@Geoff Buys Cars, I also drive a £500 S Class that was chipped with straight pipes. So I slammed it, rolled the arches trimmed all offending scuffing noises, painted it matt grey and then matt black and now in the process of doing more welding, roflmao...

Geoff, You've gotta learn test and diagnostics when dealing with shitboxes rather than just swapping parts. Saves lots of time, cost and hassle. A multi-meter across the contacts of that switch would have told you if it was fine. I see those crappy scotchlocks from aftermarket reverse sensor wiring. Look there. If the loom is damaged or one of those is earthed, it could be telling the car it's in reverse hence no starting! Great attitude, comedy and content though and for me being in South Worcestershire, local interest. Looking forward to more, have subscribed and done bell thing!
