      @@mr.martyr8573 that's awesome. I live in Vegas where they played the Codefendants album release, and I missed it because I committed to judging a local battle of the bands show. Hope to see both bands and NOFX at some point in the near future (before I can't anymore).

      @@poweredbyrock I believe they only have 3 more dates left. If you live in Vegas, the 9/16 show in San Francisco would be your best bet. Hope you make it because NoFx played quite honestly the tightest ive ever seen them play (Ive caught them live like 8-10 times in the last 20 years.) I admire Sam for how well he articulates his first hand experience being a child of a parent who was distressed, abused, and manipulated by a shitty, broken, profiteering prison system. I'm sorry for any person that has to endure that shit. AND Wow! Talk about turning shit into gold, I love the music, lyrics and pure antiestablishment attitudes conveyed by Get dead and Codefendants bands. I get energised. I feel empowered. I feel seen, and I feel connected to the unseen, or those who feel unseen. Thanks For the interview Isaac! Get hearing from you Sam.

    I love Sam King but it was evident from minute 2 that the interviewer did not do his part. At all. Like rancid on top of social distortion? When did you decide to start writing more up tempo songs and go electric? Damn. Who the hell did you think you were interviewing?

    • @poweredbyrock
      @poweredbyrock  Год назад +1

      I have known Get Dead for years and seen them live, my intro was actually a bit of bait for conversation later, because if you look around at all the press sites out there, that's how they are described. But in reality, Rancid on top of Social Distortion is actually how their albums sound. Their live show on the other hand is definitely more East Bay punk than anything. Out of curiosity, how would you describe Get Dead's sound to someone who has never heard them before?

    • @Ty-138
      @Ty-138 Год назад +2

      @@poweredbyrock but social distortion isn't even close to being an acoustic folk punk band. Another state of ears?

    • @poweredbyrock
      @poweredbyrock  Год назад

      @@Ty-138 Social Distortion is widely considered a "folk-like" punk band. They were even labeled "cow punk" for many years. Mike Ness is kinda the godfather of bringing that sound to punk music. "Ball & Chain" is a good example of that, I suppose. It may not be "acoustic" but as Sam says, neither are they. That's just how they recorded their album due to the budget of the band at the time. Hopefully that makes sense.
