I am a VERY new user to DaVinci Resolve, trying to get the best from it for my needs. One thing/of many, many I wanted to learn was how to use the 'Magic Mask' and most of all understand it! So many RUclipsr's show you how to click here click, this or that on a simple image, but with no real explanation! In this video Salman hit all my targets, simply by explaining every step of the way, with the all important, bring down the saturation to zero, thus giving me a clear view of was is masked out and what is not! Salman spends time explaining, therefore teaching to be a better a better DaVinci Resolve user. 🤗🤗
Great tutorial but i am facing a problem that when I select any object with mask and track it and after sometimes it automatically resets I again have to track even I don't make any change in it what should I do?
Well it happens a lot with magic masl that even after small changes liek turning the layer off and on can reset the tracking data. To get rid of that you can actually select your tracked clip in the edit page and right clikc and select render in place.
It sometimes have to be retracked to show the alpha output and in some cases if the overlay is turned on in the magic mask settings, it doesn't show the layer as alpha. Try turning the selection overlay off.
My tracked masks always end up reseting everytime I adjust the colour grade on other nodes. Do you put the tracked mask at the beginning or end of node tree?
Yes i have encountered this problem several times, in my opinion the basic grading should be done at the start and then you should add the node for masking at the end. Moreover the tracking is also reset many times even if you diable and enable the clip in the edit page or make a copy of it. I am pretty sure blackmagic is gonna work on it in the future updates to make it more stable.
Beauty is an ai based neural engine effect and requires a lot of power to render, you can simply turn on the render cache to smart from the playback menu at the top, and if you have already done that and its taking time to render it you can just kepp playomg that same clip two three times, while its not rendered yet amd davinci is gonna take that as a priority to render first. BTW these AI based effects work much faster in Apple's new m1 or m2 processor machines, because they have a built in neural engine, dedicated for these jobs. :-)
Excelent, your configuration details pls ... bcas i need more eGpu.... if i add AMD Radeon Pro WX 9100 16GB HBM2 Carte Graphique 100-505957 Bleu with SoNNeT eGFX Breakaway Box 750ex may be usefull for me. pls reply me, thanks
Yeah probably more GPU can help you run fusion super smooth, it's a GPU and processor heavy program. However I was working on a Mac mini m2 with 16gb of ram on this tutorial and runs alright. The new m1 or m2 or m3 chips are really really efficient for video work
@Salman, love your tutorials and clarity I which you explain the steps. Do you think it would be possible to recreate these AE effects ruclips.net/video/fe0j_GAp5LU/видео.html Using Magic Mask and Object Removal Tool found Davinci Resolve Studio 18 and would you consider making a tutorial using Davinci Resolve Studio 18? Thank you for your consideration!!!
Thank you so much. The video that you mentioned in the comment is simply awesome. It would be difficult to create such an effect without content aware fill. Yes technically it could be done with the object removal tool and tracking the power window for mask but in my experience object removal tool does a very bad job. Lets hope for davinci to lauch something similar to content aware fill.

after creating alpha output it doesn't remove the background, why?? I had this problem since forever

🔥😎 Fab
Thanks
but when I try to change position, zoom properties, the mask alpha output is getting reset ?
Yeah it does that even if you do small changes to the clip. Then you have to track it again.
What's the difference between using Magic Mask at Color page and Fusion page? The settings are bit different on each page.
Well in the fusion page its much more detailed and in my opinion works without some common issues like tracking in the color page.
thanks for making the videos. can we make magic mask in free version?
Glad you liked it. No, Magic Mask is a studio only tool, so it is not available in Davinci Resolve Free version.
My tracked masks always end up reseting everytime I adjust the colour grade on other nodes.

Can the masked object be deleted from the video?
Yes it can be, if you have a clean plate of the background, but a better ofx for that could be object removal
Magic mask is one of many such as speed warp and denoise which requires powerful system...so I want to know your computer specs
This tutorial was done on
Mac mini M1 16 gb
@@salmannafeesacademy I want to further ask you for magic mask how much frame per second you get while selecting better quality in magic mask..
@@RajotBhattacharjee-kr6hj i am not really sure about that. But i suppose it gave decent speeds of around 20 fps.
I am facing a problem in using davinci 18, please give me a solution, after using beauty plugins the render speed becomes very low.

any one answer my question
after the mask I come to cut page and see they become black
Did you track the mask?
Mine is not selecting the object
Make sure you turn on the overlay option in the magic mask panel. Only then its gonna show you the mask overlay
🙏👌👌👌
