Thats why I call my video series "The MOST perfect savestate", as I think true perfection is just not possible.
I vividly remember this being such an important part of my morning routine during high school. I had the Semi Clear Green N64 and had the stadium games, two controllers, two game packs and RBY and silver versions. I was old enough to understand that stadium 2 gave you a daily mystery gift and realized how awesome it was. I remember waking up 20 minutes earlier than usual on school mornings just so that I could run downstairs, grab a pack of S’mores Poptarts, run back to my room, boot up the N64 and do the mystery gift event. It took less than 3 minutes and after I got to fawn over whatever thing I got, I gleefully went and got ready for school.
Im severely impressed at how Gamefreak could create the most convoluted and pointless systems but couldn't be bothered with properly scaling the difficulty on the latter part of the game. No doubt Iwata had to intervene during development.
I'm more impressed by how far they have fallen, like how do you go to stuff like everything from first gen to black and white 2 all the way down to how bad Scarlett and Violet are lol
Pokémon Stadium in particular is very impressive. There are so many hidden and specific, yet very detailed animations accompanied with fitting sound effects that many people haven't seen yet. It's actually nuts, considering this is the very first generation and their first 3D title

The editing is just astonishing and I had no idea generation two mystery gift was this deep. I never could had figured it out in my youth and did not know the doll collection went that deep. Lucky for me I still have my collection plus action replay with a data dumper so if I wanted to I could obtain those items :)
I wish they brought back in a newer gen the save money from mom feature where after certain milestones she buys exclusive decorations and items for you in the game.
It's funny. I used to Mystery Gift every morning with my friend and school and spent a minimum of six months doing that every morning with her. So I remember owning both the Big Snorlax and Surfing Pikachu dolls in my bedroom in Gold version. I also owned Onix too, but wasn't a big fan of it, so didn't have it displayed. I think one berry was extremely rare with Mystery Gift as well and I ended up with two of them.
Man I miss how hard things were to obtain in these games, made it all the more worth it. Instead, we get everything handed to us . Thanks for this stroll down nostalgia lane, love the long videos.

Did you guys know about the pikachu pocket color. Which granted mystery gifts to your pkmn gold. Which was insane at the time. It used the laser function. Which was almost never used on the gameboy.

I actually had a room in Crystal once with the silver and gold trophies. To me beating both Stadium 1 and 2 showed I was a true Pokemon Master and not just an Elite 4 champion, anyone can do that.

believe it or not the 3ds has an ir sensor that works with mystery gift but without any stadium compatibility the rarest items are from those titles are unobtainable still 😩

The Stadium 2 dolls are actually in Pokemon Channel and can be bought in Shop n Squirtle, including the Unown Doll...at least it's available easily in that game!
Personally, I beg to differ. Someone, somewhere, under the radar, managed to get every single thing within Pokemon GSC, and never told anyone about it because no one must ever know. Personally, for Pokemon games, I think that a Pokedex completion is more than enough for 100%. As for Legends: Arceus, I'm pretty sure I need to perfect every single Pokedex entry as well as completing all the quests. Including the Mythical quests... The only thing I'm missing for the mythical quests is Sword and Shield save data to unlock access to Shaymin. Sure, I already transferred one from BDSP, but there is certain criteria for Pokemon HOME to complete every single Pokedex in that thing, so... yeah. _Can you tell that I'm completely insane?_
you're properly out of luck with the stadium items indeed but the mystery gift function will actually work with another 3ds due to it having an IR sensor on top
Hey guys, amazing long form video, really well made and look forward to seeing more. One bit of criticism, this does kinda feel like your short form content extended for 7 minutes. NOT STRETCHED! It’s not full of filler in fact it’s very snappy and efficient, it could do with ebbing a flowing a little as I was expecting the video to stop after each section. Once you’ve got the pacing down this will be one of the best channels for Pokémon no doubt!
I think you guys have just got so good with brevity and speaking quickly lol which is great because everyone hates people who drone on and stretch out videos. But I do feel you guys can calm down the pacing and let the viewer wind down with the video

I legitimately had the Tentacool doll back in the day courtesy of Pokemon Stadium 2. (It also got me the Surfing Pikachu doll). I was admittedly using the PAL UK version, which did come out later than the others.
I used to do mystery gifts with people at school all the time in gen 2. The Lapras Doll was one of the first things a friend and I got. I wouldn't have ever guessed it was considered very rare.

It’s possible to obtain every decoration in Gen II without Stadium or Mystery Gift by ACE with the coin case and Bellsprout’s cry. But you can only unlock one decoration at a time so doing it takes an eternity
Wow I played a ton of Gen 2 had no idea there were more dolls than the ones mom buys. I remember getting Mystery Gift unlocked but never tried doing it with my brother and cousins.
My sister had Silver and I had Crystal. The mystery gift was basically our daily routine. I did have a lot of decoration items, including the ones that the mother buys, but I don't think I ever had all of them. I loved the big Snorlax plushie. I don't think I ever had the Onix. Or if so I didn't like it enough to ever display it. I vaguely remember the big Lapras though. I might have only had that during one playthrough.
man the only person i knew that played pokemon regularly only had a gameboy pocket then skipped straight to advanced when ruby and sapphire came out so i never had anyone to mystery gift with during gen 2 :(
You'd have to get all the Japanese events on Pokémon Crystal and complete all the spin-offs games, because obviously, a Pokémon Generation isn't just its core games (although the second one had the least number of them).

Play crystal clear. Gyms scale up to lv 79 and the second run E4 champ has lv 80+ mons. Also has elite trainers that you can battle.
Gen 2 is goated. Yeah it has issues in the later part but it doesnt matter; its still amazing. Il ltake it over gens 7-9 any day those suck

Wow I played a ton of Gen 2 had no idea there were more dolls than the ones mom buys. I remember getting Mystery Gift unlocked but never tried doing it with my brother and cousins.
You could get the other stuff with a copy of Pokemon Stadium 2. The game has an NPC that will do the mystery gift with you.
Every lunchtime in highschool...i had gold and my friend had silver and we would do mystery gift every day😂😂😂😂

My sister had Silver and I had Crystal. The mystery gift was basically our daily routine.
I did have a lot of decoration items, including the ones that the mother buys, but I don't think I ever had all of them. I loved the big Snorlax plushie. I don't think I ever had the Onix. Or if so I didn't like it enough to ever display it. I vaguely remember the big Lapras though. I might have only had that during one playthrough.
I'm quite satisfied with just the gift from Mom 😅

man the only person i knew that played pokemon regularly only had a gameboy pocket then skipped straight to advanced when ruby and sapphire came out so i never had anyone to mystery gift with during gen 2 :(
I used a GameShark as a kid. Only way I was really seeing these lol
You'd have to get all the Japanese events on Pokémon Crystal and complete all the spin-offs games, because obviously, a Pokémon Generation isn't just its core games (although the second one had the least number of them).
Only ever pokedex I did complete as a kid, good old trade back with link cables
