    I like to think I played my small part in keeping the business going by selling the original business with all the moulds, build files etc. for every car to a new owner who values the brand as much as Rory McMath did, who'd been involved with Marcos as an engineer for 55 years. Long may it continue.

    I worked there at Westbury Trading estate for a number of years. Most of us are still in contact, and we would all probably agree that it was the best time/job of our lives. Amazing company, Jem was a huge character, as was Chris, we were all friends.

      Really? To my knowledge it's the only one thatv was made in this colour? I have tracked down the original owner who kindly shared some great pictures and stories of it from back in the day. He used it daily for a number of years, I believe.

      @@fuelupclassic Yes I only remember one in that colour, and it was that one, pre delivery/collection. And funny enough, I remember the clutch being particularly stiff in that car, amazing that that memory has come back to me. It was a fantastic place to work, we were all great friends p.s. different RUclips account but same person 🤣

    Hi, I have #2 which I'm rebuilding with a new chassis, before I started, she done around 118,000 miles, I've had her 13 years and she has spent many of those raising money with the Sporting Bears 🐻

    Wonderful cars - and fantastic value when originally sold in terms of fun per £ spent. I got mine new in 1996 - going strong still at only 35,000 (mostly dry) miles. It will be interesting to see direct comparison with TVR - the latter had a reputation for being more twitchy and inclined to oversteer...

      Thank you for watching. It's great to hear from long term owners and hear their experiences. I will put a comparison video together when the weather improves.

    I saw my first Marcos in 1991 at an Oldtimer show in Austria. I got the chance to sit in it, to check if i have enough room for my feet because i'm 197 cm tall. It fits perfect. So i went in 1992 from Austria to London and bought my 3 Litre Volvo. I did a nut and bolt restoration and now, 30 years later it's always a pleasure to enjoy it. I love it !!!❤

    I have had 9 Marcoses and I must have driven another 15. My fave cars. I had a Mantara in Balmoral green. I loved it! Such fluid handling. I have owned or driven most models, but if I get another, it will be a Mantara.

    These cars are not very known because owners are from older generations and reviewers rarely test them.
    Young men never even heard about it, as racing simulators don't have these cars.
    It's too bad, I wish this brand become as popular at it deserves, at least as TVR.

      I hope to change that and get more Marcos content out there for people to enjoy. At 32, i'm firmly in the 'younger' category of Marcos enthusiasts but I really enjoy the car and plan to do a lot more with it in the near future. Thank you for watching. Matt.

    The front look, with its double horizontal front lights reminds me a little of the SOVAM 1100 from the 60s. But I recognize that the comparison stops there. A french fan 😉

    Before I had children back in the late 1970's I had a Marcos V6 (Ford Essex) for a couple of years which replaced an earlier Lotus Elan.
    The Marcos was much better, and certainly didn't suffer, "Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious" - if you know what I mean!
    At the time of purchase, it was a toss up between it & a V6 TVR. Although most of my friends disagreed with my choice then (a bit of a hairdresser's car, a show pony, - Can you believe that!)I still think the original Marcos shape was better than anything Lotus & TVR offered at the time and drove rather well too!
    PS. Well what did my friends know, they were still trundling around in archaic TR6's, & MG B V8s...

    • @fuelupclassic
      @fuelupclassic  6 месяцев назад

      Wonderful! It's always great to hear from current and previous Marcos owners - It sounds like you made the right choice back then and had plenty of fun with it.

    • @fuelupclassic
      @fuelupclassic  24 дня назад

      A local classic and racing car specialist looks after it. Prior to that it was maintained by Marcos themselves for many, many years. There's nothing particularly complicated about them and parts for the Rover V8 engine and the rest of the drivetrain are readily available. Parts availability and knowledge is very good via Marcos Heritage and there's a handful of specialist such as Redline who are extremely knowledgable and helpful.

    Sadly soon all combustion cars and trucks including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-(
    In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025
    on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.!!! (BABVVEN & TEBBVEN & BEFVO )

      Very rare and they have everything you can't get even from Ferrari or Porsche today - a natural V8 with manual.
