What *really* frightens me is how far to the left the Democratic party has shifted in 51 years! I worked for the Democrats in the 1972 & 1976 elections and today's far-left socialists would be unrecognizable to the liberal Democrats I grew up with.

My mom told me she would see Lindsey in the worst neighborhoods in Brooklyn in the mid- to late-60s guaranteeing a better future, gaining their trust and following through. I think he was a great mayor. My mom was a social worker and would see him in the field.
