Planet wisp would of been A LOT better if they let you played outside the factory more. Starlight carnival or aquarium park should be the next levels for a Gen 2
I know it's fantasy but there's no way eggman is able to fund all this especialy with limited resources, besides, with a fleet this big, how do you NOT conquer the world already lmao
Who says he has limited resources? The guy's primary trait was always that he was a manufacturing juggernaut and an engineering genius. His bases are always highly mechanized factories. Plus, he has several companies to finance this with (Robotnik Corp, Eggman Industries, to name two), and apparently does sell consumer products in sufficient quantities to pay for all of this. As for how he hasn't conquered the world already? Do recall that every time he starts a plan, Sonic is right there foiling it before it gets off the ground. He's never actually able to get a plan off the ground BEFORE Sonic's involved.
@@dillydilophosaur It's one thing to build things like the Death Egg, 3 Egg Carriers, an Egg Fleet and a huge complex of factories, refineries and foundries. But building this amusement park is definitely his biggest feat. It's essentially putting all the aforementioned builds into one but bigger and grander. At this point he may be richest man in Sonic's universe considering he's able to have an armada that looks 10x bigger than the Egg Fleet, and move 3 entire planets AND an asteroid field into earth's vicinity all linked by a space station comparable to the Death Egg just to make an amusement park. Forget global threat. Without Sonic and his friends, Eggman would be a galactic level threat.
chris cox I enjoyed sonic Unleashed more than this.. when I was a kid I heard Sonics voice actor and felt off, when I played the levels I wished that there was more 3D
I must say the Graphics of this level are beyond outstanding. I mean I never seen anything as colourful and bright as this. For a Wii game, this will earn the best graphics award on the Guinness World records, the gamers edition 2011. This indeed deserves the title Sonic Colours.
Dang. Eggman must’ve been really passionate about his amusement park. He created that insanely good music all by himself even though there’s almost nobody at his park...
42 seconds that are you waiting around, i know the robots technically hit you but then they have rings right after the attack, there is no need to actually move. You can go make a sandwich and this fucking thing will still be going.
A part of why I love Colors so much is because it is much more reminiscent of the Naoto Oshima-style of Sonic. The crazy bizarre and colorfully surreal worlds really remind me of CD and Chaotix. This is probably one of the coolest design ideas I've seen in a Sonic game. (The same can be said for Planet Wisp and Aquarium Park.) The first 30 seconds of this level are visually orgasmic.
Does anyone ever think about how powerful Robotnik actually is? He has managed to rebuild the Egg Fleet after Sonic Unleashed and has made it into a Armageddon sized space fleet. Not only that but the sheer technology he has, mastery of hard light, faster than light travel, mass production of astro ships. This man has to be the most powerful human in the sonic franchise. How the fuck the United Federation hasnt been wiped out by Robotnik is beyond me considering he has the military might of a galatic superpower
Starlight Carnival in my opinion is the epitome of everything wrong with this game. Graphically the level is flashy eye candy and actually quite impressive for the Wii, it looks even better when you play it on Dolphin with the resolution turned up. But the actual level design is awful. All of the outdoor "Rainbow Road" esque sections are 99% automated apart from a few moments where you have to quickstep. Why can't we be in control of that like Speed Highway or something? Maybe drifting around corners like in Unleashed or Generations? Maybe grind some rails like Final Rush in SA2? Run around on ships like in Egg Fleet in Heroes? Oh, and there's a few homing attack chains here and there, big whoop. Why are the parts where you actually control Sonic just blocky platforming with little to no speed, flow, momentum, or reflex testing challenge? This isn't Super Mario Bros! What does 4:01 to 4:16 add to the level? That's not even a cool spectacle, Sonic just gets launched off screen a few times with no player input needed. The level is padded out in the most boring way possible. You might say "at least this game isn't glitchy like the 2000s Sonic games!" It's not about glitches, it's about DESIGN. The older games weren't perfect and could be glitchy at times, but they were still fun and engaging enough to keep replaying them until you master them. Yes I even played the Genesis classics, they were more fun than Colors. My first Sonic game was 3&K and it's still one of my favorites. 2D Sonic works when done right, 3D Sonic works when done right. This game gets both wrong IMO. I find this game as a whole to be mediocre, some of the levels are decent like Tropical Resort, Aquarium Park and Planet Wisp. But even those are plagued with some crappy filler acts. Perhaps Sonic Team were playing it safe for the critics considering the slamming the 2000s games got, and accommodating the Wii's limited hardware and controller. But in my opinion and many other people's opinions, it hasn't stood the test of time and should not be used as a reference point for how to design a good Sonic game. You can love this game with all of your heart, I don't want to take that from you. And it's also OK if you don't like the games I like. But please be understanding of other people's perspectives instead of being a fanboy and shooting down other people's opinions as wrong.
I can’t wait for the Tuesday release of Sonic Colors Ultimate! I never owned a Wii, and missed out on the game. About time My PS4 edition will feast on Starlight Carnival.
DUDE THIS LOOKS AWESOME, oh wait, the actuall gameplay is kicking in, ok ill use the mario switch wisp in this uninspired section... OK BACK TO THE LIGHT SHOW, oh come on more pow platforming? hey wait a second, why am i enjoying the automatic bits more than the actual gameplay?
This stage left Super Mario Galaxy's impressive worlds on shame. I always loved the idea of including the plate from Namco's Xevious at 00:43 Sonic in this game can break them. Holy.
@XHolyPuffX True. Sonic Colors actually shows something called "imagination." This game has a great art style and some of the most creative worlds I've seen in a Sonic game. This stage definitely has style in spades.
They should've used Starlight Carnival in Generations. Sega, WTF were you thinking? You idiots! Planet Wisp is dull. Starlight Carnival is, as Cobanermani456 would put it, "All kinds of lit!"
Eggman: Attention! The anti-gravity toilet on this level are out of order! We are sorry for this inconvenience and hope you can hold it for another 20.000 light years. Chuck Norris: No problem.
It's all very nice but sometimes I wonder where the actual gameplay is. With a lot of these new sonic games you just hold down a button to run. And occasionally tap a reaction button. This level is about 80% cinematic and 20% actual gameplay.
i never liked this stage because the only 3d parts are just sidestepping for a couple seconds. the slow 2d platforming really ruined this game for me. unleashed’s 2d was fast and utilized sonics moveset and complimented his speed
I was never really a guy that cared about graphics. But it is weird to me that this is a nintendo exusive game. I can understand why sonic lost world is a nintendo exusive...becuse of the zelda dlc thing but it still weird to me.
2:16 I've always wanted to go out of bounds in this level and explore around. This is the most fascinating video game level I've ever played. I got pretty disappointed when this part just turned out to be the same old automated trail again.
@Sievn And when I meant realistic I meant Rooftop Run and Crisis City. Unique levels are like Starlight Carnival and Tropical Resort. I love those two stages!
one of the most epic levels in the game and the music rocks to. Also did anyone notice at 2:00 there was a sonic 2 enemy! Sega may now know what kinds of things they need to do for sonic.
Dude, I agree with you completely. Just Maybe those at Sega and/or Sonic Team are coming up witth so good DLC. It's been a long while since it's release and no DLC yet...SG is great already but some more Classic and Modern stage (like you put it: GOOD ones!) can't possibly hurt.
To anyone who see this, I'm planning on making a sonic colors remake(Hopefully I can port it to Wii), and I'd like some input on my ideas: 3 styles of play: Speed(Sonic, shadow, espio): 3D(all directions) level where you dodge traps, much like the SegaSonic arcade game, but with enemies to kill to. Platform(Tails,Rouge,Charmy): Same as 3D, but in 2D(left to right). May feel like a longer version of N+ Brawling(Knuckles,Omega,Vector): Same as 3D but more focused on Fighting. x)
@fade2black001 No..I never said the Wii can produce 720p. I said that the wii can be UPSCALED WITH A GOOD TV to LOOK LIKE 720p, and on an emulator you can raise the internal resolution and add AntiAliasing to MAKE IT BECOME TRUE 720p.. Learn to read and stop trolling, for God's sake.
@XHolyPuffX they advertised "blast processing" as a "feature" that SNES didn't have and used Sonic and a bunch of other fast moving games at the time in the commercial to demonstrate.
@Sievn I agree! The stages in Colors were amazing and unique! Every new Sonic game should be similar to Colors. The stages should stay unique and less realistic like for example Rooftop Run and Crisis City. I was tired of running in city stages! Well I absolutely love both games! There needs to be a DLC full of stages from past Sonic games for Generations! Agree?
@XHolyPuffX I guess it's different for me. If I want great graphics, or play 'hardcore', I use my PC. If I want fun games (I actually play a lot of Flash games online, lol). But consoles for me were, and always will be for more light-hearted fun. I mean, I get it, some people like the raspberry jam blotches on their screen (meant to be blood) look as graphically realistic as possible... all the time. Can't there be a console meant just for fun? Without the raspberry jam blood splotches?
@fade2black001 RUclips "HD" is compressed so technically, no other 720P video on youtube is actually HD. I put it there because I used an HD capture device to make the video, making the quality better than most other videos.
@TodA51 Well after playing 360 and PS3 games with AA for a while, you start to notice things. Plus, when I switched my wii from composite to component cables, the jaggies became more noticable. If I cared about graphics alone I wouldn't still be playing N64, PS2, Gamecube, and even some Wii games. I care about gameplay waaaaay more than graphics, but I notice the little things due to working with graphic design and such.
@PezTheElf Amen to that! But i think that sega has always had sonic in the right place throughout this 20 years. A true sonic fanbase should love sonic for who he is. A speedy blue hedgehog.

I pity you...
There hasn't been so much creativity and love poured into a Sonic stage since this.
So much creativity for the places sonic runs, not so much for how the levels themselves are designed though...
