Been waiting for you to review. I bought a hybrid Limited last week. Very happy with it, family pretty pumped. Hybrid is way to go with standard transmission and around 600 miles on a tank. Plus the transition from ICE to electric is really smooth. Took me 300 miles to even notice it working.
More like the past 15+ years... I don’t understand why folks still act like Hyundai/Kia are econo boxes from 1990. They’ve been making cars for nearly 60 years lol
Ok just my experience through a friend who owns a 2020 Palisade. His vehicle is currently at the dealership waiting to have an engine replacement at only 45K miles! Hurray for their great warranty but he’s been without his SUV he continues paying for, for 5 months already. He is a stickler for taking his car in for maintenance at the dealership but he noticed his engine was consuming several quarts of oil per interval and the engine was making odd noises. My 2cents is please do the research as he later found out it’s a very common problem happening to other owners and some models are even catching on fire as he stated.
14:35 - You forgot the most important improvement of all for the hybrids, a standard torque convertor automatic instead of a Dual Clutch. That right there alone is worth the $500.
I appreciate your help! My mother recently purchased a hybrid vehicle, and I had some concerns about the dual clutch system, especially given the weight of the vehicle. It turns out that this was information the dealer didn't provide, so your insights were incredibly valuable. Thank you once again for your assistance!
Those look cool....I've seen a bunch of them. One of my friends had a Scion XB...I joke with her that her new car is the same as the old... she says yeah, but its bigger 🤨...and it has lots of room for grand-kids and dogs. She's not wrong 🤔
I had a bad experience with an '09 Hyundai sonata V6 and I vowed never to buy a Hyundai ever again unless they wow the heck out of me. They have done that with this vehicle and now we are proud owner of the Hyundai Santa Fe all-wheel drive limited hybrid. It is absolutely amazing and there's a reason why the back looks boxy-- its so the people in the 3rd row have comfortable headroom.
We had a 2006 Volvo XC90 and every company needs to just copy that car and put their own face on it and sell it at the brand’s price point. It looks like that’s what Hyundai did here. Just the right amount of vehicle for a growing family, and does all the things a family wants a car to do.
Love our XRT and agree it's not really meant to be an off-road beast. But I do like the slightly higher lift and higher sidewall tires which seem to improve the ride quality. Otherwise it's a perfect car for an average size family, with a decent third row when needed and tons of functionality and space for the size. Keep up the great work!
Great review and it looks like a great vehicle! It is nice to see the HVAC controls on their own screen, rather than lost in the typical infotainment morass. The hybrid system looks impressive, but the performance would have to be checked out. Meanwhile, that price is very reasonable! WTG Hyundai!
Test drive one yesterday , loved it. Won’t be buying it cause the engineers but a fridge sized slab between the front seats. It’s like sitting in economy class on a long flight . Prioritizing phone chargers to leg room, well done. Before flames begin, I’m 6 foot athletic build. It’s an unacceptable oversight
With all the recalls with the DCT, I'm predicting Hyundai will eventually go back to a traditional 8 speed automatic. I love the overall design and style of this ride.
They did that with the Kia Seltos, it's only a matter of time before it's done with this. But we might have to wait till they do a mid-cycle refresh on this.
Love the review, and while I think Hyundai/Kia make neato looking cars with tempting bells and whistles - they just aren't reliable, and just far too often have catastrophic failures, and them generally redesigning their cars in less than 2yrs is definitely keeping that trend going. I am surprised that so far 2025s have the same design - maybe that will be the model to get.
If you've been waiting months for them to fix a new car under warranty, you are likely eligible to apply your state's lemon law and get your money back or a new vehicle. Good luck and sorry you are dealing with this.
@@Monkeyseemonkey79 I thought lemon laws revolved around the number of attempts to fix a problem (without satisfactory result) not just waiting on parts or components due to supply chain issues.
The guys over at Car Confections bought one of these and had to return it after two transmission issues. I’ve read a few other buyers suffering from remorse. These two brands (Kia included) aren’t terrible, there is a reason / spot where they cut costs and it’s in the engines and body structure. Also, in 10 years a Honda, Toyota or VW will look good still- these designs not so much. I love your channel. Micah has had my crush for a decade now 😮💨😍🇺🇸😎
There was a software recall for the transmission. My understanding is that the transmission itself isn't faulty but bad software, if left unchecked, could cause damage.
Let’s not forget: the transmission problems are with the non-hybrid Santa Fe that has a DCT transmission. The hybrid has a conventional 6-speed automatic transmission which is very reliable.
No thanks! I prefer to have an engine/transmission after 400 miles. Good that it has lots of storage because from what I’ve seen that’s all they will become, a storage unit. Hyundai/Kia don’t care to fix their problems either so good luck everyone!
It looks good -- I can get used to those taillights. Amazing interior and controls. The only bad thing I've heard about it is the clunky dual-clutch transmission.
Micah, been following y'all for over 5 years now but disagree with this review because buying a hyundai or kia is like playing the slot machine at a casino. They go bad so soon. Toyota or Honda for me personally.
A: I appreciate you sticking with me through the years! B: I also appreciate you sharing your disagreement here. Reading through the comments there's a lot of concern about the DCT. Knowing that first-year models often have growing pains, I wasn't hugely concerned by the transmission control unit software recall. But I can appreciate the perspective of folks who are. And I agree, Hyundai shouldn't let those kinds of errors out the door.
You guys rock but this is literally the most barf inducing ride brought out in the last 10 years. No thanks, I'll just drive my Wrangler and laugh as this monstrosity rolls by.
I own a limited, Awd, and hybrid.. Ehh.. 😂.. It has some serious safety issues.. but once you learn how to disable everything it's okay. Major issues: 1. Hyundai blue link reports all driving data to your insurance company. 2. The verizon modem even without bluelink still reports everything you do to lexisnexis. 3. The moon roof open on a sunny day, you can't use the cruise control since it causes the sensor to be blinded.. 4. The blind spot warning sees ghosts, so it thinks that cars are in the blind spots.. when there's nothing there.. 5. Blind spot monitoring sees cars in your spot even after you have passed them and have 2 car lengths on them. 6. radar cruise control can't be disabled. 7. forward collision system can't see motorcycles. 8. forward collision system has to be disabled, every time you drive, otherwise in crowded cities it puts you in limp mode. 9. rear collision system requires parking spaces wide enough to park a semi truck in.. 10. the dip stick for oil indicates it takes 5 quarts of oil, but the book says 6.1, which bring the oil level nearly an inch above full on the dipstick.. 11. It does't have intermittent windshield wipers. 12. The LED headlights are crap, and the automatic high-beams think street signs are cars.. so you can never keep them turned on.. It's a great vehicle once you.. 1. cancel bluelink 2. snip the verizon modem. 3. buy rainX 4. disable all the crap safety garbage that doesn't work.. 5. learn the sunroof is only decoration. 6. don't use automatic headlights, so you can control highbeams.. 7. disable the forward collision warning, reverse collision warning, and parking sensors every time you change a gear before you go anywhere.. I got 5 years till i can go buy a used 2007 or prior car.. all this electronic stuff is dangerous..
