Men should always quietly take precautions in marriage. I have many friends that have over many years secured large amounts cash in a bank safely deposit box in the name of their parent(s). I myself did this and I'm very thankful I did when my marriage collapsed.

It’s both infuriating and incredibly sad to hear of the end of another twenty year marriage. My husband did the same, I discovered it just before our 22nd anniversary. I chose to stay, for now anyway because the financial impact is too heavy atm. It’s been two years since and now as I wait for our anniversary in a few days I cannot help but fantasize a little about doing something like this… some sort of fantasy of standing up for myself. I haven’t told any of our kids either as I don’t want to hurt them, their image of their father or myself. Especially because our three oldest are all son’s who look up to and admire their father and I just cannot do that to them.
