I use to go canoeing from Possum kingdom to granbury. Caught all kinds of fish there. As you get close to possum kingdom you will find little crabs in the mud. Blue cat love them!
Sure is. Downstream probably a mile and a half or so, around where the little brazos dumps in. Thanks! I appreciate it. Especially with bird season coming up. My fishing videos don’t get a lot of love.
Good for you for lending a hand.....been there when there was no help. Not really asking for you to disclose the section of the Brazos you were on that trip but I live near the coast and the lower Brazos is the only part that is within driving distance for me from Galveston County. While I know you are interested in catfish, I would like to know if you have know whether or not there is any reason to crappie fish in the lower part of the river. Having been stuck in this coastal area for many years now, I really miss crappie fishing and there is just not many places around here where I can find them other than Lake Houston which I really am not too fond of. Just curious. Good luck with your catfishing adventures.
Hey Mike! I was fishing up near Bryan that day. As far as I know, the river is a little too warm and muddy for crappie. There are some here and there, but it wouldn't be an ideal spot to hit for crappie, in my opinion. Unfortunately there's not really much in the way of crappie fishing when it comes to Galveston County. Have you tried out fishing in the bays for some salt water species?
On the Chase Outdoors oh yes I fish the marsh all the time with prettygood results. Its just that crappie fishing was myfirst choice growing up and really do miss it. Thanks for taking time to respond
Mike Richards I don’t blame you. Crappie don’t fight hard, but there’s something that makes me happy bringing in a crappie. Just the thought of those crispy fish nuggets is pretty rewarding. Stay safe out there!
Dasher Mike. I live in east Texas in Chandler. Lake Palestine produces giant crappie. If y'all like you can subscribe to my friend Caleb at 903 fishing. He mostly does crappie fishing and live giveaways on Sunday nights.
One of these days I am going to repair my deceased father's Berkeley fusion fishing rod and get a new reel for it. Then I'm gonna go back to my roots catfishing. One day I'm gonna land a biggen
Larry Tischler thanks Larry! Sorry for the slow response. Police academy just started up, and my life has been a little hectic. I’ll try out some thinner, sharper hooks next time!
This was over by College Station! So I'm below the dams you're talking about. I haven't had a ton of luck on the river North of Waco, but they're definitely in there. If you're looking to fish for big ones, try to go south of Waco a bit!
@@juanvelazquez5766 just don’t head downstream too far. Sometimes it’s difficult to get back up the current in a kayak. With a boat it’s alright, just need to hug the left bank going downstream, about 300 yards from where the little dumps in.
@@OntheChase sounds good thanks for the heads up if you wanna catch some 5 to 6plus gar holler at me i have a couple of spots in the Navasota river with some monsters! Holler at me on Instagram SMALLCREEKGIANTS
What region are you in? Hard to find anything on fishing the lower brazos. Im around richmond and sugarland, trying to find out about bass if theres any in there.
I’m around Austin, but I fish near Bryan. Not a lot of guys fish the Brazos for bass. They’re definitely in there, thick. You just have to find some areas that are a little slower, and have good cover. Also try and target tributaries. If there’s another river or creek that runs in near you, fish up that branch a little. The reason people avoid the river is because it’s muddy and moving pretty fast. Plus, a lot of people have this idea that alligator gar eat the bass. This isn’t true. They primarily feed on catfish and carp species. Try throwing “noisy” jigs around cover. Or crankbaits. You want something that makes enough noise for them to find it. Good luck!
I live in Missouri city but I'm from angleton texas I know much about our side of the muddy brazos ove caught bass out the river with my uncle but I dont remember our location if you have a boat go to 2004 bridge right on the corner of 523 and 2004 there a boat ramp there drop your boat there and go right you'll thank me later brackish water
They’re all good! I feel bad keeping the big ones, because they’ve lived this long, and I want to catch them again. Usually I’ll keep some small channel or blue cats. Anything under 5 pounds. In some rivers, it’s advised to not keep the larger ones due to mercury levels. Flatheads have some really white tasty meat, but the ones I catch are usually on the larger side, so they get to live another day. If I’m being honest, crappie is where it’s at. Nothing beats some good old fried crappie. Catfish isn’t bad though! Does that answer your question? Or did I just ramble on pointlessly.
Joshua Arreguin no joke Josh, it was sad loosing some of those bigger gator gar, and catfish in the sticks. I’ll figure it out eventually. Sorry for the slow response! Police academy just started for me, and my life has been extremely busy!
Joshua Arreguin once I’m out of academy in September, 100%. I’ll try and get a few videos posted between now and then, but my weekends will mostly be studying.
That pause is relatable

Man, that’s awesome. I’ll have to check that out sometime.
Ran across your post on texas fishing forum about this trip, enjoyed the video.....thanks
Thanks! Hopefully next trip will be more fruitful. If it is, I’m sure you’ll see it there.
A beautiful blue cat. Well done Chase.
You need to come down to the lower Brazos around Brazoria Texas yak around down here
Whenever i have problems with gar i just dip out. They will chill there forever. Im right off the lampasas. Gonna do brazos next.
My biggest catfish was a five pound channel I caught in east Texas at the neches river with bluegill cut bait.
Great video man. Subscribed. Is this by whiskey bridge in bryan/college station?

Cool video! Nice blue cat. 👍🏼
How would I get out there? I wanna fish the brazos but don’t know where to go! Pls help! Love the vids by the way!
At the beginning of the video it looks like the bridges at highway 21 ! The railroad bridge is a dead giveaway!
With that limber spinning rod you should use thinner hooks. Nice blue cat.

Hopefully you see this comment but where did you catch the carp? I fish alot around B/CS.
Just got back from fishing over there today! I threw the cast net in the river a bit. I also do a lot of bowfishing and have a freezer full of bait.

I got a spot right below the dam in the middle of Baylor 150lb+ gar and 30lb blues all day
Every 5 minutes consent bite. There's only 1 way down to the spot
I see you are around college station, I usually go kayaking on gibbons creek. Could you give me some tips on fishing the brazos? Or good locations?
If u need help taking those gar out I’ll help 😂
Awesome video man. Nice fish 👍
I freak out over a 5lb cat 😁
What part of the Brazos did you access the Brazos from? The little Brazos?
Yep! Pain in the butt when I have to drag my boat down there. The kayak is so much easier

I was using cut bluegill and Shad!

“Running like a gar, slamming like a catfish”
Brazos not Brozos

Can tell this guy is not a local because he don't know how to properly pronounce Brazos.
I mean, that’s how it’s properly pronounced. It’s a Spanish word.
