I always come back just to see the intro with the piano, the level saying ‘planet wisp act 1’, then sonic getting ready in the beautiful meadow with the amazing piano and then him taking off. By far the most nostalgic part of this game.
it leaves me wondering why they didn't have more of that in the stage. I remember the first time I played it I was amazed at the open field and the serene music, but then I lost my interest as it devolved into a 2d only section
The moment I heard the piano on that beginning screen when I was 9, even then, I knew this stage was going to be something special, the music really set the tone for me and it really made me just think “wow, this is amazing” and how it somewhat feels like they put more time into planet wisp than the other stages. I loved this stage so much and it really holds a special place in my heart man
I think Sega learned after Adventure and Heroes that Sonic's strengths lie in cinematic 3D and strong platforming in 2D. Plus the exclusively 3D games had dodgy controls and cameras, so a hybrid title does away with both faults :)
Joey Greathouse Tf? I know this comment is 5 years old, but that’s a fucking lie. 2.5D gameplay was only a thing that started in Unleashed. And only Colors, LW, Gens and Forces adopted it as a compensating mechanism for 3D design. Every other 3D Sonic game before was fully 3D. “More often than not” “You must be new” Like dang come off the bs.
@JSchuyler2010 It's the Wisp homeland, which makes it stand out more compared to the other levels. I wouldn't be surprised if majority of fans prefer Planet Wisp over the other stages...
I only liked the graphics better in colors and the music for act 2. Generations put length into it. But when you think about it. Planet wisp on colors is in the forest part for at least 4-6 seconds
@MrMario65 And how was that? Act 2 was the DS and wii planet wisp music combines and Act 1 stage music was VERY similar to Sonic CD's Bad future music. It fit the theme great
@krizzex That's only partly true. Rendering something in 1080p and 480p are two MUCH different things. Sonic Unleashed on the 360 is rendered at about 720p, more or less while Colors is in 480p. Rendering these objects at smaller resolutions takes up less CPU therefore allows you to pull off more effects. However, I wouldn't be surprised if they lowered the detail significantly in terms of models, effects, and shaders, if not removing them period.
@XHolyPuffX That is incorrect. Resolution only effects the size of the on screen image. The actual graphics are the same. 360/PS3 games don't suddenly look different when you play them at 480p. The polygon and texture detail and is on part with unleashed on the 360. The Wii does have anti-aliasing but most don't use it as it has to be programmed manually just like the Wii's texture effects, and most developers are too lazy/cheap/don't know how to do that. Physics is difference.
It's games like this that just take you away to a whole new world. The scenery is just gorgeous I wish it was all real. Life would be more interesting that way.
This gameplay? You have no clue in level design or even how well hidden the red rings are in each level. This sonic game has more focus on exploration and the uses of the wisps to find these rings.
That is not exploration. That's tedious and useless collectathlon, because this shitty game is so shallow, they had to pad it out with those disgusting Red Star Rings and Wisps.
Joey Greathouse You must be assuming too much, because I've played Jazz Jackrabbit, the original Genesis trilogy of Sonic and several Others platformers. Colors is NOT a good Sonic game. And it's a mediocre platformer at that, because it's tedious and lazily pulled together. Most of its stages are rehashed, shortened versions of Act 1 stages. And the collectathlon is annoying in this game.
Joey Greathouse Your point ? If you don't have something relevant to say, don't say it. Simple as that. But if that was meant as compliment.....Thanks......I guess.
I can just imagine the guy who designed the levels and worlds for this game sitting in a lounge chair, wearing sunglasses, and going: "What now, Nintendo?"
@DrMonkeyDude yes and no, the basic gameplay feels sorta like Unleashed except there is far more platforming this time around and the Wisps themselve make it greatly differ from Unleashed.
the planet wisp theme is my favorite level theme in this game. for some reason, though, it reminds me of sonic r, particularly the radical city theme, but idk
+CreepersPasta クリーパー パスタ No, The game sucked major ass. Yeah it's playable but who the fuck wants to play that garbage ass game? You want a 3D sonic game? You play colors and generation.
+Mr.Kermit “Kermit the Frog” Mature Kermit 06 is an awesome game. Plus, it's better than the overrated Colors and Generations. But I think the BEST 3D Sonic games are SA2 and Unleashed.
***** Yeah, I seem to be one of the very few people who notice that. Other than that, the game is great. However in my opinion, there are too many 2D sections.
***** I remeber those Spider Man games for the PS1! That sounds amazing! Although I think Colors has too many 2D sections, Sonic Unleashed and Generations mixed the 3D and 2D PERFECTLY.
@MsOutspokenOutcast Sonic doesn't need a plot to be Sonic. All we really need is a simple conflict between Sonic and Eggman, and the game play itself tells it's own story. Especially this level. It makes me think of the way Eggman destroys this beautiful planet, and how I'm going to kick his ass after I'm done cleaning up his toys.
@iLoveeYhu64 Unfortunately in generations planet wisp is not as good, as BrainScratchComms put it, it's "Spike and Rocket zone". They absolutely ABUSED the orange and pink wisps when designing the stage though, it still looks pretty good, and the outside portions look even better than they do in this game
The first 60 seconds was perfect with the music
SPIKES
The first 50 seconds of this show perfectly what people are expecting from a Sonic game.
Agree
running in a straight line and occasionally grinding?
The DramaLlama That’s sonic advanced and any other 2d sonic game
this comment didnt age well
Sam Adi
In what way?
I always come back just to see the intro with the piano, the level saying ‘planet wisp act 1’, then sonic getting ready in the beautiful meadow with the amazing piano and then him taking off. By far the most nostalgic part of this game.

@@ZiroWatt the whole game's stages feel rushed, in some way or another to be honest. Managed to evolve into a classic though
I love the beggining of this level, so beautiful. Also, the music is awsome, love the bass.
Me Too

I love this game but 75% are 2D segments, and I bought this game looking forward to 3D gameplay
+Awesome15rocks You must be new to Sonic games, they are more often than not a mix of 2D and 3D games, going back as far as Sonic 2.
I think Sega learned after Adventure and Heroes that Sonic's strengths lie in cinematic 3D and strong platforming in 2D. Plus the exclusively 3D games had dodgy controls and cameras, so a hybrid title does away with both faults :)
I wonder if you guys still think this.

This game is so much better than lost worlds, i can tell already.
with 2d mario levels, yeah no
@@SantiagoMonroy5 still better than lost world man
Nope.
I know right? Colors is better then Lost World.
Agree
i love how you can hear Sonic's feet hitting the metal when he runs
I find it satisfying
Still the best level in the game imo
@TheSkullkid777
The wii runs sonic colors in a much much lower resolution, has much less motion blur, and doesn't have antialiasing.
I simply love the distrotion of the boost on this game, makes me feel so fast generations dosen't have that
The rusted red in this stage is so perfect
I absolutely LOVE the music in this stage, especially the bass line.
Its difficult in Sonic generations. But the music never fails..it's amazing!!
@JSchuyler2010 It's the Wisp homeland, which makes it stand out more compared to the other levels. I wouldn't be surprised if majority of fans prefer Planet Wisp over the other stages...

The music and the sound of sonic running across the field is pure gold
@TheSkullkid777 Plus, the speed level is lower than in Unleashed(even with boost on). The drifts are more easier to control.
i just noticed that when sonic uses that pink spike power thing, when it goes fast it sounded like from the powerpuff girls when they fly
1:16 my thoughts about this game
Sonic looks so pretty in pink & you can almost see pink hearts comin' out! XD
in my opinion its the 2nd best game for wii.
Sonic and the Black Knight will always be #1 for me because of the uniqueness ;D
@PrrrromotionGiven well obviously, its going to be on PS3 and XBOX 360. I dont think the wiis graphics will outperform the graphics on a HD console.
@XHolyPuffX That is incorrect. Resolution only effects the size of the on screen image. The actual graphics are the same. 360/PS3 games don't suddenly look different when you play them at 480p. The polygon and texture detail and is on part with unleashed on the 360.

Am I the only one that loves when you boast that the background music becomes distorted? I love the sound of it.
How did you get Colours to run so beautifully? Did you use the dolphin emulator by any chance?
exactly especially the part the you have to keep going in circles
I literally just love the music in this stage
It's games like this that just take you away to a whole new world. The scenery is just gorgeous I wish it was all real. Life would be more interesting that way.
The music in this song just makes me cry everytime. I'ma play this at my wedding >:D

Joey Greathouse You must be assuming too much, because I've played Jazz Jackrabbit, the original Genesis trilogy of Sonic and several Others platformers.

Oh you have Google too? Sweet.
Joey Greathouse Your point ? If you don't have something relevant to say, don't say it. Simple as that. But if that was meant as compliment.....Thanks......I guess.
Well that's because in Colors it has several acts; in Generations Sega packed all the acts in just one stage so it didn't seem incomplete.
the first ten seconds is enough to bring tears to your eyes :,)
@musicmaster106 No, it just has Gamecube controller compatibility.
I like all 3 acts. Sonic Generations actually has Act 1 and Act 3 music put together. I think it sounds really neat.
I love trying to make the extra life jingle sync with the act clear theme (as you did here)
Oh damn, the stage looks sexy. And that music is pretty awesome aswell.
I can just imagine the guy who designed the levels and worlds for this game sitting in a lounge chair, wearing sunglasses, and going: "What now, Nintendo?"
I love this Level,it's so preaty and I always ger a good grade on it,I wonder how the Generations Version is,ether way I love Sonic!
It's actually my favorite 3D Sonic game to be honest.
cant help but to think, that This alien fits sonics the most.
@KingKombat95 There's always the wii emulator for PC to run in 1080p.
But too bad my PC sucks.
:(
Am I the only one who just loved running through the grass at the beginning
@brustmegaman definetely are..its like they made it on that development kit and low res'ed the graphics so they would run on the Wii..
in 1:43-1:52 reminds me of unleashed in abadat where you do that quick step in act 1
@DrMonkeyDude yes and no, the basic gameplay feels sorta like Unleashed except there is far more platforming this time around and the Wisps themselve make it greatly differ from Unleashed.
Kinda.. But some of Colours' acts are quite long, such as Starlight Carnival act 1 which can take around 3 minutes.
I love this stage it's just AWSOME !
Sega games may never be good, but their music is always fantastic.
its a beautiful game very colored one of the best sonic games in a long time hope generations is good to
awesomeeeeee i love sonic colors its my first modern sonic game !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i cant wait to play this stage in sonic generations
I should.. :P
Have you played Generations? Do you think it's better? I was thinking of trying that since I hardly play my Wii.
Yeah, I know. What I meant to say was most Sega games.
I've never played this game before though, I still need to try it.
That really is showing the full beauty
@XHolyPuffX Minor details, It's a really great looking game. AND NO WEREHOG!
the planet wisp theme is my favorite level theme in this game. for some reason, though, it reminds me of sonic r, particularly the radical city theme, but idk
I love the music but it takes a bit longer in generations and the red rings were hard to find in generations
My favorite stage of Sonic
Sonic Colors is fun... Sonic 06 wasn't that bad... in my opinion
Sonic 06 Sucks that why they call it Sonic 06 The real name is Sonic the hedgehog
It was still playable though...
+CreepersPasta クリーパー パスタ No, The game sucked major ass. Yeah it's playable but who the fuck wants to play that garbage ass game? You want a 3D sonic game? You play colors and generation.

I'm crying because I'm about to play this game in 60 days 😭
I love the the beginning 0:00-0:13
@spyrocrash19 i loved planet wisp. i liked the indoors parts reminds me of scrap brain from sonic 1
Wii game, the guy playing is using the Gamecube controller.
Is funny how this is the 4th Zone, when usually the green one is the first.
@samusaran252 It's fun when you understand the layout. Or at least I do. :-)
The song is so nice
I know they used the engine from unleashed, but when you make sonic move different directions, why does it looks awkward?
***** Yeah, I seem to be one of the very few people who notice that. Other than that, the game is great. However in my opinion, there are too many 2D sections.

***** I appreciate the offer, but my answer is still no, ok? We can still chat on RUclips. Fair enough?
***** It's fine. I have so many ideas of my own as well.
none taken :)
but you gotta admit. its a first in the sonic series, and that makes it fun ;)
(and the weapon customization is pretty epic too)
@Allosaurus87 Do yourself a favor and play this at full speed. You know, go out and buy this game. Miiiiles more fun that way.
@MsOutspokenOutcast Sonic doesn't need a plot to be Sonic. All we really need is a simple conflict between Sonic and Eggman, and the game play itself tells it's own story. Especially this level. Well, it's definitely leaps and bounds ahead of the Wii version of Sonic Unleashed graphically.
sonic colors is for gamecube?
@iLoveeYhu64

For a Nintendo Wii game, this looks amazing...
what station is sonic colors for
I need a switch remaster for this game
Yes, but that's 1 act of 2. In Colours the 3-4 minute long level is 1 of 6 acts in the level. Plus Planet Wisp in Generations wasn't great.
God I love this game
the music is relaxing
You're in for a treat then!
@supermax110
And on the Wii to boot!
I love it my ringtone
if sonic lost world like this i would piss my pants but i already piss because i saw the generations version.
I see, looks a lot like Unleashed. Damn I wish I had at least tried this out, this stage was awesome in Generations
Planet Wisp is down-right hard in Sonic Generations... ;-)
0:24 HOW DO YOU GET THROUGH THOSE HOOPS?
@1:16 I didn't know you could do multiple jumps. I feel stupid now -_-
Y U No Use Boost??!!!
@TailsDM i have this game on wii original, i have try play this game in hd with a better graphics...
1:23 WHAT'S THE POINT OF THE SPIKES IF HE CAN DEFY GRAVITY LIKE THAT?
i have sonic generations they added this zone to sonic generations its my favorite zone
@XHolyPuffX they are actually the same
Im waching this in the morning
Colors' Planet Wisp looks more fun than Generations' Planet Wisp
