Some leaves dropping as our Spring was cool, and lots of rain. It was around 90 degrees a couple of weeks ago for a week, now dropped down to 70’s and 80’s. How are the stems on the fruit from the Pakistani mulberry? Do you have to remove them to make a pie for example? I have a Tice Mulberry and the fruit are large but I have to remove the stems because they're so thick. I have a Pakistani too but it's young and haven't got any fruit off of it yet. The reason yours is getting water is that their roots are all over the place. Those roots go well beyond the canopy line of the tree, so your tree is getting water from its neighbors as well. That thing will get huge. Mine is probably reaching a 40-foot canopy diameter around the plant.

    • @socalbackyardorchard3768

      Our tree is about 5yrs old and we got about 20 gallons of berries this year, spread through a little over a month. The first pie we made, we left the stems, but the baking process made the stems really hard. So, the second pie we made we used scissors to cut the stems off which took some time, but my was it worth it!! Yum yum. Our favorite fruit pie. Our black mulberries we use for jams. We tried a pie using the black mulberries and it was good, but not as good as the Pakistani!!!

    • @socalbackyardorchard3768
      @socalbackyardorchard3768  5 лет назад +5

      King V the tree is planted on a slope, so the pvc pipe is so I can water the tree without the water going downhill. This way the water goes directly down to the roots. The pipe has about 10 small holes. I really don’t need it anymore now that the tree is bigger and established but it was useful when the tree was young.
