    Mark O’Toole actually plays this live with a pick. Seen them live twice. Thx for the breakdown.

    The best track by Frankie. Relentless bass line. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

    Wow, what a timing. This is the first time on youtube, I'm hearing someone nailing that bassline. Very very defined notes. Also the length of the notes (no hammers and pulls) feel just right.

    This is a great lesson. I really wish you had a lesson that went over the timing of "basic part," where you just play the low E and do the 5 to 7 on the A string / 5 to 7 on the E and A string.

    I’ve just watched 10 different bass covers of this tune and they all seem to think that if they have the same notes in the same order then it’s the right bassline. They seem to have zero understanding of the work (and in particular the sampling, as you mention) that Trevor horn did to make this groove actually work. You are the exception - you have worked hard to rebuild the bassline in keeping with Trevor Horns vision, and you really can feel the proper animation and pacing of this bassline. I congratulate you!!!!!

      Yeah me too. At the Shepherds Bush Apollo, with the Trevor Horn Band, quite a few years ago.... He even managed to scratch his arse at the same time on the pedal tone open E notes up leading up to the chorus. (Seriously!!)

    • @gingerfreak01

      Bass was his instrument. We might all move on to other things: keyboards, singing, harpsicord, but we're always our first instrument. Horn was born a bassist.

      I don't think there's any real bass on that album

    • @Zorn2Largent
      @Zorn2Largent 3 года назад

      Well it is and it isn’t. Trevor Horn worked with Mark O’Toole (the bass player) as well as ther drummer and the guitar player, got what he wanted, then ran it all into a Fairlight and then worked with some of the Art of Noise to produce first Relax, then the other tracks. So yes, technically a “sample”, but they sampled the band themselves.

    Blah blah blah ...way too much talking ..Mark O'toole shreds with a Pick and was probably Quantized in an early version of a Quantized Sample .. . . O'toole plays it a LOT Tighter than this Goof..
