I've fitted 2 kits exactly the same type, really easy to do if you take your time. I've done 1000 miles over the last year, they are great to ride and it's up to you how much work you put in.
Good video. Liking the white VW bug in the background. Seems it hasn't been out in awhile. Maybe take that for a spin. Thanks again for the installation vid.
Mate I bought a bike at a auction with the what seems to be the exact kit installed . However no information nor a charger came with the bike . It has a 36volt motor 26 " rim and in the soloarbike bag the specs on the controller state BLDC motor controller 6--Li36--14. You werent very specific about the charger save for the green and red lights - Could you please provide more detail on that unit as I need to purchase one suitable for this motor . Much appreciated regards
Thank for the video. It will help me to install mine. I ride my bike all the time but for us that are getting older it helps to have a little help up those hills. :)
Hey, your information is fantastic, due to time and money constraints it has taking a year to build my Cannondale Scalpel with an e-bike conversion kit. I elected to place the hub motor on the rear wheel with a 48v 1000w system using a Panasonic Lithium Ion battery (pictures and video available on request). Your video has been an extreme asset in this build. My question is it the VW in the background available for sale?
tip for removing grips, if you can pry up edge of grip and bust a little bit of nut under grip it slides right off ! if there is any leftover save for another project or give to significant other.
This a cool conversion. I could imagine in the future the batteries will get smaller, ligher and more powerful. Also, the smaller the rim you have the higher acceleration you will have.
hi I have a 1000 watt solar ebike and I was wondering if you could tell me how to set the computer that shows U how much battery U have left and your speed etc etc. as I messed around with it and the Speedo is off and the pedal assist has stopped working due to messing with the P and C settings. I'm in Perth metro area if U have a shop I can come to what ever is easiest as the shop that sold it to me in Newpark has shut down. Thanks and good viewing
do you have a dual motor kit ,, front and rear motor,, and how much is it for everything to do the install with shipping to the usa,, thanks for the info and the video, Robert
I'm developing a liquid cooled 36v 22ah ebike battery pack made up of cheap 2200mah 18650 cells. 10 in series for 36 volts and 10 36v rows in parallel for the 22ah capacity. The cells weigh 44 grams each so 100 would be 4.4 kilos so figure around 18-20 pounds with the case, wire and cooling system. I found them for $37 for 25 cells shipped so that should run around $180 bucks for a 36v 22ah pack with all the wire and PC cooling radiator bits and pieces. I plan to flood the pack with mineral oil and circulate it through a dual 120mm fan 240x120mm PC cooling radiator with a PC cooling pump to keep the cells cool under load. I may even liquid cool the controller too. When you keep the heat down you keep the resistance down thus saving wasted energy. I think the extra 5-6 pounds of liquid cooling gear will be well worth the added weight.
If there's a self sustaining power source keeping the engine running for as long as the power source is running, how is it not perpetual motion? The minute you stop?
There is no such thing as a self sustaining power source - if we operate under the commonly accepted laws of thermodynamics. With every mechanical or chemical transition you lose a touch of energy to contribute to greater levels of chaos in the form of entropy. Ie. you cannot have a battery run an electric motor that then charges a battery that then runs the electric motor. You will always lose energy as heat and sound etc. Your battery will go flat quite quickly. The best we can do is minimise energy usage and use it more efficiently. My opinion is that even solar, geo thermal, wind etc. is not renewable. All of these require energy input to create the system and they all require fossil fuels. Once fossil fuels are gone these so called renewable energy systems will soon become un-usable. Only biological systems are renewable - growing trees and getting the oil out of them or burning them for heat. This is the most renewable - but even these rely on the sun for energy and even that is a finite resource.
+Anthony Poore Drop bars are difficult. The width it typically a bit larger than that of a flat or raised bar. You can't get the throttle on. There is the odd solution I've seen that isn't so elegant or you could you a pedal assist sensor in the bottom bracket and have no throttle.
+Matthew Timmins I have the wider drop handlebars (I'm wide at the shoulders) STI Brakes incorporate the gear levers,171/2 inches /44cm inches apart. This leaves 4 inches/10cm free on each side of straight, from the levers inward spare for fitting the control. I take it you do not mean the diametre of the tube
+Anthony Poore No, I mean the diamater of the tube. It's different for dropbars - just a touch wider than a regular flat bar and makes the throttles incompatible. I haven't found a particularly successful solution for this - besides changing everything to a flat bar or pedal assist only.
where is motor I think it in front week box and where is speed controller we have stop speed of front weel whenever we go to stop seep of front weel off ten fail down.it should in back week pls reply I want to how to install speed controller between motor and battery please advice me
Hey you know you can keep the bike going indefinitely if he would simply add a tire generator to the bike, which would keep the battery charged which would keep the wheels moving which would keep the battery charge which would keep the wheels moving which would and should by now give you a notion of continuous motion
Yes, you can put it on. All motors are disc compatible. You need to use correct rotor bolts (get from a bike shop as they have lock tight thread and are a bit longer) and at times it can be fiddly to set up because you potentially have to space the disc away from the motor to create room for the caliper to sit between the motor and disc. You can use a disc spacer for this. If you're in America, then the best company that can sell you kits and provide all accessories is ebikes.ca They're great. If you're in Australia then give us a buzz. Getting the disc to sit beautifully between the caliper can also require some spacing of the motor between the forks with washers on the insides of the motor. There is some float on the caliper itself but you need to get the motor in the right range at the start. In 90% of cases it simply sits straight in there with small adjustments of the caliper but you have to be prepared to do some fiddly spacing with discs. You can always get there in the end but patience and good tunes does help sometimes with discs.
Looks simple. Looks great. I saw on one of the comments its $1300. i dont know if its true. I guess its possible because of the cost of the battery. can you give me some idea of the cost. Can you also tell me which model is the most popular. thanks

Good video. Liking the white VW bug in the background. Seems it hasn't been out in awhile. Maybe take that for a spin. Thanks again for the installation vid.
Do you still need to change gear if you are riding converted electric bike? Only if you are pedaling
Very nice explanation of this sort of install. Thank you for posting. Typical of America, not many sources for this sort of thing.

You are 6 years older NOW since you wrote your comment. Have you installed one yet. HOPE you are still cycling.

There are kits online for less than half that. Some low power ones for 1/4th that.
I want to get a kit like this but I also want a sort of old fashion bike with balloon tires can I get such a kit do you know ?

I LIKED TO SEE THAT SURFBOARD IN BACKYARD BACKGROUND.VERY NICE
Nice video! Would that panasonic tube battery work with a bbs02 motor kit?
Hey, how much speed can you get out of a bicycle that way? and how much is the cost of the kit? And what is the range at full speed?
do you have a dual motor kit ,, front and rear motor,, and how much is it for everything to do the install with shipping to the usa,, thanks for the info and the video,

Where do you leave your bike at night? I wanna come over and pick it up quietly ! Thanks pal.

Hi how much is that kit worth as I am looking for ether a petrol motor or looking at that I thinking of going elec now
I am looking to put a motor on both my wife and my bikes. What is the cost of the kit and are they available in Australia and who from.
What is the classical music playing in the background around 10:50 - 11:30?
Will disc brakes complicate the installation a lot?
Is it possible to mount disk brakes with this kit?
Great video. I wonder if there is any kind of of batteries rechargeable while rolling. Thanks for the video, it was really educative indeed.

What Fanatic allwave do you have?
Is there ANY way to make that "Tube Battery" work with a kit from "E-BikeKit.com? I think the balance would be better as it's in my rear bag, now.
is it possible to fit on drop handle bars with STI brake gear levers

What happened to the V dub mate.
Why don't you just mount the torch bar on the fender mount or other braze-on?
do you have 20 inch rims?
is the torque arm required or not?

Can we install tow moter using one controler and one battery
Yes, but you will need a more expensive controller with enough watts for both motors.
I'm from Phiippines, just asking how can we avail and how much will it cost including shipment...
Hi my name is arthur i like your video . how much is the kit and is it road legle in the uk .
sometimes often?
What if you have a disc brake, would it fit?

***** All "our" motors are. Most other suppliers are disc compatible these days.
disc brake want work..cause your break handle need to be changed ...its a sensor in the break handle you get in the kit..so you need wire brakes...

What If: my motor kit didn't come with, nor mention any torque bar?
Nice how much is your cheapest kit as well the most expensive?
Will this kit work on a single speed tricycle?
yes. just need to get the correct size rim
I ride a Miami Sun Tricycle. Does that matter or should I get the width of the wheels?
How to get that kit in india
Do you sell in the United States? I'd like to try this on my bike.
Adrian. Have you received a reply re bike motor? I'm interested. Let me know
(Friend/ neighbor Ben bought a Tesla. I'm thinking...
Well done...query...haven't heard that word in awhile, accent rocks.
Excellent video. Problem with most kits like this however, is that they cost almost as much as buying a brand new e bike with kit already installed.
