Gambit is one of the coolest X men characters, he can charge any object organic/nonorganic with kinetic energy until it explodes, he just prefers playing cards as his projectile as he’s a skilled gambler and their convenient to throw. His character design also makes him pop out and screams classic 90s.
I think it's, Danco, he has a great vid about. Omega level Gambit. He's more powerful then people realize. Kinda like when Emma frost took over Icemans body and made him realize, how powerful he really is.
... ALEX .. I love seeing the " Old School " references in your Art .. eg. the Captain Marvel # 29 Cover reference ( actually a Starlin Cover with a Romita face glued on top )... Thank You for keeping the " Old School " in your Art .
ok Alex, we need a poster book for the villians work, a poster or print for both the Avengers and X-men Anniversary pieces. They all need to see that light of day besides comic covers.
Loved that you chose to go with the Wasp's John Byrne costume for the Avengers piece. Favorite costume for the Wasp! Second favorite, is the costume she wore right after this one. The George Perez designed, asymmetrical blue and white costume. Great work all around!
Hello Alex, I used to live in Lubbock, Tx. in the late 70's. The mall was on the west side of the freeway and we lived on the east side! I've been a fan since Kingdom Come and The Marvels. Have MANY of your framed- signed pieces....THANK YOU for your SKILLED contribution to the industry. Keep up the GREAT WORK My Friend! 😎👍 Tony from Texas....
I like your shading it's very intricate and hard to copy if anyone can. Looks like you use a few different mediums instead of one. Good stuff though, always been a huge fan and definitely a childhood inspiration along with a handful of others.
Alex does what the fans want, he gets it. Give the customer what he wants. That's how comics should be, but they aren't anymore. Fans like one thing, Marvel says well you're wrong for liking that, you should like this other crappy thing, we'll shoehorn it into everything you do like and tell you how awesome it is because if you as a customer don't like it, there's something wrong with you. That's not how business works and that's why the interest is dwindling.
Ross' X-Men portrait is phenomenally awesome! It's an amazing homage to Jim.Lee's classic fold-out cover for the direct market edition of X-Men #1 from 1991!
Ok. So far I’m 2 signed CGC’s in for the Alex Ross signing, I want em all tho. Can anybody help me out and finance the rest for😂? On a serious note, we’re loving the work Alex KEEP IT COMING 🫡
Gambit can charge anything...he taps into an object or human?? Say object, he can tap into an objects energy ...convert the potential energy stored in an inanimate object into pure light kinetic energy, charging it so it's like an explosive bomb...the playing cards are like grenades to him. I think that's a pretty cool power. But like you Alex I had a hard time at first with Gambit. But he ended up being a great character. 👍🏻💯♦️♥️♥️♠️♣️
I've always felt that same way about *Gambit.* But we're from the same generation... _Generation X._ So, that tracks. I'm glad I'm not the only one. Another thing that made me feel like everyone _else_ was taking crazy pills, was the popularity of the *X-Men* animated series from 1992. While I definitely appreciated how they tried to follow the comics, I felt the art itself was just plain ugly. And that wasn't helped by the crappy animation. I simply felt it was _the worst._ Given it was 1992, I certainly expected better art and animation.🤷🏼♂️ But that's just *my* take. And experience has shown me, I'm in the minority. I adore *John Byrne's* artwork. And I'm a fan of animation proper. So seeing my beloved *X-Men* drawn so ugly and animated so crudely, broke my heart. 😒
Couldn't be more disappointed in his take on GAMBIT, one of a kind artist and he just discards the character because he's not comfortable, then goes on to say Colossus has a better design, hands down Gambits design is something ALEX ROSS should thrive with, his armor is vibrant and has a shine that not many characters can pull off, if you study the character even a little you find his background and traits are unique in depicting him, he's a character always struggling with his inner dark nature but with a devil may care persona, that's not easy to capture, his design is just the start, introducing his power set can be so much more the a guy holding cards or a staff, Gambit is very if not more creative then spiderman with how he operates in the field. Like I said, just disappointing hearing a comic book artist like ROSS take the character for granted imo. But once he's represented in the movies and shows as he soon should be, hopefully ppl appreciate him a little more then a tiny guy with claws or a rich guy in a power suit, or a super powered hero, he's a ground level Omega Mutant with sigma vibes all day. Just my personal thoughts.
That's a nod to Jim Lee's X-Men cover art.
It's amazing! I love it! 👍
As a Gambit fan I appreciate the effort! :) (those 90s cartoons MADE gambit :))
So good seeing & hearing the master Mr. Ross speak on his craft.
Alex gets it man he understands us and he always keeps it real. I respect his opinion on a lot of the characters he had 😊

All this is just his power not his character

Yet another masterpiece by the man, the myth, the legend…my favorite artist…Mr. Alex Ross

Not to be over dramatic but this mans art is literally breathtaking.
You nailed it.

This is great. Thank for drawing gambit the most misunderstood x-men.
The Master. Thanks, Alex! Always engaging getting a peek into your creative world!
Either a print on sideshow or a long plate on displate for both pieces would be greatly appreciated
Jim Lee would love this!
Fantastic work ❤

All of your work is spectacular! You know how to keep the fans in awe!
such beautiful and heartfelt work.
The shroud. Finally in an Alex ross painting. I love it. I want this now.
Once I see a piece from him I’m in awe since the time I’ve picked up comics as a kid in one word mesmerizing 😮😮😮
Awesome rendition of X-men issue 1.
Cant wait for this xmen print!
Those Alex Ross paintings must be worth so much money.
Will you ever draw TMNT? Really surprised to find you haven't.
Incredible.
Beautiful
Timeless
Gorgeous
I saw a Ross Variant while playing Snap. Going to grab it next time it appears in the shop.
Enjoy your Art.
Peace!
\o/
yes, there are not enough variants of him in the game, they should add more
🐐 🔥🔥🔥
Masterpiece...

All I want a for Alex to give Magneto a cover.
I need this fr😢
Hopefully with the next piece you can work in the major villain that both teams share, Count Nefaria!
# AlexRoss have you ever share some of the trade secret and painting with your gouache wash or watercolor?😊
Amo la vieja escuela ✏👊
It always goes back to Jim Lee's X-Men cover

good
X-Men villains please! Sabretooth, Omega Red, Sinister……I know they’re not your era but they have their own chapters in Marvel’s story.
To be fair Alex, I grew up with the 90’s cartoon, & even then I thought he Gambit was dumb lol
Is that why you don't do Firestorm as well for JL?
Gambit can charge anything...he taps into an object or human?? Say object, he can tap into an objects energy ...convert the potential energy stored in an inanimate object into pure light kinetic energy, charging it so it's like an explosive bomb...the playing cards are like grenades to him.

We get it Alex. You dislike anything post-1985.
Gambit is the only representative of our Cajun population in all of pop culture.
The Avengers piece is awesome! Not a fan of the 1990s X-Men or their costumes.
👍

X-men fan? I'm pretty sure Alex IS an X-man, with the power of color blending
He's called Gambit because he's a risk taking thief archetype, I guess.
I believe the name "Gambit" comes from chess moves
Lol, I've had the same opinion on Gambit ever since he was introduced.
do you be shittin on Gambit now!
jk
I don’t like Gambit, either.
I just wanna meet him in person he NEVER does appearances anymore
Can someone put a list of all the characters in the Avengers piece? Because I can't identify everyone.
Dragonball Z by Alex Ross.
There's no interest. It's completely stupid.
Mr. Alex Ross, your dream could be director of movie classic X men, you can be winner Oscar Academy.

Arrogant as usual
Why can't you do one of the CLASSIC ORIGINAL XMEN? THE ORIGINAL GROUP..NO FURRY BEAST..THE ORIGINAL XMEN...
Look up Marvels
