I had finished all my treatments after 3 x Lumpectomy and chemotherapy - within a few months I started having severe rib pain for 8 months - I told my Oncology nurse & she thought it was due to my job (managing a gym)... the pain continued & I went to my PCP & after she ordered an x-ray (picked up nothing) PCP sent me to my Oncologist to request an MRI or Bone Scan & sure enough the pain I'd been having was in my ribs & vertebrae. I was then diagnosed Stage 4 Metastatic breast cancer to the bones. Please Do Not Ignore your pain & if YOU have that gut feeling Go With your gut.
Thank you for sharing what sounds like a difficult story. The rule of thumb I share is that, if your symptoms are lasting more than 5 days and are not due to a previous condition, give your oncologist's office a call.
UGH I am so sorry. I am sending you all my love for your Stage 4 treatment. I was Stage 2 TNBC and finished chemo and surgery in March/April... I have been having persistent rib and back pain over the past few weeks and I just got an X-ray last week (picked up nothing) and I am going for MRI tomorrow. I read stories like yours and it makes me feel glad I kept advocating for myself even though my doctors don't think it's recurrence. We shall see. But yes -- people with cancer will always tell you to LISTEN TO YOUR BODY and GO WITH YOUR GUT. You know your body better than anyone. I'm so sorry it turned out to be Stage 4. I will be thinking of you and holding you in my heart.
Thank you for your videos. My doctor unfortunately seems irritated when I report symptoms and express concern. I’ve never had a doctor act like this before. I’m looking for a new doctor because this one is so dismissive that if my breast cancer returns I’m not sure he would identify it right away.
My gp and hospital surgeon, mammapoli, radiologists dismissed me. I have stage 3 ilbc with 10 lymphnodes. I am vey disappointed and don t trust the medical people anymore. Be firm with them and seek those who will stand by you! Be your own advocate!!!!
I was 12 years cancer free until a month ago. I just had a bilateral mastectomy 11 days ago. After I heal from that, I’ll start chemo and immunotherapy. Triple negative this time. Last time it was a completely different situation. My oncologist said it didn’t come back, this is a different type. Caught early. Good prognosis! I felt a slight pain in the same breast and went for my annual mammogram and they caught it! Cliché but true, early detection saves lives! Get screened! It saved my life! 🙏🏾
Thanks for sharing your story. It's not uncommon to have a completely separate primary. Sounds like yours has been found early! Wishing you all the best.
Hello, I was 6yrs post lumpectomy and radiation until a week ago- its back so double mastectomy in 2 days... not going to come back a 3rd time. Thankyou for the posts- very informative and I feel in control now I have knowledge.
Thank you very much for another useful video. I think most if not all of those who have had cancer live with these worries. It is also very important to hear you repeat that it is normal to worry. God bless you for the great work you are doing and the support you provide to us all through these videos. Can you also make a video on how to behave after cancer treatment?
Thanks for the question. Without knowing more detail about the tumor and the treatments you've had, it's hard to estimate the risk of recurrence. This is the kind of question your medical team will answer with all the details in front of them. Wishing you the best.
I have finished chemo, then left breast mastectomy. All margines were negative but from the two nodes checked, one was negative and the other one with isolated tumer cells found. Then finished radiation and i am taking tomaxifen and will finishe my trastuzumab treatment soon. But i m worried of pain with my left arm, left shoulder and armpits. It is 6 months since surgery anf 2 months since radiation ended. I am very worried to the pain.
It’s understandable to be worried about pain in your left arm, shoulder, and armpits after treatment. Pain can sometimes persist after surgery and radiation. It's important to discuss these symptoms with your healthcare provider to ensure that everything is healing properly and to address any concerns you may have. It's possible that physical therapy could be helpful.
Doctor my wife got lumpectomy right breast while on chemo now she feel a lump on the left breast she got mri before like 4 months before the doctor said is negative. .
It's important to make sure that you and your wife feel comfortable with the test results. I suggest you bring this up with your wife's medical team the very next time you see them.

I won’t to know wat are them looking in the blood test? Very my blood test I have taking doing chemo have them say it’s looking god? It’s that good?
We check bloodwork during chemotherapy to make sure that your body is ready for the next round of chemotherapy. If your liver is a little "irritated" by the chemotherapy or if your white blood cell count is low, we generally give you a little longer before the next round of chemotherapy.
