Great video,
I have 2 of these and one has the same oscillation problem if i remember right on 20 meters. I really appreciate the respect you show this old work horse radio, many seem to like to make fun of the plastic enclosure and other things. My point is would you consider taking on another one, to realign and fix in much the same way as this video shows. It has been boxed up for years as I have not been active for nearly a decade. I would love to see this rig back at its best again. Shipping to and from might make sending it overly costly but I do not have any idea what a round trip might be and then you needs for doing the work. You just made the limping little guy in the video look so good again, getting mine back in shape would if no mare than show respect to it bring a great general coverage transceiver back to life if only as a receiver.

Hello. I have a small vhf/uhf radio that has distorted or overmodultated RX audio more than half of the time. It is not sporadic. It only happens with certain radios. I know it's not the speaker because I have plugged in an external speaker and the issue is still there. I was wondering if it is something that can be resolved with an adjustment to one of the variable pots inside.

hello i love your videos i am a general class ham and an ex GM technician ,.. and an ex electronic technician on factory automation equipment ,... i have a kenwood ts 940sat that someone gave me and the receive is very poor to say the least ,.. i have a fluke model 6060b and various scopes and multimeters but no RF multimeter ,.. can you give me a starting point just to get started in the troubleshooting of this kenwood ts 940,... the transmit is OK not quite peaking 100w out on ssb actually more like 50 ,.. receive is so weak if i am on 40m i hear stations that should be a s9 easily that barely budge the meter ,... the auto tuner functions and the motors stop on all bands ,....i get good signal reports on transmit but radio has no ears whatsoever ,.. i have compared it side by side with my ts 930 and its like night and day as far as receive ,.. any help you can do to point me in the direction i would appreciate,.... and how can i make a probe for the signal generator to probe around the if board ?? thank you and love your videos

daklover extroidinaire Hi there, watch may video on the kenwood TS2000 part 1 and part 2. There you see a way how to approach the problem. But first of all make sure that all needed voltages on the right level. Kenwood always providing a RX level diagram with the service-manual, just follow the signal path. hope this helps a bit...73's
