people dont realize that way back in the late 70s/early 80s Kazumi was teaching kids like eddy van halen in the US to shred, rake, sweep, tap, reverse reverb efx etc. l remember hearing 'All Beats are Coming' when it came out and talking to all my fusion player friends at NTSU about him. We had meetings with pat metheny and Lyle Mays then and l remember students asking about him and comparing Pat's 'Left Turn' to Kazumi.
Seriously, I didn't know that. This guy is therefore an underrated ICON! I knew his music for years, but I never thought he had trained the great Eddy Van Halen! Wow!!!!
The vibe solo man, it's been a while since I've really felt every single note of a solo as much as that one there. What he does at 7:08 is masterful. I got into kazumi 2 years ago but didn't dig much deeper. Now I'm realizing so much of what he does and has done is very high quality and he works with a ton of awesome people.
Few play with the abandon of Kazumi...you can never predict what or where he is going next and that is the true measure of an improviser. Reminds me of the Wayne Johnson Johnson Trio in that respect!
Glad to see they finally reunited from the Mobo I and Mobo II days. Now we just need Sly and Robbie to join in for that magic mix of fusion and Reggae...
Kasumi Watanabe and Marcus Miller back together again... Two legends with a legendary band alone with them..." Wow talk about a super band"

He is nothing but supurb.
This is one of the fabulous performance of him.
Great Japanese guitarist!
Kazumi Watanabe is so cool.
Who can be so skillful as he is?
Few play with the abandon of Kazumi...you can never predict what or where he is going next and that is the true measure of an improviser. Reminds me of the Wayne Johnson Johnson Trio in that respect!
This is so awesome.. beautiful jazz sounds and killer fusion tune! I love it...
What a line up! Great stuff and Watanabe really does a fantastic solo.
This is amazing....
I've never seen anyone go crazy on a vibraphone like that! Everyone here is unbelievable
Check out Steps Ahead's album "Magnetic". Same vibraphone player! His name is Mike Manieri
Totally dig the "seat of your pants" wild abandon of Kazumi's soloing! Been a fan since Mobo I and it's great to hear and see he can still tear it up!
Absolutly Amazing😵👍😵
I like his play of the guitar.
Kazumi is great!
Yeah....that's so Cool * I love it ☺💛
With Marcus Miller on bass and Omar Hakim on drums, you seriously can't go wrong...
je suis fan depuis des années merci you tube
You're amazing sir.
Great solo by the MANieri!!
Glad to see they finally reunited from the Mobo I and Mobo II days. Now we just need Sly and Robbie to join in for that magic mix of fusion and Reggae...
First phrase with harmonics. Awesome.
Kazumi Tearing it up man ! well done
Fabulous!
Genius!
amazing wtf!!!!!
Magnifique musicien que Kazumi !
Fusion head heaven!!
This is unreal
Ten years late to this party but......
HOLEESHITWHATJUSTHAPPENED??!!!!

Great Kazumi Watanabe On Guitar.

Insane improvisation from Watanabe
Technically brilliant!
RESPECT!!!
Omar ! and Marcus !
What a ridiculous amount of talent present on that stage but a really good kind of ridiculous.
Kicks Azz!!!👍🎼🎸🎼🎸😎💯
凄い
Smokin'!
Power casts~!!!!
So fucking good. Wow.
kazumi san he is far from japanese ensemble!
this band looks like weather report.
bravo brava
fucking great marcus miller you're the best ever bass player
Cookin'!
I got this LP back in 1980 in Japan and this gave me goose bumps. Isn't the Toggle switch on this PRS in a bad place?
Kazumi--EXCEPTIONAL!-----Marcus----SENSATIONAL!----VERY Hard to find genius interplay like this anymore!!!
Sacred Monsters of Music...omg Kazumi, Marcus e Omar!! best of the best!
grande
!! F A N T Â S T I C O ¡¡
Mike's solo - HO-LEE SHE-AAT !!!
yeah such a great group of musicians.
Kazumi Watanabe was hospitalized in February. I really hope he can overcome brainstem hemorrhage and come back.
Smoking!
🌼💙🌱😀
5:19 lol what happened to his whammy bar? Marcus looked at him with concern. lol
Wasn't this tune used in a Guitar Player magazine disc from years ago?
Yews I still have the thin plastic disk - that was a great version of the track!
