They're from Florida. This song is the story of his grandfather dying as his grandmother was driving himto the hospital. JJ to this day still works their farm.
My husband and I are huge fans and our reaction when we first heard them was quite similar to yours. We saw them live in April and will be seeing them again in a few weeks. An absolutely AMAZING band. Other than the live shows, the Jam In The Van performances on here are also excellent.
I just found this band last night and I'm speechless ! I'd never heard of them and I listened to Lochloosa live and it blew me away ! His voice is Beyond Amazing and his harmonica skills is unbelievable and then he picks the guitar up and I guarantee you when he finally sit it back down it probably had to drink a 12 pack of beer and smoke a pack of cigarettes ! Im already a junkie and I've listened to his different songs all night pretty much and playlist is where most of em went !
The band is based out of Jacksonville Florida. The same town that brought you Lynard Skynyrd , .38 Special... basically the home of Southern Rock. He calls his music Front Porch Soul, and you should check out his Lochloosa Live at the Freebirds. I was at that show. Also, I worked with them in April, and whilst they were only supposed to play 90 minutes, they actually played 150 minutes. Great show.
Great stuff. Just started listening to him a year ago, but wow. Hard to believe living in Jacksonville Fl, that I didn’t hear of him sooner. Better late than never.
I love your reactions!! For JJ Grey please do "River"!! It's a soulful heart wrenching song that won't disappoint. It's one of my absolutely favorites!! Thank you as always!!
Another great Jacksonville performer In the spirit of Skynyrd and the so many other great acts from here. Try Lochloosa ( Live ) or This river By JJ ....Or really any other song he does. So much Soul and pure emotion when he performs. I am going to see him live on New Years eve here in Jacksonville at the Florida Theater ......I can hardly wait!!!
You gotta check out Lochloosa, and This River, I have seen him perform and his concerts are amazing! Also for a more fun upbeat song check out his song Ho Cake!
Glad to see you reacting to JJ and giving the band exposure. Do your soul a favor and check out more of his library of work. I would also recommend you watch a particular video of this song in your spare time. If you liked this one, you'll be blown away by it! Here's the link. ruclips.net/video/7iILVlxOPWM/видео.html
It came from Jacksonville, Florida...Like Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, 38 Special, Blackfoot, Shinedown, The Classics IV and so many others from here. We have been blessed here. GIve Lochloosa a listen by him. Also This RIver. But I have to say I never heard a bad JJ Grey song. I just saw him live here in his hometown, Jacksonville at the Florida theater on new years eve. It was an amazing show. Some of his music is countryish, some is Southern rocky, then other songs are funky, jazzy and bluesy ....A real fusion of sounds, I just happen to like them all. He sings and plays with so much passion and soul. i didn't realize it really until I saw him live but he can play just about any instrument.
I know this is old but I have been to every show he had done in my town minus one when I was out of town for work. Hands down the best show I have been to, from Garth Brooks, Foo Fighters to Buffet, this dude just slays
I sat on stage with 4 beer 5 ft from the guiterist, 8 ft from Jj, shook his hand after. He's dope. Buddy crawled on their speaker bouncer gave him the get off, so we sat on the stage opposite ends. watching the crowd was the best tho.. they knew what I knew. Took a walk, in i smalltown guy, cane back, the patio was empty, no idea how to find my friends. the bouncer comes up looking scary with 2 beers. im like.. "these are yours". They were, he was watching my drinks. Showed me lotto virtual gambling won me 22bux. found my friends. A memory. Ty ty ty

This and “I Believe” are my two favorites from JJ & Mofro. Just discovered them 5 or 6 years ago...it’s music that does your soul good...
Oh, and the bass player, Todd Smallie, is formerly of the Derek Trucks Band. ...
I believe is one of my favorites too.
