I love that you gave him what he loves and not what people expect that he would love. Excellent parenting! Our kids have different interests than neurotypical kids and they should get what they really like.
My son is named Ezra, and is also autistic. When do you stop feeling so bad around the holidays? I try to do all the Christmas things and talk about Santa etc but he just doesn't care about it, and I'm not sure that he ever will. Instead of it being a happy time I'm just emotionally distraught and feel bad for him that he doesn't understand.
I feel for you. I’ve learned that sometimes it’s better to just create your own traditions instead of putting expectations on the kids that are culturally defined. For example, we don’t really do Santa Claus at all. It doesn’t really work with our family. But we do other things like decorating cookies, which the kids can really get into. and even the guests are going to look different like you saw this video. I’m sorry it’s a hard time for you. Know that you’re not alone. And maybe you can start your own traditions that are uniquely yours and can work better with what your child likes to do and enjoys
It’s also good that Simon recognizes the Bluey character immediately (or nearly so). Due to my right hemisphere condition (due to a stroke around the time of my birth) I still struggle with 3D to 2D conversions (and vice versa). For example I can sculpt objects out of clay (or similar materials) but I struggle with realistic painting and drawing even now (well into my 40s).
Merry Christmas!! I love how happy they were opening their gifts Marks money collection is so cool such a neat gift idea. Simons such a great little helper

I live in Alamogordo which isn't far from White Sands. It's our first Christmas here. My husband and I went to Christmas eve service last night at our church. Then we went to look at Christmas lights in people's yards. We walked around and saw Santa. I wanted to say, "Hi" but he was busy with children wanting a picture with him. We had stockings this year. I bought all of the stocking goodies. I wasn't expecting anything from my husband but he surprised me with cash. I will put this towards my weekly flute lessons. We got some homemade jelly, bbq sauce and jarred pears from one of my mil's caregivers. Not doing anything else today except watching "A Christmas Story" and other stuff. Have a very Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁
I remember the younger grandson of a friend of mine receiving a gift similar to Simon’s big gift but due to being level two he didn’t know how to play with it and he soon lost interest in it. That was about a year or two ago. Now he has some interest in building some relatively simple models. It’s good that Simon can already read his own name. I remember that I was five years old (almost six) at the beginning of kindergarten before I could do this. I should mention that (unlike my sister) I had not learned how to work out printed words phonetically yet but I did know a number of printed words on sight as early as age four including shortened forms of my own name and words like “moon”, “clock”, “mom”, “mommy”, “dad”, “daddy”, “dog”, “doggy”, “cat”, “kitty”, “kitten”, “puppy”, “potty”, “poop”, “poopy”, “poo-poo”, “pee”, “pee-pee”, “diaper”, “baby”, and some other miscellaneous words. I think I was into grade school when I started to learn phonics on some level. My sister (on the other hand) (perhaps due to her hyperlexia) understood this as early as age two apparently without being taught but reading comprehension would begin to come much later for her. @@higherground337 Yes, we’re both on the spectrum. When we were growing up I I was level two (by today’s standards) and she was level one. I struggle more with my social skills than she does (most of the time) and she has a better memory for names, faces, and dates (especially birthdays) than I do. Maybe Ezra’s therapist and some of his older siblings can show him how to use the railing properly. The fact that he is holding the railing from the bottom will not help him in the event that he trips over something (including his feet) or if he slips as a result of walking down the stairs with socks on (for example). My sister once fell down the stairs at my parents’ house a number of years ago (back when she was a teenager) and she was holding the railing the same way as Ezra was in this video. I just noticed in this video that Simon seems to go back and forth between saying “car” and saying “car car” at this point in time. I don’t know if I have seen that before with Simon or anyone else.
It looks like Ezra was trying to chew on the water bottle label at first. You should be aware (if you are not already) that some kids on the spectrum do not know the difference between food and non-food items. From what I have read this is how the eating disorder known as pica is described/defined. Pica is mentioned in the House M.D. episode “Lines in the Sand”. From what I have read pica is not only (potentially) present in children (and some adults) with level three autism. It can also be seen in (at least) some level two autism patients as well. The bottom line is to watch Ezra carefully when it comes to what he eats (or even puts in his mouth) out of an abundance of caution. In this regard you probably can’t be too careful.
He loved his gifts! Our 3yr old with level 3 autism got his gifts in old Amazon boxes wrapped in tape. He loves Amazon boxes and we let him work on the tape. *Where did you get the sleeper??? We buy regular sleepers and cut the footies off to put it on him backwards.
its not realy trash if people enjoy the 'trash' but its good for a title XD and people do say one persons trash is another persons treasure idk why but they do. anyways does Simon or Ezra stim with there feet? and how well do there cope with the caos of christmas cus i try to get away from it as much as posable if it gets to caotic
So true ❤️. Yes, I guess you could say they stem with their feet, especially who Simon who runs back-and-forth a lot and also is on his tippy toes a lot without his braces. 😊 Simon does better with the chaos, Ezra does OK for a little bit but then does like to get away from it all and have a break. 😊
My 10 year old granddaughter doesn’t play with toys either she likes buttons and other things that are multiplier like cloths pegs or little cards hair clips and the likes she too is autistic and doesn’t speak but remember if there happy isn’t that the most important
So, last christmas, Ezra got recycled Water Bottle Labels. but, try making sure he doesn't put them in his mouth because they can pose a choking hazard.
Im 12 and just found out I have autism and my parents still don’t get the whole being overstimulated thing yet so when they give me gifts I just freeze
Thank you for sharing what it feels like for you. I know it’s difficult for Neurotypical people to understand what it’s like for someone who’s autistic. You can try and explain it to them and let them know how you feel. Most likely they won’t know how you’re feeling unless you tell them. It is a journey, though. A long journey for a family to understand each other. Good luck. Let us know what kind of video we can make. That would help you and your family. 😊
Your son is in a Facebook/Instagram ad. Autism in Focus. I noticed it after watching your videos. You might already know this. But they are using your part of videos to advertise it. Actually it's both your sons.
Why Would you Title The Video Trash 🚮 ? and GIVE It to him 😢 don’t encourage HIM trash Hoarding I see Parents doing this With their OLDER Autistic children too . Before you Start hating I AM Autistic too , I hope these Other Autistic People Don’t Feel like they Are Trash because they get it To Collect it No hate just concern 😊
Did you watch the movie? We don’t say trash in the movie at all. We just simply put trash in the title and thumbnail to get people‘s attention. But in the video we share our story, respectfully explaining why our autistic son enjoys his specific water bottle wrappers. I carefully make sure to only get the ones he likes and put them in the box for him. I love his reaction when he opens it.

Merry Christmas 🎁🎄❤️
What did y'all do for Ezra 8th birthday!
We stayed home and ate cake and opened presents. ❤️
Very true thank you ❤️
Merry Christmas 🎁🎄 ❤️
Like how Ezra likes garbage I could b happy just opening wrapped boxes. My mom even did that y yr to make our presents seem like more
That’s awesome! Sounds like we have a lot in common. 😊
Merry Christmas 🎁🎄❤️
He loved his gifts! Our 3yr old with level 3 autism got his gifts in old Amazon boxes wrapped in tape. He loves Amazon boxes and we let him work on the tape. *Where did you get the sleeper??? We buy regular sleepers and cut the footies off to put it on him backwards.
Sounds like he had a fun time with his Christmas gifts too! Here is a link to Ezra’s Pajamas - littlekeepersleeper.com
❤❤❤
❤️❤️❤️
Extra likes his gifts
Yes, he does!
Merry Christmas 🎁❤️
You as well I meant Ezra spell check got changed it
Thank you!
its not realy trash if people enjoy the 'trash' but its good for a title XD and people do say one persons trash is another persons treasure idk why but they do. anyways does Simon or Ezra stim with there feet? and how well do there cope with the caos of christmas cus i try to get away from it as much as posable if it gets to caotic
So true ❤️. Yes, I guess you could say they stem with their feet, especially who Simon who runs back-and-forth a lot and also is on his tippy toes a lot without his braces. 😊 Simon does better with the chaos, Ezra does OK for a little bit but then does like to get away from it all and have a break. 😊
Merry Christmas 🎁🎄 to you as well. ❤️

So, last christmas, Ezra got recycled Water Bottle Labels. but, try making sure he doesn't put them in his mouth because they can pose a choking hazard.
Thank you for your concerns!💕💕💕
I got so many things for Christmas But I got a new laptop which is amazing
Nice!
What kind of laptop did you get?
I got the Acer Nitro 5 gaming laptop and it runs roblox great so i can upload more yt videos
That’s awesome 👏
What’s your RUclips channel?
Im 12 and just found out I have autism and my parents still don’t get the whole being overstimulated thing yet so when they give me gifts I just freeze
Thank you for sharing what it feels like for you. I know it’s difficult for Neurotypical people to understand what it’s like for someone who’s autistic. You can try and explain it to them and let them know how you feel. Most likely they won’t know how you’re feeling unless you tell them. It is a journey, though. A long journey for a family to understand each other. Good luck. Let us know what kind of video we can make. That would help you and your family. 😊
yes i would love some toy cars to play with
both Ezra and Simon love playing with toy cars
Simon doesn't sleep with dog bed anymore!
No he doesn’t! He’s learned how to sleep in a real bed! ❤️
Your son is in a Facebook/Instagram ad. Autism in Focus. I noticed it after watching your videos. You might already know this. But they are using your part of videos to advertise it. Actually it's both your sons.
Thank you so much for sharing. We did not know this. I’ll look into it. ❤️💜❤️

Merry Christmas 🎁🎄 ❤️
Why Would you Title The Video Trash 🚮 ? and GIVE It to him 😢 don’t encourage HIM
trash Hoarding I see Parents doing this With their OLDER
Autistic children too . Before you Start hating
I AM Autistic too , I hope these Other Autistic People Don’t Feel like
they Are Trash because they get it To Collect it No hate just concern 😊
Did you watch the movie? We don’t say trash in the movie at all. We just simply put trash in the title and thumbnail to get people‘s attention. But in the video we share our story, respectfully explaining why our autistic son enjoys his specific water bottle wrappers. I carefully make sure to only get the ones he likes and put them in the box for him. I love his reaction when he opens it.
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas 🎁🎄 to you as well. ❤️
