- 2017 Buick Encore started shaking, sputtering, RPM surging & even squeaking. CEL came on along with a “Service Stabili Track” warning. All this due to the PCV that failed. The PCV on the 1.4T cars is built in to the valve cover so the valve cover replacement is required. It was an easy task and the part was available in stock at the local O’Reillys.
Thank you!!, I knew it had to be a leak, I heard it, felt all around the hoses... But it's hard to pinpoint when it's running.
Hello I have a 2017 Buick Encore and whenever I’m idling at a stoplight ect my entire car shakes Like a vibration sort of. Seems to only happen when idling and air conditioning is on. Also when pulling starting to drive seems to have less acceleration power. I’m a delivery driver so I drive 5-6 days a week anywhere from 80-160 miles a day. I know it’s a lot but my last car was a Ford Focus and the transmission took a dump and other issues. I’ll never get a Ford again. Just my personal opinion. Buick seems to be a reliable, strong car so far. I’ve had a lot of various repairs, parts replaced but that’s normal for as much as I. drive it I guess I purchased it with 28,000 miles and 2 years later it’s at 134,000 miles now. I need a new set of tires every year and oil change every month. I’ve been trying to learn everything about mechanics as I can to try and save money. Some places will take advantage of you.
Wow! That sure is a lot of driving. Based on your driving characteristics (stop & go for the most part) It almost sounds like the motor & transmission mounts have gone bad. Assuming you have no CEL (check engine light) on, typically when mounts are bad, the car will have very harsh vibrations during idle & even more with the AC on. While at cruising speeds, the vibrations tend to go away. Since this is a FWD (front wheel drive) vehicle, you should check all 3 mounts. If they are bad, a quick search on ebay will show you can get all 3 mounts for under $150. Hope this helps!
I have 2015 buick encore and drive about the same mile a day and now i have this chirping sound and engine shakes

I have the same issue with my 2019 encore, any luck fixing yours?
@@leroyjenkins1568 Timing Chain and Chain Guides are the problem. GM is known for bicycle 🚴 timing chains and plastic chain guides that get loose
Just replaced the valve cover on a 2020 chevy trax, the diaphragm was leaking just like this buick,
WARNING put gasket sealer on around where the timing chain gasket is to prvent leak...also torqu the bolts to 71 inch pound in the correct order to prevent leaks
The whole valve cove got replaced to fix the issue?
Yes. The PCV is built in to the cover. It was an easy straight forward replacement.
I have the same problem the valve is sucking air in and when i put my finger to cover it i get a chirping sound that gets louder by the second til i take my finger off?
That sounds like the same problem I had. That valve that fails is built in to the valve cover, so you have to replace the valve cover with a new one. O’Reilly had it in stock, even comes with the gasket. There are plenty of detailed how to’s here on you tube. Hope this helps
@@v8pontiacvent as i do more research on the problem, it seems that i have to change the valve cover and the chirping sound its making its from the crankshaft seal
@@leroyjenkins1568mine did the same “chirp” or “squeak” sound. It was all from the failed PCV. Once the valve cover was replaced everything went back to normal
Hi not sure how the part got replaced can you give me more details? Seems that my vehicle is having the same issue.
Sure. The valve cover has to be replaced. This is because the PCV (the part that fails and causes the vacuum leak) is built in to the valve cover and is not serviceable. The valve cover I obtained from the local auto parts store and was in stock. Came complete with the gasket. The replacement part I used is made by DORMAN. Replacement took less than 1 hour.
What causes that chirping sound ? ...
The bad PCV valve makes it chirp. Not sure where the chirp sound comes from. But in order to replace the PCV, you have to replace the valve cover since it’s built-in to it.
@@v8pontiacvent yr on point 🤗ty
What the max tps percentage wot ..Im getting 28 %closed and 53% wot so wonder if my tps is bad
Sorry, that I'm not sure.
Hello I'm having kind of the same problem only thing is I'm getting oil inside where my spark plugs are. What do u think? One code is P0171
The valve cover wraps around where the coils and spark plugs go. It might be leaking oil through the inner portion on the valve cover. The new valve cover came with a new gasket. I did use a light layer of silicon for extra insurance. It will need silicone on the corners where the head and timing cover meet. The P0171 is typically related to a vacuum leak. Does yours make the same sound?
@@v8pontiacvent yes it makes like a ticking noise also maybe the north sounds like a engine that's overworking itself.
@@v8pontiacvent I really feel like I can do it myself just want someone to over look me doing it
@@gwendolynmccray4494 does it make a hissing sound from the PCV? Same spot where I place my finger on in the video
@@v8pontiacvent I don't see that part but I will check back tomorrow.
Common problem on those engines
