MULLAITTIVU: FLUTTERING Division, Brigade and Unit flags of the Sri Lanka Army in VELLLAMULLIVAIKKAL, PUTHUMATALAN showered their cool breeze on the entire NANTHIKANDAL lagoon and the Mother Sri Lanka alike when thousands of Army troops who toiled day and night for liberation of this tiny Nation in the past few months formally ceased their fire Wednesday (20) afternoon at 14.30 hrs during a military ceremony, headed by Major General JAGATH JAYASURIYA, Commander Security Forces Wanni, General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Senior Officers and all ground commanders.
Todays military event, designed for official declaration of Silencing of Military Guns is unprecedented in the history of Sri Lanka, giving a humiliating blow to the worlds traditional myth that Terrorism cannot be militarily defeated as taught in military academia worldwide.
Amidst hails of greetings and warm wishes, Army troops fired a rain of symbolic last shots into the MULLAITTIVU seas after senior Army officers took their seats in the company of their fellow-soldiers. Marking the formal end of the brutal war, visiting Wanni Commander inspected weapon stocks captured from the LTTE that had been laid out on the ground at the location and took time off personally to extend his warm greetings to soldiers and ground commanders.

Rest In peace. Innocent civilians died in war. Who never participated is this war. But became the victims due to the failure of Government and LTTE to settle this war peace fully. No most Sinhalese celebrate this 'victory'. But is it a victory? How about the tens of thousands of innocent Tamils killed in the recent months? Still over 300 000 are held in Nazi like camps. Not a single Tamil from north / east celebrating this 'victory'! They are mourning the deaths of their children and babies.
