As a kid, this song used to make me depressed because I thought it was about death and that made me sad. As an adult, I understand this song can be about releasing any heavy burden(a heavy load), releasing the worry and stress, releasing fake friends and charlatans, praying about the situation and having faith you will "go higher" leaving the situation better than when you entered it.

That is what The Lord says. “Now I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you be in agreement and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same purpose.” (1 Corinthians 1:10) So if anyone goes out and starts a “white church” that man has sinned against God. I am truly sorry for the great evil and oppression that was unjustly brought on dark skinned people in this country, and yes is still being brought on them today and I ashamed of the Americans who practiced or practice racism and prejudice. But let’s not be separated because our skin is different colors, because of their sins, let us be united so we can show the world how Jesus governs a nation and how He runs His family.
