    The most quintessentially English country railway, immaculately maintained locos, rolling stock and trackside run by enthusiastic and friendly staff. Matthew, you captured it all in a nutshell, thank you👍👍 Q. Why does Fenchurch have a non standard whistle????

      Thanks very much for the kind words, Bob!
      After feeling quite jaded about the hobby in recent months, this visit to the Island helped to brighten things.
      Honestly, I'm not sure, except owners choice

    Huh, no Ivatt 41298? Unusual

    • @TheSouthernerYTChannel
      @TheSouthernerYTChannel  Год назад +2

      Given the theme of the event, it's fair to say the chosen line-up better suited the purpose. The Ivatt pair are due to operate together for the 1960's weekend in September though.

      The really old locos are mainly reserved for special events like this to save on wear & tear

    Beautiful captures in idyllic conditions of an outstanding steam railway. I hope that they continue to grow and go from strength to strength.
    It’s a shame that the Island council and local rail operator fail to see the potential of this line. A mainline connection at Smallbrook allowing access to Ryde and extending beyond Wooton into Newport would be a winner for both the railway and the Island economy.

    • @paulhitchcock9760
      @paulhitchcock9760 Год назад

      IMHO it is about the right length. This is a museum railway and a visitor attraction rather than a public transport facility

    • @winco68
      @winco68 Год назад

      @@paulhitchcock9760 I wasn’t suggesting that it should be used as a public transport facility rather that when the funds and opportunities were available they should have been used to make the railway more accessible to visitors and residents by removing the need to use other forms of transportation to reach it.
      Having said that I managed to travel to the IOW beer festival at Havenstreet by rail from Shanklin changing at Smallbrook (no longer a physical junction).

      @@winco68 That would merely waste money which is a truth many lines haven't come to terms with yet.
