try heavy gauge 5 strings the b string is like the thickness of a bridge cable

    • @insanerotta5332
      @insanerotta5332 7 лет назад

      I like mine at .145 and it does not wobble. Also the occasional drop A is possible. Only problem with such thickness is, that they're really boomy sounding at and over the 12th fret. That said I don't really play that high up on the B-string anyway so it suits me fine.

    • @sourceeee
      @sourceeee 7 лет назад +2

      Insane Rotta id imagine the boominess, i play with lights and my b string still has a lot of body in its tone. ive heard of people swapping their b for a heavy one while keeping the last 4 (or 5) strings exclusively light. i either need a heavier b string or a good setup. dave would have a nightmare trying to work on my 6er though haha

    • @insanerotta5332
      @insanerotta5332 7 лет назад +1

      sourcegamer101, Yeah I do that too, as in playing with a heavier b and the rest lighter. I particularly enjoy the so called balanced tension types of string sets, where you get progressively lighter gauges as you go. I used to use a brand called Kalium, but shipping them to Europe where I live has sadly gotten too expensive... D'Addario has balanced sets in their XL nickel wounds, but only for four strings, so you need to buy that separate fifth as a single. :P

    • @scottswash6256
      @scottswash6256 7 лет назад +2

      I tend to play the low 4 strings of a 5 string set (B E A D) and tune them up a half step, they're like cables and it sounds great for metal but takes some getting used to

    • @DriveCarToBar
      @DriveCarToBar 7 лет назад

      I'll second the recommendation for Kalium strings. Being here in the USA, they are competitively priced, especially considering nobody else makes em like that. I run the .150 balanced set on the Schecter in my profile pic. Great for tuning down to G.
      If you want to help with the boominess, drop your pickups a bit on that side and EQ the lowest frequencies back a little bit. You'll still get the nice low hit, but it will tighten things up.

  • @beegoss
    @beegoss 2 года назад

    i wind the G backwards also on my Ibanez, reason is, the nut tends to break when wound the normal way like the other 4 tuners. Ive broke 2 nuts "lol" winding the G tuner the correct way, the angle of the G string is so tight it breaks the end of the nut at the G string. Right or wrong I dont know, but I do know on mine the only way is to reverse it or the nut breaks.

    I wish you were able to show the actual adjusting process to raise or lower the strings for the action desired and how you "measured" the necks straightness ( is that a word, lol). I want to try to lower my action as it is way too high and I simply have not seen how to raise and lower it at those lower settings. IF anyone knows of a video that shows this, please reply with a link. Again, I am new to this...What are the differences in an alan wrench and a hex... I have alan wrenches, do I need to get a hex set? If so, does anyone know the size of this bass or bass guitars in general? Last question, what was the size Alan used to adjust the neck straightness? THANKS for any pointers you can share--- THe local shop wants more to do this for me than I can pay....

    • @musicjen3733
      @musicjen3733 4 года назад

      Lisa Lisa I just messed with mine. Little Allen wrench you can do at the bridge to raise all the strings. And turn the neck adjust,bet if you have it around your neck turn it away from you. That will make it bend concave. Fixed mine perfect

    • @Jihadbearzwithgunz
      @Jihadbearzwithgunz 3 года назад

      Just look up videos on how to set up a bass guitar there are 100s of them and watch a few of em. Check for locking lugs on your bridge before trying to make any adjustments or you'll hate life (cause damage to the bass) always loosen the strings up from pitch so you don't have too much resistance as well.

    • @Jihadbearzwithgunz
      @Jihadbearzwithgunz 3 года назад +1

      Capo 1st fret then fret at the body joint usually around 17-18th fret them measure relief with feeler gauges (can be bought at automotive shops) anywhere from the 7th to the 9th fret fender has some number listed based off the radius of the board that are helpful guidelines for my 5ers with 16-20 inch radius I aim for between .012-.013 or relief myself if I tune to A standard on my 5er or 6 string I'll give it a little more .014-.016 on a four string usually fine at .012 unless it's a fender 9.5 radius then .013-.014
