Barefoot Beach // 1 Year After Hurricane // October 2023

- Today we're checking out Barefoot Beach, technically North Naples, but located next to Bonita Beach Park. The Barefoot Preserve is closed for repairs until sometime in 2024, however, you can park for free in the lot right before the gates to the Barefoot Preserve. Parking is also available for free (at the time of this posting) at Bonita Beach Park. From there head on thru the gate or down the ramp, turn south for Barefoot Preserve or North to go to Doc's and Bonita Beach.
We just passed the one year anniversary of Hurricane Ian. Although a lot of progress has been made, there's a long ways to go. The beaches are looking better all the time. Tis' the season for bacteria and seaweed though, so make sure you check with the county website before hitting the water.
Coming up in the next few weeks I have Little Hickory condos from the beach, and then we're back to Sanibel! East Gulf drive is coming as well as some West Gulf from the beach.

Sadly it isn't the state. It's the payouts from insurance companies and lack of supplies or workers.
Thanks for update. We were there last week and heard pay parking was going to start. Docs looks like it will open soon. Wonder how far on to the beach home owners can landscape.
I figured it was coming soon! I spend a lot of money paying to park on Sanibel and Captiva, but Ft. Myers Beach and Bonita has been free so far.

beach goers likely stuck it in the ground. It's not planted. This beach is reachable but the parking area most people use will be closed until 2024.
Hi Lindsay, another interesting video from you, thank you very much. Can you give us a tip where we can park for free on Bonita Beach in November?
I cannot say what November will be like. I'll tell you right now, in October, you can park in the lot right before the entrance to Barefoot Beach for free, as well as Bonita Beach Park's lot, and Bonita Beach access #1 and #10. Beach accesses #2-#9 are always free but have limited spots that fill up quick. The other spots I mentioned typically are pay lots but the payment machines were destroyed in the storm. I'm not sure when they will be back up and running.
When will the preserve open again?
Not until 2024. Collier county hasn't set a date.
You can still walk down there, and I do, but the parking is closed. You can park in the lot right before the gates and still use the beach.
