Sooo proud of Scotty McCreery! Remember how timid he was on Idol 13 years ago? No one wanted to team up w/him on Group Week. Now he’s standing up there, all confidant w/the #1 country song, just inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, lovely wife & baby. You go, Scotty!! 🙌💫

I would actually love to hear Emmy do ‘Dreams’ by the Cranberries, I think she’d crush it & show a different, darker side. Her voice could handle it, great tone for it.

The real problem this year is that few contestants have been consistently great. Mia has incredible promise but she was really weak last night. I hate to be harsh but it was something you could hear at a High School talent show. Kayko has great charisma. His future will depend on his song-writing and perhaps a few good videos. As the band drowned out and ruined performance after performance last night, Keiko's "no vocals" performance left no way to really rank him among the best. Poor McKenna is lucky to still be in the show. The band overpowered her completely. At some point she needs to move beyond "having a cold" etc and really deliver. As much as Will does or does not offer, he has never been in the bottom half of the performances on any night. Scotty and JustSam reminded us all that no stand-out has emerged this year.
I agree. I thought Abi was gonna be the standout from her audition and The platinum trio. She does have a beautiful voice. I haven't been thrilled with her other performances unfortunately. Tristan has star qualities. He's just a little young still. He's gonna be fine with his music career especially in a few years as an adult.
Kayko got a little too swept up in the praise, methinks, and seemed to become unmoored by it. He strayed too far from his earlier performances and got lost in the overgrown grass out in the woods somewhere. Ironically, though, I think last night was overall a stronger performance for him than last week's. Or any other. I've never been wowed by him. These last two performances had moments but didn't come together for me in the end. The Gotye cover came completely undone halfway through for me and just unraveled.
What if Kayko likes his Nashville singer/songwriter Lane and he was done with this, he can't win it and doesn't want to...threw in the towel by acting silly...it worked
I do feel like Kayko's run in AI was strategically sound - intro his songwriting ability and then when he had to sing covers, just focus on having fun, not actually winning the competition. If that was the intention, I love it, because it's one of the rare successful cases of someone who sees the show as a vehicle for self-promotion while at the same time not compromising himself. I feel like Emmy definitely wants out. It's just too big a spotlight for what she feels most comfortable doing.
I 100% think that is what Kayko was doing. And he got a new fan in me. I'm fine that he went home. I don't think he wanted or expected to win. He got some of his songs out there and then had fun until it was over.
I will miss Kayko as he was one of the most interesting/fun to watch. I can totally see him on Broadway and wish him much success in his musical career.
Abi Carter is dominating esp after last nights performance. I haven’t seen anything like her in music in years and she will be another Carrie Underwood, Kelly Ckarkson, Chris Daughtry. She will be huge! Kayco would’ve been better if he had stayed with songwriter Ben Rector style, but he went all punk star on us and it just didn’t register. Loved Mia as well and I think she should’ve stayed longer, BUT Abi is the winner.
Kayko wasn't happy having to sing covers (imo), and he was better with his own songs. But he made the best of his situation I had fun watching him have fun!
Do you think Emmy is getting the sympathy vote since we've all observed her fear... Legs shaking, etc... Maybe also because she's Loretta Lynn's granddaughter. Maybe people think that's a way to honor Loretta Lynn. Emmy has a sweet voice for sure, but she makes me nervous when I watch her.
Of course are you kidding me she's been pumped up every single week she's going to win it all she's the winner I totally believe that it's not how great you sing anymore which is really sad and sucks for the contestants who are really really good singers!!🥺
Its ALL part of the show she immediately got people feeling so sorry for her she's a good songwriter but not a great singer and she was also playing the CMT stage one year ago of course they're not going to say anything about that??..
The voting logistics are truly ridiculous - people start voting for their favorite before the performances are complete, which means that the votes have nothing to do with the singing. We might as well just have everyone vote for their favorite out of the top 10 and call them the winner. That's what we're doing anyway, right? Voting for your favorite person, not the best singer, before we've even heard them sing? They need to go back to a voting system where voting opens after the show closes, and results are revealed in the next show.
In all honesty, Mia did great and she didn’t deserve to leave. She wasn’t off key. I’ve heard Emmy being off key almost every time and Mia did great! Kayko’s performance was wierd, he didn’t buy it himself. The Britney’s song with the twist wasn’t good either. He is more than last night’s performance though. It’s sad to see them leave
I so agree about the band overwhelming some singing...McKenna's first lines were drowned out. She's been my #1 from the beginning. For me Kayko felt like he was trying too hard. I loved KB too..lwant her to do Aerosmith.
No shes the golden girl she will win I totally believe it! Her voice has decent tone but nasally too and does not have depth to it I have taught voice and I know when a voice has depth in it her voice is shallow and light and Airy and pitchy too.. but she's got the sympathy vote and she gets hundreds of comments views and likes on ALL of her songs way more than any other contestant they have pumped her up every week she is definitely their Golden Girl !!✌️
My favorites are gone. I don't understand the voters. Im not able to see the show when it airs, so I haven't been able to vote. It's crazy how all of the greatest are gone from the competition. One good thing is they won't be bound to idol, but I hope they continue on and make it big. Very surprised by the results so far.
We were having tornado warnings come up in Arkansas and we were so sad they kept cutting in on AI. I am sorry for those who had tornados but it was disappointing not to hear most of the show.
American Idol is not a talent contest, it is a reality show and is just as manipulative as most of them. I wouldn't be surprised if the winner -- based on their sad stories and dramatic appeal -- is chosen before the first episode airs. If they want someone to last another week, they will use auto-tune to make their voice sound better, as done on X-Factor. It's all so phony!
every single singer accepted has a whole backstory and shots of them home... you already know who's going... we've seen all of these people who are still in BEFORE their auditions. There was no dark horse...
WOW thats intereresting it all makes sense..thanks for sharing that not intererested anymore I watched many seasons voted many times for certain ones!! NOT anymore this is BS!! 😵💫
Emmy was chosen and crowned I totally believe shes not the best singer but BOY did she come in crying!! There is the sympathy and what a story too!! Thanks for enlightening me it ALL makes sense now☺️✌️
I’m annoyed that the videos for Jack Blocker were delayed last night. I knew who the final 8 were before the video of his performance was available. Does something stink just a little bit in Denmark?
I'm so disappointed in this season and I fully believe it's they make you think that the voters decide, but with it being a "live vote" you don't really know. I think it's pre-determined and producers want someone that isn't as talented as the best singers because they're more moldable and they can get them to do what they want. The music industry just SUCKS now. And I mean the "industry."
Hot take: Part of the reason people aren't hitting the "like" button every video is because RUclips automatically puts 'liked' videos onto a playlist. So even if someone really likes an upload, they don't want the playlist to be cluttered. Just a hunch. I wish there was an option to like a video, and then RUclips asks if you want to add one to the 'playlist' and the person can say yes or no.
Oh yes Clark, America every year votes the same. I have nothing against country, every year there is 70% of the country singers, not neccesserely good singers, so they have the points from the start. Real, great voices are usually left behind and there is no place for them in an Idol, but there is in the music industriy. Voters are predictable. So if I can bet right now of this competition, I would pick Will or Triston for the winner. Male, country artist with a guitar. Copy-paste. If I can choose anybody from these 8...I would pick hmm who is left, maybe Jack.
Roman and Nya were my faves. So disappointing that the best singers have to go! Hope they get great careers from this regardless. (And yeah, Blocker was flat in his Cher song.)
Clark, you’re looking at this from a technical singer’s point of view. American idol is more about the whole package. And you can’t just critique them on their ability or arrangement. You have to look at how they move/touch the audience. It’s also how the audience relates to them.
American Idol is a fixed reality show it used to be about singing remember Kelly Clarkson remember Carrie Underwood both judges with Simon?? Now it's a reality show they pump the one up they want to win Ian won last year they pumped him up all the time and Emmy mark my words will win this year she can do no wrong!!✌️and what a story she has oh my word!!
As a not huge country fan, gotta say Mosley is most solid. Most to his strength. Might be a 1 trick pony, but you're one of 2 types. One that keeps.you guessing and the one who stays true to one's self. Like Luke said.
Abi, KB, McKenna, Julia, and Will were my top favorites of the night so far. Emmy did great with her performance as well, just not my favorite from her. Gonna miss Mia and Kayko even if they weren't at their best sadly. I thought Mia was the dark horse this season until she got that song and going first hurt her.
IMO, the belting vocal gymnast types are always the majority of female idol contestants and not much separates them from one another besides who can be the most flawless or have the better runs. I can't connect with them alot of the times. I prefer the more unique voices. I connect more. McKenna, KB and Emmy for me.
Sometimes I forget to hit the "like" button until you remind me. I agree with you when it comes to some songs not needing band backup. But, where I differ from your overall take on the season is with great voices. Both Jayna and Roman have great voices. But where will they wind up? Opera? Broadway? The best overall voice as far as who will I put on my play list, who will I go see in person, it's Mckenna. Ken Berry, a family physician, has dozens of nutitional related scientific explanations for optimal health.
I was feeling for you Clark. Mia and Kayli were my 1&2 and I had Roman at 3, but I felt he would go home considering the 4 that were saved by the judges were the next 4 sent home. Which really shows how America doesn’t care about the performances because Roman and Jayna absolutely crushed it after being saved. I then put McKenna as my number 1 after Mia and Kayli left and…well she’s still there, but for how much longer after last night?
I disagree with Clark about Tristan. There aren't thousands of guys who have that gritty, dirty voice in a tenor range - Tristan's voice is instantly recognizable. He was one of the only ones whose voice cut straight through the sound mix of the overwhelming-loud band last night. And he doesn't need to be put in a box where emotional, throwback ballads are his only lane.
I wish McKenna would have done Bittersweet Symphony. It could have been a moment. Here Without You was one of my predictions for KB and "Oops...I Did It Again" for Kayko. My dad and I were talking about wanting to see "One Moment In Time" on AI recently.
Sometimes I wonder if different broadcast areas get different sound mixing. I swear most of the performances for me this night, the band was super loud and drowning out the singers. Did anyone else get that?
Loved Tristin and his showmanship, but again, Clark you are right, the real Tristin we fell in love with was his soulful side. Will's was great, I love country but, think he will be fine by himself. But compared Mia, and since she is female, which we need in country, I would have preferred her to advance vs. Will. KB hit it out of the park for me! Think I forgot Jack, he has improved/fallen into his comfort zone since the beginning, great performance. Thanks Clark!
Came to the comments to type this about doing a separate competition for Country Idol. Even if I like a contestant who is country, I don’t ever vote for him or her - and they always make it through to top 10 at least.
I have to say this season isn’t my favorite. It’s the weakest one in a long time. The talent is just average. To be honest I don’t care who wins at this point even if it’s a male which I didn’t want
@clark I think your growth this season being a bit slower can be directly attributed to hoe lack luster this season if idol has been. Just my thoughts. Next year with a new judge, it should be better imo.
I was mad about Ziggy, super furious about Roman and Jayna, and McKenna is the only reason I'm still watching. I don't know what is going on with voters! I must say that Will Mosley's performance last night was pretty great, though!
Really! Not even close to me! 🤷🏼♀️ A totally different type of singer. I listen to Adam’s version often, and not once did I think, that sounds like Adam’s version. 🤔
This part of the show is where the contestants should be singing original songs hopefully written by the contestants. Those songs would then go on their albums which would produce a quicker turnover from winner to album release. The contestants should be moving more on stage at this point. Nobody goes to a pop show to see a static singer. Singing contests were ridiculed by singers since the Star Search days according to Star Search winner Beth Hart. She only went on because of a bet with a friend. She was only one of two actual winners that went far. The other was on the original version of the play Wicked. There were many singers that lost on the show but became famous later. That includes what would become Destiny's Child which was a contestant during Hart's season. These contestants should be looking at Joss Stone (another contest winner from the show Star For A Night) and Beth Hart on how to grow a career from scratch after a TV singing contest.
I think the judges over hyped KAYKO and that caused some voters to back away from him. I agree I loved him singing his own songs but unfortunately the competition has moved into themed categories that don’t allow contestants to sing their own stuff.
Country Voting mob is too powerful. Iam defeating it last year may have been the outlier. Half of the remaining contestants are either full country or countryish….
I too decry the "Country voting mob" but somehow, I often vote accordingly. When Scotty performed last night I thought "we have two popular male country stars in the show and neither are in this class." Still, where is music today? Where do vocal stars make an impact? Pop? Nope. Hip-Hop? Nope. A few (as in very few) vocalists climb the top 40 chart but it is rare. Vocally-oriented country has a ready-made market on the country charts and crosses over too. Iam was fun last year but he has no market.
Loved McKenna but you were right, the band overshadowed her a bit in the beginning, still great performance. Also liked Kayko's performance and also enjoy his earlier songs too; but I'm ok with him leaving. I did think Emmy really put her all into it, great performance, lovely girl and think she will go far. She has definitely gained confidence and learned so much from the mentors! But, I agree Clark, Mia should have gone through, more showmanship and a bit more confidence, love her sound!
McKenna has been my favorite since auditions ended. I absolutely love the smokey, raspy, low register with those occasional crys. Those female contestants are few and far between and Mckenna is right up there with Lacey Kaye Booth as my favorite Idol ever. Those tones just make u feel and draw u in. Agree that the band, background music has been too loud, not just with her but others aw well. Whats up with that? I guess its just me, but im not a fan of Jacks style. Its McKenna, KB and i go back and forth bewtween Abi and Emmy. Mia does have a great voice, but I just prefer Emmys more... just my preference. I vote based on how connected i am with the sound and performance of the contestant and with McKenna, im always feeling it.
Clark-- I enjoy watching your recap vids. And I enjoy your take on the contestants. But,unless I misunderstand...people 'like' vids on reaction videos so that you can get a better presence on y-tube with your channel. I thought your take on viewers 'coming out of their personal shell' just by liking your vids was a bit cheesy/creepy. JMO,bro. T

Clark, this is no longer a singing competion, it is a popularity contest, and the voting set-up has to change, to get the best singers back in it!
10 votes for each contestant and for each of the methods of voting is dumb.
The voting is for the producers to be able to say “after 21 million votes”…. It’s all a numbers game.
Almost no performances this season that I will ever rewatch. 🥲

Totally agree with you about McKenna…needed to be sung softly to convey emotions
Anyone think KB can sing a happy song? I don't think so. Quite depressing.
I so agree about the band overwhelming some singing...McKenna's first lines were drowned out. She's been my #1 from the beginning. For me Kayko felt like he was trying too hard. I loved KB too..lwant her to do Aerosmith.
The voice is the most important instrument in the band and should be heard over the band
I loved McKenna last night ❤
Emmy should NOT be in it still ... She's only there because of her great grandmother!!!!!!
Google who is predicted to win, it is not Emmy
He’s a child! Don’t think there should’ve been an emphasis on the hip swinging he did real good we didn’t have to point that out
yeah people that vote are all about personality or underdog
Kayla was so very entertaining!!
Kayko
Jayne was amazing!!!
This year has become very disappointing. Those who remain can be equaled by thousands of people out there. No one stands out musically inmho.
I am sorry for those who had tornados but it was
disappointing not to hear most of the show.
NEW top 5, after Kayko left.
Jack
Triston
Julia
Will
McKenna
American Idol is not a talent contest, it is a reality show and is just as manipulative as most of them. I wouldn't be surprised if the winner -- based on their sad stories and dramatic appeal -- is chosen before the first episode airs. If they want someone to last another week, they will use auto-tune to make their voice sound better, as done on X-Factor. It's all so phony!
Totally agree!! Worst season I have ever watched and I used to LOVE this show..
every single singer accepted has a whole backstory and shots of them home... you already know who's going... we've seen all of these people who are still in BEFORE their auditions.
Yea the whole SHOW is beginning too✌️
I’m SO bummed that we didn’t get to see his Kayko’s bohemian rhapsody Britney version…
Our winner are...
Triston⭐️ No. 1, he has the best overall🎶 performances.
Will ⭐️ Runner up
Jack⭐️ in third
The boys got this 🎵
I'm so disappointed in this season and I fully believe it's they make you think that the voters decide, but with it being a "live vote" you don't really know.
I wish there was an option to like a video, and then RUclips asks if you want to add one to the 'playlist' and the person can say yes or no.
this is absolutely the case.. i dont need a "like" playlist when i have a favorites.
Did Mia do the high notes like she was coached to do? I didn’t hear it but might just be me …
I was waiting for the note too lol
Clark, la not a singer but Ann oil painter. Your comments on artistry, personal choices, the artists path are powerful.
I dont evan want to watch the rest of the show , cause the best singers are out !
Julia is technically strong, but I just can’t connect with her. I don’t get it!
no she isn't technically strong. flat & oversing all way long
Same. Her voice is too operatic
I love her. Connect with her more than all but one other girl.
@@yxuen3051you are describing McKenna
I thought I was the only one who thought this! (I also agree with the replier who said not technically strong)
Roman and Nya were my faves. So disappointing that the best singers have to go! Hope they get great careers from this regardless. (And yeah, Blocker was flat in his Cher song.)
Me, too! Agree entirely! Jayna and Roman...only watching you not AI... maybe really means Artificial Intelligence!
I think people are getting tired of loud over the top singers.
Lisa Lobe types like Emmy is what people want now.
Soft singers that touch your heart
That's the current pop style.
@@orlock20
And i've read more comments from people preferring the softer style over the loud
IMO, the belting vocal gymnast types are always the majority of female idol contestants and not much separates them from one another besides who can be the most flawless or have the better runs. I can't connect with them alot of the times. I prefer the more unique voices. I connect more. McKenna, KB and Emmy for me.
@@americanmade7997
Absolutely! Emmy has me on her first note. She reminds me so much of Lisa Loeb...she just pulls me in
@@schannstewart9385 The average age of a TV network viewer is over 65 so that's understandable.
Yes, I agree about Dr. Ken Berry, who I watch and the diet works, I didn't want to say it but I thought that is the diet Clark was hinting about!
Funny to think about students seeing their department head push a weight loss plan on RUclips
I did not know the song Julia picked. So hard to connect.
I think abi will win
Agree with your top 8, but would switch Julia and KB. KB has a more unique voice and star power.
Did anyone watch the results when both girls looked at Kayko applauding him before they announced Emmy name 😂priceless ..
We need a separate country idol. Don't see a lot of big stars in this group. My favorite left is Emmy. Mia forgot her lyrics, Clark.
Came to the comments to type this about doing a separate competition for Country Idol. Even if I like a contestant who is country, I don’t ever vote for him or her - and they always make it through to top 10 at least.
I would only buy McKenna.
I have to say this season isn’t my favorite. It’s the weakest one in a long time. The talent is just average. To be honest I don’t care who wins at this point even if it’s a male which I didn’t want
the talent is average because all the good singers get voted off - jayna, roman, nya ..
@@Celeste-yw3ml I think Jayna was the only one who wasn’t average but the rest are/were including Roman and Nya
I like Tristan
@@Celeste-yw3ml this exactly. The got rid of the best talent already.
2021 - 2023 were so good. countless talented consistent contestants
Really Clark? You thought Kayko’s pitch was good ? Are you deaf ? Go back and listen again especially the beginning of the song.
Kayko was my favourite
McKenna & kb are gone. No clue why.
Tristan- yeah Clark but they're not on American Idol. He did great.
Jacks version of Believe was extremely derivative of Adam Lambert's version at the Kennedy Center event honoring Cher.
I’ve never seen a season where the voters vote all the good people out so consistently
What are you talking about? It happens every year. Lol
Jack is the winner
Emmy sounds like Nancy Griffith!
Agree about Emmy.
I don't get any of this season.
I liked Roman and Jayna, but they were never in my top 5.
1 and 2 for me has always been Abi and KB.
Fax on Iam, his market was always as the next Don Ho of the Hawaiian Islands and that's where it ends..
Agree about band. So many times this season. They weren't needed as much.
I vote based on how connected i am with the sound and performance of the contestant and with McKenna, im always feeling it.
yeah this season sucks I'm not excited about any one in the top 8. it's kind of sad
JMO,bro. T
