So pleased to see your review of this Grand Banks, they’ve really moved on from the 70’s when I used to drool over them. Now they’re something else. No aft cabin but that could never happen with this new hull form. Great tour as always James, thank you
I love that this is an Asian Singapore based company. You really see a different point of view on yachts. I'm old enough to really prefer the classic style of Grand Banks - but these are just amazing. Just to give an idea, Bermuda is about 700ish nautical miles off the east coast of the US, roughly off the Chesapeake Bay. The Bahamas are about 50ish nautical miles off Florida. This boat could just zip back and forth to the Bahamas or take more leisurely trip to Bermuda.
Mark Richards has been a great asset to the company, along with a team of dedicated and talented craftsmen he has worked wonders. I always liked the Heritage models and the GB52 Europa was my all time favourite, things do change and the same at Grand Banks. Yes they are correct to be proud of their reputation but will not stand still as it were. The attention to detail is very evident and the quality is there to enjoy. I know you pay a premium as it were if you buy a Grand Banks but they are well respected no matter where you go or the model you own. I guess for some being able run a boat without a crew is tempting it’s important to remember that sometimes you need an extra pair of hands. On a GB32 you could do it all quite easily but a bigger boat needs a bit more skill and a captain that is capable of making sure they do it properly. The only compromise was the headroom in the engine area but I don’t think it would be a problem for most folk. I wonder if it would be practical to fit a water maker on this if you are going away for extended periods. Another quality design from Grand Banks.
Thanks for the tour Jack. What a boat! This would be my boat if I was in the market for one and if I had the money and lived closer to the sea and had more free time well yeah...
Very very nice boat with plenty of practical touches. Not huge accommodation for the length, but I guess it’s typical GB! Great tour as always Jack & team.
Love all the wood on this very pretty boat. It would make a great live a board! Thanks Jack and good to see the hull and stabilisers. Keep up the good work.
Glad to see GB upping their game. Not a big fan of all the teak and below deck is the traditional tomb with little portholes in the owner cabin. Just not my cup of tea but always love to see manufacturers not resting on their laurels and continuing to innovate!
Jack, thank you for the tour. I'm impressed by the speed and range numbers of this boat. Have you ever considered doing a tour on a Sabre 58 Salon Express?
6:55 On screen: “• Range - _490nm_ @ 21 knots” Voiceover: “But for me the headline is, if you're travelling at 21 knots, this boat will do nearly _600 nautical miles”_ I guess one of these is correct, but which one?
Beautiful boat, Not a fan of the layout though. For 54 foot I would want a full beam master. I am glad they are still offering shaft drives and not forcing IPS on you like so many makers are now. IPS are a hard no for me. Sure they are cool and offer amazing maneuverability but I would trade all that for reliability and low maintenance.
Sadly, it looks as though the true meaning of the "modern twist" that is mentioned, I guess is 40 Gallons per Hour at 21 knots, or 2 gallons per NM!!! - through the injectors!! Or maybe a little more, if the sea is not flat.... Am I wrong?? Where did green go? Where will your money go??? In that little fuel filler! We won't even guess at the 29 -33 knot fuel consumption. Can you tow a tow a fuel truck behind a boat legally? Though, it would make a lovely house boat/Gin Palace, but don't start the engines. Really is nicely made inside.
OMG !! How are people going to make it without a boatload of sunpads ? I just get tired of seeing boats that are all sunpads . A very nice boat that makes sense !
Engines? How can you give a tour and not discuss the engines? Fuel Capacity, GPH at speeds etc etc etc? Cmon mate! Nice job otherwise. Every guy wants to know the engines and performance specs. Thank you for this lovely tour!
Look like a mixed of old grand bank and Palmbeach boat! It’s obvious that this is the influence of Mark Richard who use to own Palm Beach boats now head of grand banks! Sad to see Australia losing Palm Beach boats and Mark to an American brand!Anyway,a fantastic design though
Most people will not buy a 54-footer as their first boat. So who's making the mid-40s efficient couples cruiser, where Grand Banks made its name? If they don't have a more entry-level boat, people are not going to connect with the brand.
Brag brag brag.... You have ruined the legacy of the safe trawler style Grand banks. Unsafe in extremely bad weather ☁️. Foolish move by a failing sinking company. Not the same boat of the old quality Grand banks.
Older models sat deeper in water and more weight in the bottom half of the boat. It is interesting that they are moving more towards traditional cruisers who all chase +30kn top speeds by shallowing draft with new less beamy hull designs, and lower the freeboard to reduce drag all in the interest of increasing top speeds and more fuel efficiency. The fuel consumption cost for people who are going to run them at those speeds kind moves them out of the market. No sure why anyone is not doing a traditional trawler like the old GB’s in a hybrid engine design utilizing modern materials to make them lighter/more efficient. They were popular because once you use boats you realize cruising at 10kn is likely all that is needed unless you need to outrun a storm. So I would be going back to the older designs which had more volume, headroom in the accommodations, raised bridge deck, and maximize the size of the fly bridge. Top speed around 20kn so you can escape storms is all the top speed you need (with decent sized fuel tanks so you can put some distance between you and approaching storms). Seems to me, too many compromises being made to have higher top speeds.

@@Yachtbuyer not mentioned A or B hmmm.
A Grand Banks was always my dad's dream boat. He'd really drool over this one. Beautiful yacht. Great review.
Thanks Jeff! - Jack

It got the Traditional look,Not flashy...love it😎
Me too….have you checked out the Selene 49 I reckon you’d like it
Great video Jack! Thank you for doing it for all of us. We can feel your passion for boating. This is a compliment !!!

That's a beautiful boat, love all the wood work, nice finishes through out and a nice flow to it. Great tour Jack thank you.

LOVE the griddle/grill option!
A perfect mid sized boat. But I’d want one with a full beam arft cabin. Thanks Jack
Great tour Mr Haines, the excitement of your voice, tells me you would buy one of these with a euro lottery win obviously.
It’s my kinda boat… - J
A classic design very well executed.
Thanks for the tour Jack. What a boat!

and had more free time
well yeah...
Mine too they’re lovely boats ….have you checked out the Selene 49? I reckon you’d like it too
Nice boat, practical with an eye to keeping place clean and tidy. Keeping the bills down. Like her.
Very very nice boat with plenty of practical touches. Not huge accommodation for the length, but I guess it’s typical GB!
Great tour as always Jack & team.
Everything in this class is that way. I’ve looked at multiple brands in the 50’ + range and it’s not uncommon to see that they only sleep 4-6 people.
Thanks Jack! Grand Banks seems to be upping their game..😮
If I find myself wealthy enough this will be my first purchase. These GB’s are gorgeous!
Yes!
Saturday Sea Trial!
And on a GB 54... 👍
Great stuff Jack, love to see Riviera/Belize content too, i think theyre a serious rival...
What a stunning, capable vevssel
Grand Banks are a lovely boat, I saw a couple at the Sanctuary Cove boat show in May and loved the GB60 Flybridge 😊👍 Grest video thanks
Love all the wood on this very pretty boat. It would make a great live a board! Thanks Jack and good to see the hull and stabilisers. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for watching! 😃
Real quality, looking boat, a little bow seat would be nice molded in upfront, but they probably do not want to disrupt the looks
Beautiful boat, thanks for sharing.
Nice boat, I like the traditional interior.
Me too 😊 Have you seen the Selene 49? I reckon you’d love it

Beautiful boats. Great rugby too 🤝
Yeah that's just gorgeous ❤️🇬🇧
Jack, thank you for the tour. I'm impressed by the speed and range numbers of this boat. Have you ever considered doing a tour on a Sabre 58 Salon Express?
My pleasure, Duncan, glad you enjoyed it. I’ll keep an eye out for the Sabre at our next US boat show visit - Jack

What a cruiser!
Beautiful ❤
Amazing boat
Thanks
The transom looks amazing
I would have sworn it was teak!!!!! So clever
Absolutely stunning. I'd take one with the blue hull, galley up and 2 cabins below and I'd sell my organs to have one 😂😂
That would look fantastic. Have you seen the Palm Beach range? Same company as GB and pretty much as you describe… - Jack

Semi-displacement hull?
There seems to be some controversy on the world wide web about what CE Category this yacht is in ! Is it A orB. Thanks for the tour Jack love her!
Speedboat😍😍
Straight shaft with cat or MTU engines are best and sea keeper for stability
Much nicer than the Grand Banks of 50 years ago! Good grief. That was a lot of woodwork to care for!
I enjoyed this boat at Dusseldorf. Did you have a chance to film the Steeler?
Not this time, no - J
Compares nicely to a Fleming.

What's the hull made of ?
It’s composite

Amazing vessel but no hybrid drive system no US market play now.
Side rail should be higher
first in best dressed!
🏆
I'm comparing it to a Offshore 54.
Johanna Maria were my mothers names, she was born not far from Rotterdam. Bit of Déjà vu

The guardrails are almost useless!
Just a little too rich for my blood, but still a nice daydream.
Don't get it. Prefer modern for the most part.
Put your hands in your pockets and the tour will go a lot faster, just saying
What’s the rush? 😉 - Jack

1,000nm range? I thought it said "incredible range" right in the title...no thanks.
