My personal view: Alpine has good sound stage and is more balanced to ears, instrument separation is good. Kicker has great bass, but harsh highs and poor separation, instruments tend to run into each other.
Im using some high end headphones and the Alpines sound much more clear with an even response. The Kicker for sure sounds more muffled and unbalanced but yes more bassy. Now this is obviously not gonna be better than a in person test but with my headphones the Alpines are a clear winner. You don't want super over bassy door speakers if your paying big bucks anyways. You want balanced sound and you can let the sub do the boom. All said I agree that they are not worth the price haha. I got some JBL stadium 3 ways for a nice discount for around 240 and I can't imagine paying double that for speakers even if they sound a tiny bit better. And im also only giving mine 75RMS and they want 110-130.
It depends on the person. The alpine sounded better to me although the kicker were more bassy. I personally like really nice sounding speakers with zero to no bass and a nice subwoofer pumping the bass. That’s just my preference.
I've got the full set 6.5, 6X9 and 6.5 Coaxials Alpine X series with the X Series 12 inch Subwoofer powered by the Alpine X Series Amplifiers....They bang for a lot of bucks but very sensitive - Worth it though!
The alpines were fuller, had more depth, accuracy and a faster response, balance sound, very nice, the kickers had bass and treble and nothing in between, was so pleasing to the ears every time you switched back to the alpines😎👌
I got the X Series all around my car, with the Amps and the iLX-705D, happy days...Paying the premium. Don't skimp on something you hope to own for the longevity or want to sell with the car afterwards, it'll only add value!
Alpine X series 6x9 components are the best sounding sounding period out of all 6x9 component sets. This is fact and has been tested. The next best tested were the Infinity kappa 6x9 component set if you xan find.
@Colt There's a review from an Audiophile with about 50years experience. He's listened to every 6x9 components and tested them. He stated these were the BEST 6x9 Components he has ever listened to and tested. The only ones he has ever given a 10 out of 10 rating.......I'll find it and give you the link.
With your amp setup probably under powering the type X’s I think explains why you favor the Kickers. Kickers are not bad at all but the Alpines can handle over 110 watts rms. Ive heard them at that level at a shop and they rival your mid range drivers like American Bass, PRV, DS18. The Alpines can YELL at you!! If you give it what it can handle but I understand if you don’t like being yelled at lol.
75watts is plenty of power for Ann the other speakers I’ve tested. It all comes down to sensitivity and materials used. They are ok speakers for the price. I personally would get some morels hybrid or hertz at that price point. The speaker is discontinued in a few months so if want some get them now.
Alpines sound better to me.... Maybe actually install the Alpines and give it another test also switching seats between tests. I bet u toss those kickers in the garbage. From experience I can tell you the Alpines are amazing.
Thank you for the demonstration. What brand/size sub(s) were you using. And what amp were you using for those subs. Again, thanks for the demonstration.
Do the same test, and switch the seat youre sitting in.. Youre comparing a set of speakers that youre sitting on top of - to a set that youre sitting across from. I have no dog in this, I’m actually trying to figured out IF and WHAT i might wanna upgrade to, but just on my iPad - the Alpine sounds way better. The kickers sound very “tin like” and are just screaming volume without quality of sound. Obviously , youre in the best position to know, but volume and bass is not the same as sound quality. You have the Alpine firing at your foot and the tweeter facing the windshield, while the Kickers are firing across the car at you - its gonna sound way different just from your position.
CANNOT use the left speaker &the right speaker to test midbass mid-range& tweeters due to the fact the audio Engineers pan various instruments on one channel versus the other channel in the recording process!! must use a mono Channel buy summing both left and right!!.. .
This is improper to test this way. When in stereo mode speakers don't play the same sounds from left to right and your going from left to right on these speakers lol.
Sorry man the alpines are overpriced and not that great IMO. i did everything possible to give them a fighting chance. there are much better speakers at that price point or even much less.
Yeah, of course the Kicker is going to sound better in YOUR car because the Alpine need more power and the kickers use less so they sound better at your power level. Can’t really compare the 2 when it’s more in favor of the Kickers.
I’m sadly here because I’m downgrading from my focal KX2 6.5’s :/ they are just a little too bright for me coming from Sony 6x9s that aren’t anywhere in the same class. They do sound amazing but I just don’t feel as blown away as I think I should after spending 3k on just the speakers.
Door cover on Kiker vs no door cover for Alpine, checked. Tweeter on dashboard 90 degrees off-axis for Alpine vs tweeter on door on axis for Kicker, checked. In this recording none sounded good. Alpine was faded, Kicker was sounding like a cheap boosted boombox.
I’m reviewing some infinity kappas next. Just by listening to the tweeter I can tell these are much better then the x-type. Honestly they a good speaker but way better options at that price point
Ok so where are these speakers installed? One in the front and one at the back? Because unless you compare the SAME mounting locations at least, this comparison is next to useless.

Put both speakers in and then do a proper testing. Then you tell me which sounds best. It will be X series all day everyday 🙌🏾 hands down.
The Alpines music sounded much better

Exactly

The kicker sounds better because it is less wattage and it is at its full potential do the same with the Alpine you'll see the difference
Plus the cross overs for Alpine only work the tweeters. The woofer can handle any sound frequency coming through it. Bet the Kicker can't do that.
Alpine X series 6x9 components are the best sounding sounding period out of all 6x9 component sets. This is fact and has been tested. The next best tested were the Infinity kappa 6x9 component set if you xan find.
Show The proof. I've seen nothing to say the same.

@Colt I researched these all 6x9 components of all kinds and narrowed it to Alpine Infinity kappa the old school ones hard to find and JBL"s.........
@Colt go to unbox and review alpine x series s69c. You'll see this older audiophile guy
@James F150 If you can send a link. Thanks for the input.. I love to read up on everything cool!!
What kind of speaker amp are you running? The Alpine R and X definitely need some power thrown at them.
With your amp setup probably under powering the type X’s I think explains why you favor the Kickers. Kickers are not bad at all but the Alpines can handle over 110 watts rms. 75-110w is barely 2db.
Alpines sound better to me.... Maybe actually install the Alpines and give it another test also switching seats between tests. I bet u toss those kickers in the garbage. From experience I can tell you the Alpines are amazing.
not an Alpine fan, still they was sounding ALOT better than the Kickers in this video..
Alpine were WAY better and I have on Bose headphones. The kicker sounds holo and meshed together. The alpine sound clear and more defined
Thank you for the demonstration. What brand/size sub(s) were you using. And what amp were you using for those subs. Again, thanks for the demonstration.

yep just put it in mono from the phone.
Im going towards the alpine type x. Sorry the sound is better. Its more of of the user error
Sorry man the alpines are overpriced and not that great IMO. i did everything possible to give them a fighting chance. there are much better speakers at that price point or even much less.

i ended up getting a amp that fit the alpines and it still didnt impress me for the price they are not worth it. prob why they a discontinued.
I'll stick with my Focal 6x9s in the front and 6.5s in the back.

Where did you get those sail panels with the tweeters?
Alpine sound way better tbh bud
The alpine sound a little cleaner... I guess that's the only difference I hear.
I’m reviewing some infinity kappas next. Just by listening to the tweeter I can tell these are much better then the x-type. Honestly they a good speaker but way better options at that price point
Ok so where are these speakers installed? One in the front and one at the back? Because unless you compare the SAME mounting locations at least, this comparison is next to useless.
those alpine x-type's are not a comparison at all for kicker KS. Those alpines will match up better with Hertz mille pro's or focal flax.
Alpine takes way more power
You Dont Have The Right Amount Of Power Going To The Alpine Type X
Alpine sounds nasty
Они не стоят етих денег !
