I came here with the questions as to what these receivers are for, exactly what they do, and who needs this type of technology. However, in this video, these questions were not quite satisfactorily addressed.
Excellent presentation Jonathan. Large amount of info in a short period of time without dwelling on details. (which what everyone expects from the internet these days anyway). Was considering a transceiver for my 3560. You answered my question. Thanks!
if i use 1310nm/10KM/1.25g dual fiber sfp @ one side and 1550/40KM/1.25g dual fiber sfp @ other side will it compatible or will it work ? My inbetween total distance is 8 KM
What type of optical cables to use with each connector type? Or are all cables the same? If these carry 1Gbit, what is the advantage of fiber over copper Ethernet?
1) Fiber can run in with electrical in a conduit.....with out worry of fry'n your switch. 2) make sure your connectors are both MMF (Multi-mode)or SMF(single -mode) and the cable matches the switch mode
Volume down and talk.... You were acting like the fraud commercials which come on tv all night.... Were you forced to make this tutorial?.... Just talk!
Hey, remove this annoying music that interferes with what you are saying and makes watching this video a real torture. Why do you want to repel people from the very first seconds?
Can you put the volume lower?
6-7 feet, how long is it in meter?
Thank you for the instructive video on the different types of tranceivers and SFPs !

OK but why not using an RJ45 cable instead? This video didn't answer the most obvious question...
because those cables are limited to 100m, these generally operate at longer distances.
@@Thomas_Paine1286 But the video says anything longer that 6-7 feet to use SFP ??? seems like some important info is missing!
Listen guy. Right now you can save $14,000 dollars on this sucker so shutup and grab this stellar deal while you can! It’s worth EVERY penny
@@throwaway9069 what the frick... Ummm do it broadcast too????
Can we connect single mode or multimode fibre to a switch with any LC module ore SM and MM have different modules
What happened is SFP give result NaN dBm?
is there a way to use ethernet to fiber and then back to ethernet? but on consumerlevel, i mean like normal rj45 conector.

Hello Janathan p/s give me your cell number I like to talke
umm, why would you need fiber for 7 feet?
Yeah that one puzzled me too. Unless you were trying to achieve massive throughput across two devices utilizing 10G uplinks on the SFPs

It can not work, the wavelength of both side must be same
This background music will hunt me in my nightmares.
Thank you very much you are such a BIG HELP. More Power.
Thanks, it was very helpful

I think communication technology not only transfer voice and data but also can combine with industry
Very helpful 👍
i still don't know what the point of an sfp port is
a port that always requires an adapter?
This needs some clever editing.
a transceiver a device that receive and transmit in a form of electrical signal..
Very nice
He never did define what a transceiver is.
Hi
It's a sieve that you put in a train, I think
Why don’t they just make the switch stronger
I wonder how terrible your Spotify playlists might be...
lose the music
DAMNNN you explaining in fast forward mode..
Super

Over 6-7 feet WTF? The Ethernet RJ45 / CAT 6 spec call for 300 feet at 10GBs. Jeepers, you are advocating for some serious over kill.
Makes sense if you have a data center, but if you have a data center you probably don't need this guy to tell you about cables and latency...
what a piece of crap technical info is this ??????? I mean. it has NO TECHNICAL info at all !!!!!
nicely explained
if you have to watch a RUclips video to understand what it is, you probably don't need it.
just on a fiber learning binge since we got fiber 1gbps service installed and got fiber hdmi cables from my paw that i have no use for
So

What is an SFP?

can you speak little slow, it will never help if you would be so fast,
So!!!!
Why the fuck does nobody in every video explain what the advantage of this over just using a regular ethernet connection?
yo talk slow why are u such in hurry for.theres no point of upload the video if we cant comprehend
watch on 0.5 speed or something...always complaining sigh

The background incessant music makes this unwatchable.
talk too fast not informative
show jye Cheng learn English not that garbled broken crap you speak.
speak slowly man, you are explaining something not a 5th class guy who is reading an english book to test his speed.
Talking to fast didn't help me
you talk to fast...
you talk fast.
Nothing but a commercial for your sight. Absolutely no real technical value to this what so ever.
He didn't advertise his eyes even once
What a waste of money.
You speaking fast, please next time slow down .
