The idea of having an anonymous Pen Pal is really appealing to me. A lot of people talk about the importance of honesty in relationships however it's hard to be honest about yourself to people whose opinion of you will affect your life. The thought of being completely honest with someone I'll likely never meet sounds very freeing. No one I know right now; friends, past friends, family, co-workers knows who I really am because I won't let them. I can see the idea of Pen Pals as being very beneficial for mental health.

I have developed a great intimacy with the practice of the Art of Letter Writing. And having a pen pal again enthuses in me a creativity I've somewhat abandoned for lack of another religiously involved in the art. But I now feel I shall try it again since I miss the much less shallow person one can become through the disappearing art. I am certain, I'd prefer snail mail, through which to communicate. And finally, I'd be willing to put to use my wonderful, and precious butter-tipped fountain pen, which my brother gave me some years ago. I have of yet never written with it, because I've felt it is much too precious to waste on anything of the inconsequential every day. What new places are now opening in my soul, at this moment! Hoping to find the precise, proper use of my awaiting pen? As a key to a place exotic and magical my pen, (I know) has all of the time been waiting!. And I'm so grateful for its patience. There is such a feeling of joyful anticipation in thinking, hoping, I'll enter a realm again which keeps the maintenance of my soul at its possible Best! I have been pen palling for almost 30 years. Facebook has pen pal groups. Over 90% of pen pallers are female. And 90% of them won't write men. I never used a PO box until I moved somewhere that had no In Town mail delivery. :P
Yeah as a guy it's difficult to get pen pals because there's just so many guy creeps out there it gives us innocent ones a bad name. Sucks to suck I guess.
They are mostly looking for romantic relationship for the time when they get out of prison. I wanted to do the same, but even being on a whole different continent, I don’t trust them enough.

@@shellnexus1 It's your choice, but writing to inmates can be super helpful for their mental health, gives you a new experience, and gets them more accustomed to society for when they get out of prison.
Maybe some structure could be good for me. The problem for me is that I think i won't do my part as far as communicating regularly. I start feeling better then i stop particapating and i repeat the visious cycle.
