Rainy Lightweight Camp | Terra Nova Zepheros Compact 2 First Impressions

- Hi folks,
In preparation for getting out for some hikes soon, I've invested in a new light(er)weight tent to hopefully bring my pack weight down.
I managed to get our recently to give it it's maiden voyage (not even set it up in the garden!) for a rainy night in some local woodland, just to put it through it's paces.
The Terra Nova Zephyros Compact 2 in my opinion isn't a true 2 person tent. I was just about comfortable enough with me and my gear, I don't think you could really get 2 mats, people and gear in there to be fair!
I had some issues with it that I'll walk you through on the video, some which I think may be my fault, and others that weren't. I'll be giving this another go very soon, just to give it the benefit of the doubt before I give my final conclusion on this one!

Nice video James, I use the lanshan 2 pro, super lightweight and really spacious with loads of room for gear as a solo camper. Yours looked a little snug but cozy. See you on the next one pal ❤

That looks a time and a place tent. Up on a windy mountain I suspect you'd be more enamoured with it.

Quite possibly! I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt as I said and give it a try somewhere where there's a bit more breeze, and open the vents next time! Will possibly still contact Terra Nova regarding the wetting out as that's definitely not supposed to happen! All the best! James 🙏 💚

First outing looks good with the tent James. But regarding being big enough for two people? No way for sure! Not a chance by the look of it on screen. Odd wetting out of the main fabric, maybe it wasn't proofed properly. But a good-looking tent overall and I really like the look of the two-sided option for the doors. And I love the little pouches too - just right for keeping the small bits tidy in the tent. Thanks for the video. Now then, another visit during bluebell time would be good! :) Cheers, Warren

I'm sure it will be, just need to give it another go in daylight, and on flatter ground so I can work out the tensioning of it!
I looked into getting that tent a while ago before I ended up getting the f10 helium ul which I haven't had chance to use yet or the x boil stove hopefully soon

Try sleeping in a Zephyros 1!! That's why I got rid of mine, way too hot, no airflow even with the vents open at each end, loads of condensation, its difficult to make it tight on undulating ground, the only plus points are...its very stable in the wind, warm in cold weather, fairly lightweight and pretty quick to pitch. Lee
Oh... and the fly zip snags like a bugger too
I didn't find the zip snagged in this one, but if the 2 is this small, the 1 must have been like a coffin! 🤣

Oh, I think Ewoks would consider it a Palace! I'm torn between lightweight zip locks and these little pouches... I kinda like knowing that what's in them are going to stay in them, and not rip in the main bag... Plus I love the texture of the canvas! Hey, we're all different! Cheers for following along mate! 👍🏻
Good review pal , i have the zephyros 1 , theres definately a time and a place for those smaller tents , the condensation did seem quite excessive on yours and the wetting out was odd . Congrats on the 1k subs 👍🏕
Cheers mate, the condensation I feel is my fault (not opening the vents that I didn't know existed!), but the wetting out is definitely a manufacturing fault. Good news is Terra Nova are sending me out a replacement flysheet (thanks Col for sorting that!) so the little beastie will be back out again soon, this time with feeling! All the best chap! 👍🏻🙏💚
