My U.S. history teacher said: “did you ever watch a documentary on bears? The baby bear roars in order to intimidate its foe. The foe gets intimidated. But not because of baby bear. But because of big mama bear behind him scaring the foe.”
The baby bear was America trying to intimidate the world with the Monroe doctrine. And big momma bear was the British Empire whose interest was to keep the independence of the new Latin American nations.

& now the big mama bear is old, the Baby bear has grown to be just like his mother, basically replaced her.

This is an important lesson to the world as we watch what is happening with Russia/Ukraine and the implied influence the US and the EU is imposing on Ukraine with NATO.

A country only joins NATO if they want to and if every member in NATO says it's ok..... There is much of say in the member nations compared to a nation being colonized by a foreign power.

Actually, it was not the Venezuelan movement of independence. It was the Gran Colombia movement of independence. Led by Simon Bolivar, who was Venezuelan but it was supported by Colombian guerilla troops. The Venezuelan aristocrats turned their back on Simon Bolivar until he had already obtained the independence of Colombia first. Then they joined for fear that Simon Bolivar and his "mug" were going to take control over the Nueva Granada.

    1. Why did Spain not stop the South American rebellions immediately?
    2. What economic system (from chapter 1) influences the desire for more wealth to the mother country?
    3. Why did the British want South American countries to remain independent?
    4. Why did the US not want to create a joint declaration with Britain?
    5. What was the new "rhetoric" in the US at the time?
    6. Why did European countries stop meddling with the Americas after the Monroe Doctrine? What did they fear would happen if they went against it?
    7. What two things was the Monroe Doctrine an early expression of?
    8. Do you think Monroe should have made the declaration of the Monroe Doctrine? why/why not?

Eventhough Militarily the USA was not a powerful country around the world and not even in American continent, this proves how bold, gutsy, courageous these American heros were.
Basically, you countries around the world would try to invade any country and you will answer to the USA Militarily or any other way. Those are big balls!

Although there is obvious merit in your thoughts on America being a flea on Britain's back at the time, I personally believe their ability to hold their own in the war of 1812 must have meant something and given some weight to the Monroe Doctrine.

So help me understand, who appointed the US to speak for other countries in the Americas ? What if other countries wanted to become part of an empire in Europe or have a European monarch?
Was this to ensure European crowns stayed away from the resources in the Americas and solely the US would control the political aspect and resources of this hemisphere?

Summary. Keep 'em others down and low, never to come even a-half close to the US in any or every sector of economic industrialization, technology and military might. To never allow competition to a level where the US is threatened by the adversary. The doctrine is a Zero-Sum game except that it isn't a game but a matter of life and death for the country to stay as the foremost superpower of the world, therefore, accorded all the attendant peculiar riches and exclusive privileges as such.

They call Great Britain and the United States of America an Anglo-American world power for a reason.
The United States is just an extension and reflection of Great Britain. Which are similar in their laws and customs in many ways. While controlling and sharing 3/4 of the world as a police force. After World War 1 then known as the Great War, Great Britain became the lesser, while America became the stronger, hence, they've always had, ever since the 13 British colonies established itself, a symbiotic relationship, what affects one, will affect the other, and vice versa.
