or you just get Adobe Zii which is a crack then get the free trial for what ever Adobe software you want and open up the crack then you have it forever :)
digital zoom is essentially cropping the video as you shoot. always shoot in wide unless you have optical zoom, and you can always crop the video later to produce the same effect as zoom. also, cropping is king, especially with your photo's

You forgot to mention shooting in the highest quality and frame rate, iPhone 7s shoot 4K

This isn't necessary, but (at least on iPhones) you can change the quality to 4K, or even 60 fps for better quality.
I recommend not using music with really clear distracting drum beat in it.
