The Greatest Canadian Story Ever Told

- Ten years ago, Sidney Crosby scored arguably the biggest goal in Canadian history. For millions of kids in this country, that was before they were born, and millions more are too young to remember it. So we wrote a children’s story…about the gold medal game between Team Canada and Team USA, and about the golden goal. Here’s James Duthie with Miss Kapinski’s grade 1/2 class.

I remember this was my first olympics that I understood what was going on and watching Sid scoring that goal in OT was one of the most memorable experiences of my life
same I was 7 years old so juuust old enough
caution may contain gaming same haha
it's so annoying for me because my family and I watched the game but I was too young to understand what was going on and I forgot I ever watched it
kinda same, I was 5 but i can remember Vancouver's sound
Manu I was 7 too I had just turned 7
What a great job by James Duthie!
basher214 and the author, my son!!
I was so mad at the lack of recognition of Iginla for the first 3/4 of the book, but I guess they did him more justice than most have in the last 10 years.
Comments like this got real old
The story of Sid is unique. So many accomplishments. He has won everything. He was essential in every title he won. MVP everywhere, Golden Goal, SO Winner in first Winter Classic, youngest captain to hoist the cup. The greatest story a sportsman can deliver for all time.
And the best part is, he's a great person and someone anyone growing up (or grown up) can look up to. It would be such a shame if Sid was an asshole but he's nice as hell to the community and to people less fortunate.
@@timeland8343 No he's not a good person. I know guys who were friends with Sid and he was never a good person. He was very whiny and a quite a bully who took advantage of being a vip kid
Too bad he didn’t win the Calder
It’s about the only thing he hasnt won
Paul bro shutup lol that’s completely false
@@calemarontate4030 Memorial Cup too. Corey Perry and the London Knights made sure of that.
The sound of “Iggy!” Will haunt Ryan miller forever
Love it. I remember watching the game in highschool and realizing it would be one of the best games I'd ever watch
This gave me goosebumps.
Duthie, you are a freaking beauty!!!! Loved tge story! Brought back lots of memories
As a 41 year old Philadelphia Flyers fan I gotta admit Duthie had me choked up. Awesome content and editing. Didn’t even cry 😉
This is one of those moments I’ll always remember where I was... heartbreak... it was a good game and a good win for our neighbors up north
now I realize how lucky I was to be just old enough to remember it!
They can't just let this go into history, this is legacy for the Country, the young people need to know and understand how big this goal was and still is and keep hearing about it because this is one of the most important part of our history.
Respect for putting Mike Richards in the book, he had a great career before it came to a tragic end.
Mike Richards was a warrior. As a kid, I never payed too much attention to him, but now as an adult, I never appreciated until now how much I loved his style of play. It’s a shame he had his drug issues.
I NEED THAT BOOK!!!!
Still get goose bumps ten years later.
OMG, that was awesome!
That was excellent
That was the best story I’ve ever heard
Goosebumps
I'm American and I got chills.
this is amazing
This guy looks like ed helms
9 captains!!! Eh Oh Canada GO!
Miller honestly deserved to win that gold medal. He played out of his mind all tournament.
I loved the story.
The fact that I was around when this happened really baffles me, for some reason.
Epic!
This is the most Canadian story I’ve ever heard
I'm may hate Crosby but man this story gives me chills and the way that book was wrote is amazing
You might hate him but do you respect his game
forget Twas the Night Before Christmas- I know what I'm reading to my Daughter this Year!
I'm USA thru and thru, but that was fun to listen to. GG Canada, gg...
But can we actually buy this book tho??
The book almost as good as the goal it self
Man I hate Crosby during the nhl season but I love him during everything else
As a American this hurts me...
hahahahha, best tsn video ever...where can I buy that book?
Well now I just feel old
Can you read it again please 😆🔥😍
How fast 10 years can pass

I have two questions. Is this a real book? If so, where can I get it?
I remember Sid playing shit all tournament but scoring the ot winner. Toews was hands down the best player on that team.
El Nino Son I 100% agree. This is one of the greatest goals in Canadian history that got overshadowed by Sids mediocre play. Toews, Iginla, and luongo get zero recognition.
Great presentation for a very specific demographic. AKA children and people over 60 who might find it "cute". Ptut. PS Crosby was as significant in that series as I was as a viewer, other than that goal he scored. Iginla, Luongo, and Weber are who the story should be about anyway.
crazypolite 100% agree
Where can I get this book
when can we buy this book
This hurts
"The Reff kicked him the puck...
Canada had some luck...
Syd said thanks Referee...
As Syd cried with glee..."
butthurt?😂how were the world juniors bud?
Dr.zuess where you at
I'm an American and this will never not be the worst sports memory of my life. I was 11 years old and we had a game at the same time. When Parise scored our coach ran into the locker room screaming.
TSN!!!!!
In a USA fan
Man most of the those kids Probably WERENT EVEN BORN WHEN THAT HAPPENED!
U.S.A.!
The greatest Canadian goal on record was scored on 28 September 1972 by Paul Henderson.
They're both great
paul henderson still is the greatest canadian hockey goal in history This is a nice sideline goal but it doesnt compare.
is this guy the one that plays with Geno...

Bring the boys back. Summer hockey now! We're locked inside and we want to watch the best sport man ever designed. If we lose a few russians in the process, we lose a few russians. There might be too many already. Bring Hockey Back!
Best Canadian story? Ahh, that's right, you didn't come up with the Lion King, the real best story of all time.
The one where we burn the whitehouse is pretty great too🇨🇦
Which is basically Hamlet with lions, so it's English
@@jacob5953 ah, and how have things worked out since then? We became a world power, and you became a nation of whiny socialist sissies. Your economy is barely in the top 10 by total GDP.
@@MrBojangles002 So then, it's not Hamlet. Nice try reductionist.
@@bcbc1299 I would say pretty succesful taking in consideration we have 1/10th of the States population.
canadian soft power

I’m American why am I watching this
I’m also American
First
End of the video:
"On the last day of February, 2010...
I really don't wanna hear this story again"
Ew
I swear it feels like canadiens think Crosby is the goat or some shit they legit hold him to a higher level than Gretzky
I'm 25 and Canadian, most kids my age don't have memories of Gretzky doing anything important. We've watched Crosby win the world junior gold, which is massively important to Canadians, as well as olympic golds. Gretzky himself praises Crosby as the greatest in the game. It's an era thing here. Most think of Gretzky as a legend, while Crosby is a living legend.
@@zacmilne743 trust me I get that cuz its the same thing with Tom Brady but I'm more talking about the older people they've seemed to always put him on such a higher throne and it's confusing cuz I don't really see him as a top 5 or maybe even top 10 player of all time
They forgot to mention the part where Crosby was pretty much a ghost the entire olympics and did not deserve as much credit as he gets.
disliking purely bc im american
Disliking purely because I'm a Flyers fan.
I disliked because I live in America I have nothing against Canadians or Canada just that was a very frustrating loss to us and everyone in Canada except the guy in the video brags in our face about it.😭
Benjamin Chalker same...
I hate Crosby but i respect him as a player.
Claude Giroux > Sidney Crosby
Talk about overhype, I guess only canadians would do this and make this like the greatest goal ever scored in the history of hockey
How is the gold medal game winner scored by one of the greatest Canadian hockey players on home soil overhyped? Not too mention it was against the us in overtime.
oh stop. it was an ordinary gold medal game that happened to be close. ended by a crappy fluke goal by a player who had a middling tournament. there is no story here. there's no historic meaning to canada. just stop.
