Grand Banks 85 Test Video 2022 by BoatTEST.com

- The new 85 from Grand Banks is at once an LRC/trawler at displacement speeds, a relatively fast motoryacht at planing speeds, and a comfortable cruiser at all speeds. The secret sauce is the V-Warp design of the hull and the weight distribution of the vessel. That, combined with lightweight materials, creates a cruiser that’s efficient at all speeds.

There is absolutely nothing like a detailed showing of a yacht by Captain Steve. Very well done
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thank you!
That’s a beauty………..Grand Banks always had beautiful lines. It’s what a boat/yacht supposed to look like
The newer line of Grand Banks definitely have gotten quite attractive, but I'm still more of a fan of their Eastbay and Palm Beach designs.
Captain Steve I love your thorough reviews from 13' Whalers to 85' yachts! Keep up the great work, your knowledge is unsurpassed
That boat is Amazing I would love to own and charter this one out. I would love to live in those crew quarters.
I can't wait to test one, thanks for the great reviews !!!
I've been looking forward to your coverage of this yacht. Love it.
Fantastic boat overall though. Well done Grand Banks.
Looks very well for a climate where being at an outside helm is too cold for comfort. As an Irishman, I can relate to being on the outside of a motorboat during any sort of cold breeze off shore. Even during the summer time, depending on how hot or cold that particular summer day is.
6:17 This is the first 'walk-through' I've
seen where the presenter actually gave
us measurements in leu of just saying;
''the bulwarks and railing are quite high'',
leaving everyone guessing at the
applicable translation. 😄
Excellent.
I'd LOVE if you were able to cover a Bering 70. If not that particular model, then any other Bering Yacht.
I'm sure that I'm not alone. I could get use to living on this boat while snorkeling in Fiji.
I think a video dedicated to the
'considerations' applied to this
dual engine room design would just about
be warranted, this is the first I've
even heard of this in a non-cat. 🤔
Beautiful Boat! Anyone should be well pleased with in!
Good god thats an incredible looking boat...great review as always, hope to see one of these out and about at some point!
Very impressive ,lovely looking boat.
Great review captain.
Great review as always cap Steve 🇬🇧
Great work as always BoatTest.
Another wonderful video. This boat does seem really good.
I would have a concern with the head height during maintenance as I am 6'1". But that's just something that you would just expect for a far smaller boat though.
But very good boat overall.
I presume that those helm seats could be made adjustable if the owner requested it.
They are very nice seats for casual seating, but I wonder how comfortable they are for different hights of people, if they are in a fixed position.
I'm thinking of maybe a tall husband, wife that might be tall for an average lady, but would prefer a different seat adjustment to her husband, and then maybe from friends or relatives that want to try out steering the boat for a while during a family or freinds visit.
G’day Captain Steve, (Error yes/no ??)
Your performance figures around the 1:00 mark show the 85 powered by 2 x MAN V8 1300S engines. Is this a mistake or are the figures even better than shown with the 2 x 1000 HP IPS engines? Cheers, Michael
Why did they design the crew quarters
to not resemble that of a shackled
holding cell for indentured servants?
😄
Beautiful accommodations.
I bet any crew would be quite appreciative,
also noteworthy imv is the dual access points.
Beautiful ship but l don't understand why the GRAND Banks don't have a bigger range.
Nice
GB stole the engine access scheme from Hatteras!
It's an owner-operator boat with expensively-trimmed two double crew quarters, mess, etc.
The crew quarters is a great place for extra family too. My grown kids would love the added privacy.
What do you use to clean and polish carbon fiber?
BBQ covers a little heavy for that strut?
I like GB style, but the split engine room is crap.
If the can turn that into a garage I’d be sold. That’s an awkward storage hallway I don’t get it.
A Rolls Royce of the Seas
Good thing the steering wheel is on a tilt base or I'd have to pass......
With that range at displacement speed how dose this compare to something like a Nordhavn for sea keeping?
@@ianscott3180 I don’t think you go looking for heavy weather in the Nordhavn.
It is impressive engineering.
🧿
First
The fact that diesel electric propulsion is not in discussion anywhere within the GB yard shows this is just another dino powered old man cruiser. Yawn
