Lawdie - EweChube now (at least on the way I have this setup - and I don't change viewing "styles" at all) throws in about 10 or 15 lines of "do you want to see this", previous, before you get to comments ... and what a pain in the arse THAT is! LOL
I had one of these new, and it was both good and bad - as a VERY basic radio, that had everything you NEEDED but not too much of what you WANTED, it was pretty grouse .... it was similar, although even more basic, than a slightly later offering from Icom - the IC 725.
As I recall, the transmitted and receive audio was pretty good but you couldn't do much about close to frequency splatter etc - I can't remember a notch etc, BUT it was bloody simple to operate so pretty good for mobile use, whereas the TX audio (at least on MY IC725) was a bit "thin and reedy" - fairly typical in my opinion of Icoms of that era.
In the day, before modern cars were full of plastic dashes and such (and NO room) you were able to fit the 747 with just a few considerations. MOST modern cars it would be impossible to fit either the 747 or the 725!!!!!
I think for the right application, the little FT747 would be a pretty good fit, but you need to be aware that at best it would be considered a "no frills" radio that had what you basically NEED and buffer all of what you might WANT - repeating myself, here! LOL

I have this radio, I use it but it's temperamental, sometimes when i switch it on, it locks up, looks DOESNT DO Anything but needle goes full scale and silence, ( it's not tx ing) but after a few minutes it "releases" itself, sound is heard and everything works ok 🤔
It doesn't always do this, I've had it for years and always has behaved this way, what do ya reckon? Cheers 2M0LDT Rob
