Bonita Beach // September 2023

I last did a Bonita Beach update/walk in May.
Doc's continues to rebuild. They have tacos, sandwiches, ice cream, chips, drinks, and apparel on site. Along with a ATM (cash only at Doc's) and seating. Parking is still free at Bonita Beach Park and the beach accesses. I'm curious how long this will last, but happy while it's happening!
Bonita Beach Park's building structures don't seem to have been touched. I'm not sure what Lee County is doing here.
Unfortunately, there is still some debris on the beach. I picked up some glass, there was random pavers and wood. The new addition is the sand bags that litter the beach, I assume from Hurricane Idalia which skirted our shores a few weeks ago.
The majority of homes along the beach are repaired or in a state of repair. They're looking pretty good. There are a few still looking sad and boarded up.
All in all, if you're looking to book your fall or spring trip, I hope this video helped you get an idea of how the beach is looking. The water was beautiful on this day, but I know there have been some bacteria alerts out there. It's just that time of the year I suppose.
I have a video of The Beach and Tennis Club coming for you next week. I know many have been disappointed that they didn't open as anticipated at the end of August, but I was able to find lots of video footage from 10 days after the storm so you can see how far it's come.

Yes! Still finding some small glass in the sand but so much better. We had popsicles at Doc's before school started. Hopefully the inside opens soon, I can't wait!
