The energy you two have in this stream is amazing. I could watch it over and over. Cant count how many times Mike made me laugh. Thx for the good time guys. Pure enjoyment.
Tempo Jr. was the most vibrant title by far. I hadn't heard of it prior to watching this VOD of your stream. Might have to reinstall a couple emulators on my phone again to experiment a bit. I used to be heavily into JRPG/RPG games, PS1 was a fantastic era for that. However, I totally see how such isn't conducive during streams like these. Thank you, Erin! P.S: Still bummed out since earlier as to Richard Lewis' passing. He was one of the great talents in stand-up and comedic films. 😪
Tell Mike that the reason you start out as Princess Leia in the Star Wars game is because that level is based on the beginning of the movie, where she gives R2-D2 the Death Star plans. You play as Luke the rest of the game and the Leia level (from the NES version) on the Death Star is omitted. So is the Han Solo level in Mos Eisley.
I am not subbed to Amouranth, I don't even go to Twitch. I pretty much just watch Erin and/or Mike streams of retro games here on youtube from the whole genre. As for the scratch and sniff through the internet technology, I think old boxes and instruction manual dust could be you guys' brand identity.
Slider was the first game that I had besides Sonic 2 which was the pack-in with my Game Gear. It's a pretty addictive puzzle action game, and while it looks kind of goofy, I'm glad that I had that game.
Shinobi 2 silent fury is really good u have different power up with different colored ninjas and u have to collect the crystals i remember mike and ryan making it to the last level and the difficulty being ramp up to 11
I had Game Gear Streets of Rage 2, it's great. Game Gear isn't really like a Game Boy because the only sensible way to play it is by plugging it in, however it was good for playing games alone in your room or while watching TV. Supposedly back in those days Gunpei Yokoi would sometimes have worried Nintendo employees warning him about a hot new Game Boy competitor, and he'd ask if it had a backlight, and if it did then he'd just laugh and tell them not to worry.
Which Shining Force game should you play? SHINING WISDOM for Sega Saturn! All the cliche RPGness with none of that crappy “turn based I hit you okay now you hit me” bullsht that even Final Fantasy doesn’t do anymore! (And Baldur’s Gate 3 sat in Early Access with people playing it for the last fking decade and the developers not realizing nobody wants that)
Its like an inbetween of master system and genesis Sega sonic is obscure jp title and what i hear does not control well it need a trackball i only watched a playthrough after discovering it
I have a few I'm thinking of. Currently trying out Bloodstained Ritual of the Night to see if that might be a good one to stream. I played it for about 30 minutes when it came out a few years ago and remember liking it, but that was before I played SOTN so I might be more into it now.
Of all things I thought Erin was gonna say people would do with smell-o-vision...that was not one of them....Yuckk..... I hope you're wrong about that.
I only get upset if I feel the person who I am observing appears to be being disingenuous. Also the way you are always saying that you can't play a game like you are being asked to eat live insects. Also, no-one expects you to play rpg or strategy or simulation games. But a 1 screen puzzle game with a little man with a giant fist could maybe get a bit more love than 10 seconds of face planting your controller then declaring action and puzzle combined into game form as an absurd concept.
I understand the situation though. Mike is insanely dedicated to the Nintendo company to the point that he feels responsible for lambasting the Sega company at any available opportunity. Like there was 2 retard Sonic pixel art portraits but no retard Mario portraits. Mike winds you up and when you don't do well at a game, he knows it stresses you out so at 1:44:44 when you failed to make the corner on the game he starts laughing at you and in order to defend yourself, you deflect attention to the quality of the game and go even further to try and placate Mike and call the Game Gear library a mess. But the Game Gear library is not a mess. It's actually extremely good library of 8bit games and nearly every single game that I saw here, I thought was well above average. Especially for 8bits. Of course, it's not about the games though. It's about comparing Sega and Nintendo and Sega aren't ever going to win on an AVGN channel, formerly "The Nintendo Nerd". It's a strange situation that AVGN maybe did something to make retro gaming more popular. _Maybe._ But. Why are all the AVGN reviews just so cursory and negative. His reviews are far too low! So he is making retro games popular maybe but really it's only Nintendo that is important. The Game Boy library is pretty vast at well over 1000 games so no doubt there are good games. You have to accept that the Game Boy is far inferior hardware however, and any 8 year old is going to want colour if their parents would buy it for them. But the percentage of Game Gear games I'd rate above a 5 is around 95%. The Game Boy I think that number is more likely around 50%.
this makes no sense at all. mike did a master system A - Z and praised quite a few games on it, confused why you think he has a hatred for sega. he has even said he loves the sega genesis and the shmups on them. erin is awesome at castlevania bloodlines. they don't hate sega, some gg games are just low effort cash grabs.
@@professorpenne9962 there's a double standard a mile wide between the treatment a Sega platform gets and Nintendo. They don't know or have any interest in finding out. This is just disposable 'content' where Erin sees what she likes after 5 seconds and declare something trash and laugh at it before moving on. So many times.
@@professorpenne9962 It doesn't make any sense. The sms has about 100 us games and none of them are really bad. Mike admitted himself he can't remember any of them. He even played games after he had no recollection of. So it shows that first opinions on 8bit games, if you're trying to do every one. You either do 30 seconds on each game, skipping rpg, strategy and sport and just see which games are immediately obvious what to do, instantly fun with great control. Pretty much arcade or platform games only. Mike skimmed over every sms game even faster than Erin went through the GG library. Btu he was faaaar less polite than Eric barely tries to be. When you shit on the NES and when the topic of SMS vs NES comes up it can get a bit prckly with the ol' US of A. They know the Master System is better. It's just better. Almost all the games are at least ok. But the NES has far more games with a much lower bar. Maybe because the install base was like 10 times bigger. So alot of very bad games are on the NES. But it's not a source of unending scoffing and guffawing over the barely conceivably bad and low quality of the product on offer. I mean I think Alf has had it's fair share of lambasting. He found the TecToy games. But there's no more ammunition really on the SMS. Just ports of this and that. All better than the NES versions. So do we look back at the SMS as a venerable old man and king of the 8bit machines? No. Sega is a punchline. Ha! Look who's not in business now! Who is Nintendon't making consoles now?! HA! HA AHAHA HAHAHA! .... HA! Mario rules. That's 9/10 US retro youtuber. Or be really condescending and say they like Streets of Fight 2. With the wrestler. The one with the music. Not all Genesis music is bad. They will admit that Streets of Fight 2 is ok but only because of Yuzo Koshiro being so cool.
Retro gaming is archaeology. You don't just chuck everything over your shoulder looking for the obvious shiny ones. It's about trying to figure out what the design of the game is and forgive the graphics and sound. Because there still might be a cool game underneath. This is not the spirit of the AVGN stable of old game criticism.
Thanks for playing Sega Game Gear Erin!
you guys are like my retro gaming buddies, love the stream. gonna watch more of them
Tempo Jr. looked really good especially for Game Gear. It looks even better on 32X.
Yeah apparently the first one was on 32 X and I definitely want to play it!

You and Mike are back again. I love it. I love seeing retro games. I wouldn't see. Otherwise, you guys are awesome at what you do. Thank you so much

The way you said "sorry" for not remembering who Irma is made me laugh.
Never did I expect to learn something so hilarious about one of my favorite series (Star Trek) like that. Thanks @mikematei.
Erin you've inspired me, ive been playing super mario world with this girl im dating so much fun!
Yay! :)

I can tell Mike likes pushing your buttons sometimes, lol
My introduction to the game gear back in the day was lion king, and that game is brutal.
Mike should really try to stream Shining Force II on Genesis. Like Phantasy Star IV, it's the best RPG on the console, but in strategy form.

Let us celebrate the Game Gear!
I have a Super Off Road 3-player cabinet. It's easier with a wheel.

Shaq Fu doesn't look bad in game gear

yes.
