Crochet Prayer Shawl

  • Опубликовано: 18 окт 2018
  • Crochet this easy to follow Crochet Prayer Shawl. This shawl is similar to the Crochet Comfort Shawl. The difference is that it is bigger by 6 rows. Why this matters is due to the scallops at the edging. You cannot just add those scallops without mathematics involved. So if you loved the comfort shawl, this is a bigger one and the math works out.
    The tutorial will introduce this shawl and show you the difference. Essentially, you are repeating the 3 rows 2 extra times to get it to be bigger.

    Watch the math at the beg of the vid. It helps. I needed row by row stitch count to stay on track. (I only counted the trebles and not the chain spaces - this worked better for me) Here it is if it helps (row/count): 7/60; 8/68; 9/42; 10/84; 11/92; 12/54; 13/108; 14/116; 15/66; 16/132; 17/140; 18/78; 19/156; 20/164; 21/90; 22/180; 23/188
    Never thought I’d say this but I LOVE having a diagram😊 Thanks Mikey

      it seems to be a '6 row repeat' . . . so add rows 4-6 in a multiple of 2 . . . so the 'comfort' shawl ends the repeats with row 15, the 'prayer' shawl at row 21, and the 'xl' shawl at 27 . . . so an xxl might end the repeats at row 33, with row 34 being the last row before the scalloped edging
      good luck! ☺️

    • @LadyBama
      @LadyBama 5 лет назад +2

      I just know that I made a very large shawl by repeating the 1 latter row,2 tr rows until I had the size that I needed. My last 3 rows before the scallops were 1 latter,1 tr, 1 dc...just like the pattern. Four stitches are added to each row, so you need group of 12 increase to have the scallops, so it's those 3 rows.😀💟💟💟 Good luck and great crocheting.

      You might be able to figure it out if you look at the pattern. I see there are 36 TR in 4th row. Then 44 tr in 5th row... Then 52 sts in 6th row. Instructions says to repeat 4 to 6th row times. You might be able to figure out the increment of the jump. Even if you do an excel sheet and input the formula, it can probably tell you what that is. That's what I would do if you need that detail. I don't see that information on the pattern itself but it can be calculated.

    • @TheCrochetCrowd
      @TheCrochetCrowd  3 года назад

      You would need to figure it out in a round leaving hole. However, you have to get the right stitch counts if you want the border to work out. It would need to be redesigned, trial and error and then tested with testers. Essentially means a lot of work and time to get that information. I don't have any immediately answers for you as I haven't seen this design done in a poncho. You could float the idea with yarnspirations on their website with the contact. They could forward to the design team for consideration. They work a year in advance, so if they consider this, it could possibly be done by 2023.
