Trent just gets exposed when he is isolated on the wing 1vs vs a winger, klopp has to put him in midfield he can still defend and put in the work to track back but at the same time his technique and and vision and just his crazy passing could already take that one place in midfield over so they only have to buy one or two mids

He is a worse "defender" than Alonso but not by a long shot. Different eras, different formation, different positions, different team philosophy.

His defending is questionable but No one can deny that he's an excellent passer of the ball.
