I was told my paternal grandmother's family owned the largest logging company in Andalusia in late 1800s early 1900s. Sadly she's passed before I could get more information on her family's history. If you can help me track down more it would mean the world to me. I use to have a picture of her as a young girl and her father surrounded by mule teams and a couple dozen workers
If I were to get some acreage for a homestead in southern Alabama, would getting your timber lubbered be a good pay and if so what kind of trees would be most profitable in that area?
Where in Alabama is he out of and where do they cut at? I've been logging my whole life, have 6 years experience on a skidder and about a year on a loader!

It would probably be a good option especially as high as lumber is now. Pine is the timber used for lumber for the most part
