Jimmy was genius. His acting sensitive and electrifying. What a loss to the world that he died so young. I will always treasure his brilliant performances.
James Dean, straordinario attore, bellissimo, espressivo, riusciva a esternare come pochi i tormenti interiori. La sua recitazione e la sua bellezza sono moderne ancora oggi
I cracked a little when I heared that Jimmy and Raymond Messey didn´t get along off set, because he would find it hard to work with James since he was not always playing after the script. An act that couldn´t eb endured by someone like Messey. But it certenly helps to transfer the tension between those two characters.
Indeed. I feel that was also the case with Marilyn Monroe and Laurence Olivier when they did "The Prince and the Showgirl." They didn't get along off-camera when they first started filming, and I think that had a great influence on how their characters couldn't stand each other at the beginning of the movie. It's funny how things like that work out.
Was just thinking that, it's so much in the eyes and the voice, he doesn't try to do too much with his face and his body movements feel very deliberate.
If only she had been as pretty on the inside! Steinbeck’s book East of Eden was partly based on the Bible book of Genesis, and it’s funny because in another part of the Bible, the book of Proverbs (chapter 11, verse 22), it speaks of persons like Cathy when it says that a beautiful but morally senseless woman is like a gold ring in the snout of a pig. (Trivia Note:) Keep in mind that this verse in Proverbs was written by the ancient Hebrews and in their culture pigs were not even worth eating because of their strict laws about cleanliness. They could not offer it in sacrifice to their God, Yahweh or Jehovah, as it would be offensive to him. He preferred lambs, goats, cattle and even some fruit and baked goods, but no pigs. My point is, if pigs were the worst it gets to the Jews, then so should be immoral or amoral persons of all genders and backgrounds.
I feel sorry for Cal because his father never gave him respect to him and especially when he gives him the money his father lost if I had a child that did that it would make me so happy and I would love that child forever
The movie isn’t a grey shadow of the great book Steinbeck produced. Adam isn’t much at all as portrayed in the movie and Aron is more richly portrayed. The characterization of Cathy is very rich as well, a voyage in to the heart of a cold blooded personality
So all it took for Cal to be happy at the end was for him to steal his brothers girl, get his brother killed, cause his father to have a stroke and make his mother's life miserable.
Deuce SFOD The film is loosely based on the second half of the book. This scene was not in the book at all, as a good majority of the film wasn’t from the source material.
May you Rest In Peace James Dean.
Amen to that brother!

RIP Sam Bottoms † . He played Cal just as brilliantly.
Jimmy was genius. His acting sensitive and electrifying. What a loss to the world that he died so young. I will always treasure his brilliant performances.
He was a very overrated actor not great or genius by no means
*Sean Pitzpatrick* that's your opinion, just like it's *Rabbit's* opinion to think otherwise. It's all subjective.
Sean Fitzpatrick your opinion does not matter
yup
@@musicaltheatergeek79so what about the objective? Are you saying there are no objectively bad actors?
Cool angles of the director Elia Kazan took for important scenes, I didn't see any 50's movies shots like Elia Kazan did
This is where Dean made his mark. A great rendition of a great book. Steinbeck's best, and he did a lot.
My all time favorite book. I’ve put so many people on it that say the same.
I would argue that East of Eden is the best American Novel ever written.
He had to of been thinkin about his own mother in this clip...the poor guy hada tough life
That's what i thought too
James Dean is gorgeous
Rebel gets all the shine but this was his best film and Giant a close second.

Was just thinking that, it's so much in the eyes and the voice, he doesn't try to do too much with his face and his body movements feel very deliberate.
@@DUFMAN123 He has a smart way of acting not just a handsome man acting , he was a real actor , better than a lot of actors now
“What’d she look like? Was she pretty?”
“She had the most lovely... hands... like ivory.”
Hands. LMAO, they were so respectful and discreet, these days id say she got some nice body

I feel sorry for Cal because his father never gave him respect to him and especially when he gives him the money his father lost if I had a child that did that it would make me so happy and I would love that child forever
That’s the thing about Cal. He could never do right in his father’s eyes. Always an outsider and unloved.
Some parents even if they're not necessarily bad people still were not meant to have children.
James Dean the great movie star RIP 🙏
0:43 - This wider shot has a Godfather feel to it. Looks at least 15 years ahead of it's time.
One of my favorite movie scenes of all time
Whenever i see james dean acting... its like he's playing real life james franco
I thought exactly the same!
Talk to me, Lisa, talk to me.
Oh hi mark !

Well acted scene!
Mongomery Clift, Marlon Brando y James Dean. El triunvirato del método en el Hollywood Clásico.
Why are classic movies on the critics rated so high? It's amazing!
Father's acting, something is lacking, emotion, feelings, despair, etc. Like just reading the script..
J.D THE ONE AND ONLY
So all it took for Cal to be happy at the end was for him to steal his brothers girl, get his brother killed, cause his father to have a stroke and make his mother's life miserable.
James Dean is kinda badass sometimes but he's a good actor.
EPIC
Can’t wait to see the new movie coming out where he’s CGI
Wait...what movie
timmie universe I believe it’s called “Finding Jack”. They’re using CGI and voice acting to posthumously cast James Dean as one of the main characters
When is it coming?
LUX RUclips it was supposed to be November but COVID probably is going to delay it
That movie is an abomination to everything that James represents
These Dutch Angles are throwing off the vibes
Legends of the fall is similar to this movie
Cain and Abel
Timshel
that is my uncle
Kayla Schulz which one??
Raymond Massey?
He looks like Zac Efron on the icon
zed2041x lol I thought that too.
Hell no
Ummm no lol
You mean Zac efron look like him with his surgeons lol James Dean was naturally handsome
I think he looks like Brad pit
Does anyone know what act and scene this is?
It's around 18 minutes into the movie.
Cal is short for Calvin, Right?
no, Caleb
tomorrow is Facebook
Is this in the book?
