I test drove the 2021 Subaru Outback Touring XT and when I floored it, it JUMPED! I took it back to the dealer and ordered one. One customer when asked about the ride was quoted as saying "It's like driving on a cloud"
1:43 actually, the Outback isn't longer than the Legacy. They are pretty much identical in length. The long roof of the wagon gives the appearance of greater length.
I bought the 21 outback premium last weekend. If you truly understand this car does not have power, it's an excellent car. People trash the ctv transmission, so far I'm completely adoring it. It feels incredibly smooth because it is not really shifting, ya know. My negatives the sun reflects off the screen & Stop start.
the new infotainment is trash. Android auto can only take up 50% of the screen and is constantly covered / blocked by other settings pages. This is the only thing preventing me from getting an outback. The one in Crosstrek and Forester is waayyy better.
@@dirkcurritzki9585 So I have the 2020 Outback Onyx XT. Initially the Apple CarPlay only took up half of the screen. With their latest firmware update that came out last year it now takes up the entire screen. However I will say it still has it's moments when it freezes up. Also the XT is pretty responsive with its power.
No car company makes the black super tough cladding look good better than Subaru. Just took delivery of a premium today with the things I need and no additional option, package or Ala carte. The cloth seats are so damn nice, comfortable and keeps your behind breath better. It is perfect for extended roadtrips, can sleep two people when the 2nd row is folded down and plenty room left for essentials. Standard roof rack for more hauling capacity. I'll install a tow package for good measure.
When I see them on the road I sort of regret not buying it instead of my 2020 4Runner TRD Off Road Premium, but then I look inside and it's nothing but old people. I still feel young in my truck. It's silly but it matters a little :) of course I'm going to feel worse when I start seeing Broncos on the road next year.
I’m hearing mixed results from the durability of the startex. Actually subarus interior longevity in general doesn’t get favorable reviews as cracks are somewhat the norm, Thinking of an onyx but I really like the tinned leather.
I disagree with the practicality. Besides the two cup holders, there is NO good storage. The cubby is hard to get to, and if you make the mistake of getting the wireless charger, it takes over the cubby. Don’t do it!
@@holla3648 I imagine low 20's because that extra power feels good and many owners use it. I owned a Legacy with the 3.6R and averaged 21 overall and 25 on lengthy road trips This XT Turbo has much more power than the old 6 cylinder
Thats true of most vehicles. Those mpgs are from most ideal conditions & driven in old lady mode (no offense mother). If you tend to have a heavy foot, your mpg will suffer. More significant on awd models because of additional weight. I'm no expert, just what I've heard from experts or whatever.
My friend owns the CX-5 with the base engine and my Outback has the turbo. The Mazda is smaller, but it feels great. I do like the handling. The power output is a bit low, but it’s adequate. The handling is nice on the Mazda, and I’d say it’s a little more sporty than the Outback’s lazier/comfy feeling ride.
@@TCPUDPATM I think you are 100% spot on friend! I was reallllly impressed with the cx-5 speed and handling...and the heads up display was sweet. I ended up choosing the outback, though, because I thought it was a much more comfy ride just as you say...and because I was going to move to a snowy mountain town and wanted the best awd.those plans were put on hold but I still will enjoy the comfy ride and the extra cargo room..I'm 6'3" and want the option of camping out in the car.
@@TCPUDPATM nice..I'll see you there! A lot of the features confuse me around adaptive cruise..not sure what hold mode does...guy at dealership said adpative cruise/lane keep only works at highway speeds, and that's how it seemed when i was doing a solo test drive...but I've seen online that's not true.
@@SureFeelsGoodWow. Yea, totally wrong. It’ll work on surface streets down to 20mph. Hold mode engages the brakes until you hit the gas every time you stop. It’s helpful when in stop and go traffic. I’ve had mine for 2 months, still figuring things out too!
i just bought my 2021 Green Onxy and it is the most beautiful wagon ever and so fun to drive. so happy

Picked up my 2021 Onyx in magnetite gray this past Wednesday. Love it! Such a great balance of performance and usability.

I bought one yesterday! 2021 Onyx😍
Nice review. And music very appropriate. Subscribed

@@dirkcurritzki9585 I went into the settings and connected the outback wifi to my phone. I just updated through the car.

Love the outback.., great reviews as always 👍
Thanks! We really appreciate it!

Hahaha same. I’m 25 and drive a 2020 XT. So. There’s that.
put on some blacked out rims and a/t tires and it changes the look drastically
I am reading 0-60 times from 5.7 to 6.3, as in this review. That is a big difference, which is it?

Is the 2.5 engine powerful enough or only turbo for the extra money?
I like everything except for the green stitching and piano black interior trim
You should go for one of the other XT trims then.
I don't know about the us but in Canada the green trim is the only I interior on the xt
