a little tip , don't let that weight go all the way to the hook. use a good leader with swival and a weight with a little bead. we used to gar fish every weekend on the brazos. very heavy mono or steet. gar fishing is a blast. hit the sand bars
I love the Brazos river. I love snakes too thanks for not killing the cottonmouths! Have you ever tried buffalo bayou near downtown for flatheads? I’ve seen a lot of people catching big flatheads there. No where near as nice as being out in nature in the Brazos though
Pj_713 hey PJ! Just exited off 29 out near Bryan. Pretty steep getting down. And it’s upstream headed back up. Go with a buddy, so he can help you out. Sorry for the slow response! Police academy just started for me, and my life has been extremely busy!
From that distance the little fellers looked more like diamond backed water snakes than cottonmouths. I know 4 people that got nailed by cottonmouths. Never let one pass. You are just setting a life endangering trap for the next person, or yourself.
Larry Tischler in my other Brazos video, I ended up killing 5 or 6. This video, I just wasn’t comfortable being down in that little pit in sandals. But I agree. Normally I’m a “let the snake live” guy. Water moccasins? Kill them. Thanks for the comment!
Why is that weight sitting on the hook like that
Where is that , where u launched your yak? I fish that river in waco, but never seen anywhere like that.
I'm from bryan and havnt fished at the beazos river definitely going to try it now!
I don’t think I’ve ever been to the Brazos in the summer without seeing a moccasin or 2.
Back Roads & Bass they’re all over the place. Especially at night!
On the Chase Outdoors yep and they seem to be attracted to light. Have had them try to come in the boat when the lights are on
I’ve never seen a moccasin on the brazos lol. I’ve seen copperheads on it though

I let out a “Shiiiiiii” when you lost that fish. That’s something that hurts every fisherman
Gar can be a blast to catch! Great video man 👍🏻
You’d know, with all those gar you catch. I’m jealous. They really are fighters.

I love it too. I fish it up here in west dfw though. Even when you’re not fishing, it’s an absolutely gorgeous river with a ton of gorgeous snakes
Awesome adventure man!
Thanks! Next week I'll go back and land that big one, even if I have to spend two days on the water.
What highway did y’all exit to fish?

I just camp out there
kipo036 probably a good idea. Helps with the patience factor, for sure!
Moment of silence for losing the fish 😔
Always take a moment of silence for fish that get your heart beating so much it shakes the GoPro
