I went to my pre-school and tried to get all the other kids to run around the gym in a way that recreated this game. The instructors had no idea what I was talking about and it was embarrassing. But I sure loved the game (and many others for the Vic-20).

my FAVORITE video game, of ALL-TIME, on my most favorite gaming console, of ALL-TIME! I miss this game so, so much, and the system so, so much, too... damn! I def NEED to get me another one, sometime. Radar Rat Race💘💘💘
Watch a RUclips video of the arcade game, "Rally-X", and you'll see that ALL the devs of this game did was change a few sprites, change the fuel gauge into a time gauge, and change the "BANG!" into "EEK!".
This game is such a BLATANT clone of Rally-X that an arcade ROM hacker could just simply change the sprites (i.e., racecars into rats, rocks into cats, smoke screens into star screens, etc.) and change the fuel gauge into a time gauge, then you'd have an arcade version of Radar Rat Race! Yes, Radar Rat Race even goes as far as showing that "go for the world record" screen!
@@infinitecanadian I certainly don't have perfect pitch, but it also drives me bonkers and has since the day I first played it so many years ago. I even pointed it out to my parents at the time and they said I was wrong!
I remember being a wiz at this game. Because it was one of only 4 games that I had and worth playing. Gorf, Cosmic Cruncher, Radar Rat Race... ok, maybe 3. 😂
countless hours playing that one ! i loved it
yes. but on mute after a little bit. lol
@@71kaye ya, was just thinking that.
My favorite VIC 20 game. What a nice trip down memory lane.
Just watching High Score on Netflix and suddenly remembered this game. This and Blitz were my favourites on the Vic-20 some 35 years ago!

This game and Gorf ate up hours of my childhood.
I miss my VIC 20 so much. Thanks for posting!

Back in time this game was like having a real arcade in your house...

That soundtrack is fantastic!
A little out of tune, though. lol

Its Commadore's answer to the question of "How can we come up with clone of Rally-X" one of the better Vic 20 games used to play it quite often..
i had this one, loved this game.
Gosh I remember this!
Always that one flat note!
It really did have that one note off key. I wonder if they realized that after making the cart and it was just too late?
I have perfect pitch. This drives me bonkers.

Most likely the VIC's sound chip cannot play the correct frequency for that note. Same thing happens with Atari 8-bit machines.
@@VectrexForever It could play the frequencies just fine. The music in this game just plain sucks.
I sing that song at work and people think I’m nuts.
The last two notes of the melody are in the wrong key for some reason!
hal laboratory made it!! iwata san... great game too!! rally X clon!!!
I want play with this one now..
The last 5 notes in the very repetitive bar of music are slightly flat...
Yes the commodore 64 version music sounds In tune.
Ya, I noticed that too. Damn, my years of music training. lol
How come the ‘blind’ note is wrong
😎👍👍👍👍
So, Rally X.
Eeek
