@Krista Austin if the process is done properly this does no harm to the tree, and they will live their lifecycle naturally. Not having bark does make the trees a little more susceptible to fire, but fire is never good anyway. There are numerous cork trees with more than two centuries of age.
@@EngineerAndro thanks; a huge relief that they are not killing the trees. From childhood, i remember for some trees, if you cut a ring of bark from it, it dies .
It actually helps the tree getting healthier and stronger. ;) It helps the tree regenerate stronger barks after each harvest. (out with the old obsolete protection layer, and on with the new better one)
Thanks burnie, i found my asmr

Does this process kill the tree or does it just continue to regenerate?
It regenerates, this process is done every 8 years.
+Quantik Records Cool! Will the tree just continue to regenerate until death or does it have a limited amount of times? Thanks by the way.
It will continue to regenerate, the tree lives on average 150 years.

Why does reality seem to distort in weird ways at the base of the tree?

💪🙋♂️👉❤
When you remove the bark, doesn't the tree die??
Nah, it regenerates every 8 or 9 years.
The tree gives the better quality corks after the 3º or 4º cut, +30 years.
