I really liked your drill down of vm config, but win xp mode itself seems to be just unnecessary overhead, when compared to regular iso... I'd love to see more vmware+winXp stuff, 3d games maybe?
I have windows XP professional x64 SP1 installed in one of my VMs from VMware workstation player 14 lite and the experience was just a lot better than hyper v,It had sound,Better FHD display and best of all,PROPER INTERNET CONNECTION! Hyper v don't have any of that
hi thanks for the video i just checked but microsoft have deleted the windows xp mode file its no longer available on their website i wonder if you have copy of it that u can upload it somewhere or maybe a copy in another website thanks
Greetings @philipyip, Hope you're fine there. Very fast service by you really, wasn't expecting this one coming. I was arranging Windows XP ISOs from a reliable source so you can make a video on this also. What I got from my friend is two Windows XP ISOs, one is for VOL_and the other is for the normal en_windows_xp_professional_with_service_pack_3_x86_cd_vl_x14-73974.iso en_windows_xp_professional_with_service_pack_3_x86_cd_x14-80428.iso Both md5 & SHA-1 verified. I can also help you activating the same legally if you want. Regards.
I have all the ISOs I need however I am trying to avoid any unofficial links. The XP Mode works pretty well for a 30 Day Trial. If you have time to try it on a Windows 7 Host and can confirm the official activation method works let me know. Otherwise I will at some point try it on an OptiPlex 7040. The phone activation is likely to work, others have reported it to work carrying out a similar procedure in Virtual Box. Microsoft are likely to be pretty lax with this in order to dissuade the downgrade to Windows 7 on Host PCs for Windows XP virtualisation. Again if you try this let me know.
@@haris_yt69 the activation mechanism adding xpmode.enabled = "TRUE" to the virtual machine's configuration file works on a Windows 7 Pro Host. I just tested it on an OptiPlex 7040. Also the automated phone activation doesn't accept the Installation ID. In order to activate you will need to speak to a representative. Also you cannot change the Product Key to a Retail or Volume License Key. XP Mode is a special kind of OEM install. XP Mode installation media is setup to use a generic OEM SLP key, although I couldn't see a SLIC in the ACPI tables of the virtual machines BIOS with RWeverything after making the registry change.
