Thank you for the informative and comprehensive review. I owned an M1 iMac and have ordered a refurbished base Mac Studio after viewing your M2 Pro mini versus M1 Max Mac Studio. I have also made a decision to order this monitor after viewing your unboxing video and also the interview with Dr. Bai. Now I am excited and look forward to receiving the setup. Thank you once again for the tedious effort to create such useful content for people like me. Keep going 🤩😄

Thank you for the comprehensive and informative review. I had not heard of BenQ until 10-ish months ago. I purchased my first BenQ monitor about 6 months ago. I really like the PD line quality & the customer service. I expect i will purchase the 32" version of this model with the arm once they are back in stock. I REALLY hope that they make the arm available for other PD line monitors. The extra room for the number of cables is notable improvement over the LG one. The Hotkey puck is a fantastic necessary accessory. I would like to see it have a much longer cable or that it be a standard cable so an extension cord could be used to extend the distance for the desktop aesthetics - i think running down the arm and under my desk to the position i would like it to be in, then across the desk to the easily reachable position would be closed to 8 or 9 feet (3 for monitor arm, 3 for under desk, 1-2 for regular use movement). Great Review!

Would you say it's a comparable match?

    • @ArtIsRight

It would be a good match for side by side use. PD2706UA is a good display, the only other model that tops it would be PD2725U, and the only variation is Thunderbolt connection and no Ergo Arm.

Thanks for this detailed review. I think I will end up getting this since it has a good price point. But do you think I can reasonably calibrate this using the built-in software (I do sports & event photography primarily) to match my MacBook M1 display? I dread using those hardware calibration gizmos, I never had luck with them (before I switched to Apple). Thanks again, I like your other videos too.

    This is a great review!
May i know if all the ports are HDCP 2.2 compliant? HDMI, DP & USB-C?
Also, what is the data transfer speed of USB-C in PD2706 model? I am asking about the rear usb-c port that receives video/data.
Edit: The older models PD2705U/A has USB-C 3.2 Gen1 with 5 Gbps speeds. Found it in the user manual for the same model in BenQ site. But the user manual is not found for latest PD2706U/A models in BenQ site.

    • @ArtIsRight
      @ArtIsRight  Год назад

This is a monitor and although HDCP 2.2 standard would apply in specific use case situation, if one uses a computer the OS and software running on it would provide authentication. What is your specific use case that that varies from the norm?
Data transfer rate at 4K60Hz is going to be USB 2.0 speed. Or 4K30Hz at USB 3 speed. Either option you'll have 90 watts PD. As far as speed spec goes it is USB 3.2 and I would think it is Gen 1 as well.

Woowww 👏 and again Woowww 👏 Honest and sincere review. I became a fan of this channel. You have earned an active viewer. I really need your help and opinion: 1 - Is the only difference between the PD2706UA model and the PD2706U the ergonomic arm? 2- Are the typical nits of these two models at most 350 nits? 3 - Only when in HDR does it reach 400 nits? 5 - Both don't have calibration software? 6 - Only the SW models have calibration software, Palette Master Ultimate? 7 - The Palette Master Ultimate software doesn't work on the PD2706U and PD2706UA models? 8 - To calibrate the PD models only using the hardware calibrator software? 9 - What is the DCI- P3? 95 or 90% coverage? and AdobeRGB coverage of the PD2706U and PD2706UA? By calibrating you can get a delta E below two,? I'm really sorry for asking so many questions, but I'm going to buy a new BenQ monitor and I want to choose the right model for my use. Much success to your channel. Best regards

      1. U and UA are the same, U desktop stand, UA - ergo Arm (hence the "A")
      2. Yes, but most users set theirs much lower.
      3. Max is 400 nits, and it can reach and sustain that
      4. No questions here
      5. No, we consider these a "Software" Calibrated display. You would use the software that comes with your calibration device.
      6. Yes, and that software is for SW Line only
      7. No
      8. Yes
      9. 95% DCI-P3, Adobe RGB is in the 80 percent range, probably around 84%, but you can't access or calibrate Adobe RGB. These are software-calibrated displays, and if the factory did not calibrate them in this gamut, you can't access them. Yes, you can easily calibrate these for ∆e below 2.
If you are a photographer, I would suggest the SW line if it can fit within your budget, this would be especially important if you print

Great review and recommendations on setup of the monitor. I currently, have a mounting arms and it appears the back allows Versa attachment. Is there an adapter with the monitor for this application? Also which size screen would recommend? I thought about having two monitors, but with the dual image ability would this option work for one monitor? Should I go with a larger size if going with just monitor? I will be using MacBook ProMax laptop that we talked about from your earlier reviews on the new laptops for photo video editing. What is the refresh rate of this monitor (60 hertz or higher for video/gaming?). Would you recommend using OLED TV as a monitor or a Gaming type of monitor for photo editing?

Is there an adapter with the monitor for this application? Back mounting is a Vesa 100 x 100, you can just put the mounting plate in and the screws, then you should be good to go.
Also which size screen would recommend?
For the arm? I would check the spec on size and weight support.
I thought about having two monitors, but with the dual image ability would this option work for one monitor?
This arm only mount 1 display, if you want 2 on one arm, look at 3rd party.
Should I go with a larger size if going with just monitor?
      You can
I will be using MacBook ProMax laptop that we talked about from your earlier reviews on the new laptops for photo video editing. What is the refresh rate of this monitor (60 hertz or higher for video/gaming?)
      60HZ standard
Would you recommend using OLED TV as a monitor or a Gaming type of monitor for photo editing? For gaming, sure, for photo, not so much. You can. It I like using a rock or knife to open a can, are you able to do it yes, is it the best idea, probably not.

    Hi Art,
I am torn between RD280U vs PD2706UA (this one).
Most of my work is programming, and thus I am leading towards RD280U, however, this model has the Ergo Arm and is cheaper in our market.
It would be great if you could help me decide based on the following factors
    a. KVM (Is there any latency in the pass through? Are there any HW requirements for the attached devices)
    b. Daisy Chaining (Can I daisy chain using HDMI / DisplayPort from RD280)
    c. Is the RD280U really worth the extra price for Dev & Programming workflows? I hope the RD280U does not compromise on color accuracy.
Thank you for your excellent reviews. Would you be reviewing the RD Series in the near future?

    • @ArtIsRight
      @ArtIsRight  2 месяца назад

      1. I Have not tested this much, but it should be minimal, imperceptible
      2. Both do not have Thunderbolt so you can't daisy chain display signal
      3. I have not tested the RD so difficult to say.
We'll see on the RD review. The coating on the RD is more like the SW than the PD so less reflection.

    Hi Art,
Thank you for your in-depth review. I have an older 32" PD model which is working fine but I could use the Ergo Arm in my desk set up. Have you had any experience or measured the longevity of BenQ monitors? I bought two of the PD 32" models. I gave one to my brother which is about seven years old and the one I have is about three years old. Both of them are working fine with zero issues.

    • @ArtIsRight
      @ArtIsRight  Год назад

LCD displays regardless of brand will generally last for sometime. As panel age, there may be issues that comes up, electronic components and panel deterioration would be a few things that comes to mind, LCD bleeding would another. With all of these it is the luck of the draw really, you may get one that works fine for 10 years and you could as well get one that show issues after 1 month and this happens across the board regardless of brand. But so far my BenQ are working fine. Another thing too is that certain products are going to be know for certain type of failure, it is like a stereo type in a way but it is simply parts and components that may have not been up to spec or there may be some manufacturing defect which happens from time to time.

@@ArtIsRight Thank you for the reply Art.
I do not remember if I mentioned this in another post before but the reason I ended up with a 32" monitor (the first one) was that my 27" PD died on me twice within a few months. Credit to BenQ, they stood behind their product. After the second failure and return to them, I guess they felt bad and shipped me a 32" PD which is working to this day with zero issues. That was about seven years ago!

I would really like to see Benq make a monitor in their PD line with 600 hdr and higher nit brightness with 95 -99% DCI-P3 and or Adobe. I have enjoyed my PD2700u and Benq as a company. Nearly switched brands before seeing this new release though because of difficulty finding decent specs for a new purchase.

Hi. I have just purchased the BenQ SW270C monitor, but am still confused as to the connection to my PC (win 10). Which would be the best connection between the two: USB C from PC to USB C on monitor or Display port from pc to display port on monitor? Thank you for your help.

Either one will work, tech are technically the same signal. Is this a PC laptop or desktop? With Laptop there advantage to using USB C, because you can just use one cable. Desktop less so you may still need to use the USB up link cable for calibration with Palette Master Element

The one that comes with it us USB C to USB C, with a USB 3 or above spec that can carry 4K signal.

Ah I see, sadly, I don't think that we'll see these in touch screen anytime soon. There are some 3rd party equipment that you can augment the display with. And there are touch screen manufactures as well that you can look at.

tldr PD2725 Thunderbolt connection with 4K daisy chain capability. PD2706 USB C Connection with no daisy chain. Also Basel is different as well PD2725 Infinity edge on all 4 sides, the other just 3. And there are some other minor nuances as well. I would check out the video that I made, like above.

For graphics design, HDR is not used and not need as of now, most HDR that you are referring to does the same thing in a different way and it is mostly used for content consumption as of now - i.e. video streaming

No point right now, Only program that can do it is ACR and the supported displays are limited at the moment. Only time will tell, but at this point, where would we go from here. Not all displays can show it yet and even if they can, a format war is looming. So I would not worry about this as of now, emerging market and all, we'll see if this goes by the way of 3D TV or not... time will tell.
