Good video, I do want to add some facts: -I've never seen anybody mention this, but the European version of Head On is censored. The beginning cutscene is cut off where the Eiffel tower is being blown up and you can't blow up the Eiffel tower. -Speaking of Head On the final boss for some reason lost one of his attacks in the PS2 version. -There's a video showcasing Black's beta build and it shows some unused pedestrians. -The recent PS4/PS5 port of TM 2 changed the Hollywood sign to Los Angeles and changed the Health pickups symbol to a heart. -Finally, the PSP version of Head On has a licensed song that doesn't appear in the PS2 version. The multiplayer lobby plays a Nine inch nails songs in the PSP version.
I rented Black here in the UK. Calling the credits "a tease" is such a perfect summary. I was so confused there was this montage of cutscenes from a game with no story.
this was surprisingly not on the iceberg but there was another thing that should be mentioned. not being able to shoot down the plane in the twisted metal black PAL version: in the junkyard level of twisted metal black, you can shoot down a plane in the junkyard level where if you shoot down the plane, it crashes and you can explore the inside of the crashed plane, letting you unlock yellowjacket. but in the PAL version (Europe) they deactivate the ability to shoot down the plane, due to the 9/11 attacks (the PAL version was released post 9/11).
36:48 The Mask Test is super interesting and I love it so much because like it could simply be Needles wanting to be free and sane but drowning in the insanity that is Sweet Tooth or just a really dope animation
My original opinion on TM:B is that the universe is essentially Sweet Tooth is making shit up based off what little he knows. He sees a skeleton man, and just goes “Oh yeah, that’s a dude wearing a skeleton mask. Looks like real bone though… that’s interesting.”

Both were released during the same summer. 2001 really was the year of supremely dark, dark media rearing into mainstream culture. I dont think there will ever be a year like 2001 again. You can still find ridiculously dark video games and metal music... but *never* like they were promoted and hyped like they were that year. You're not going to be able to turn on the TV or open a magazine and see it talked about like you did back then
The lost endings were online before head on by, I wanna say, 5 years. They were on the original fan site Twisted Metal Alliance before the server shat the bed like right before TM12 released.

The PAL version of Black actually shows the unlockable vehicles driving out of Minion's Stadium after defeating him, and it shows all vehicles driving through Midtown after defeating Warhawk. Character bios were also cut from the PAL version.
The Twisted Metal: Black Outlaw story would have been better if they had gone the route of his tragic past of being a victim of a racially motivated attack. It would have given a deeper meaning to him loosing control of his emotions.
FUN FACT: Apart from the altered cutscenes from Twisted Metal Black (one of which had John Doe's uncensored tattoos), there was an even worse character shown in the documentary for a split second... For the safe version: It's a fat lady in a gimp suit. For the less-than-safe version: A fat lady in a gimp suit with fetuses strapped to her hands (who was originally going to drive Axel). Thankfully that character never happened.
Man, that hand-drawn cutscene for Harbor City freaks me out. And it's rough, unfinished, sketchy look and eerie atmosphere makes it a lot creepier to watch.

I did enjoy tm2012 for multiplayer but then multiplayer got fucked over by cheaters and shit and it ruined the game for me. When i still love tm2012 for what it is. Was excited for tm2012 and duke nukem came out like a month or two before then come pick up tm2012 o yeah it hype as fuck for me to play through duke nukem and beat it just before tm2012 came out on Valentine's days. Either that duke nukem forever came out like a week or two before tm2012. Waseither like a month or two or like a week or two before tm2012 within that range.
